In my opinion multiple videos of that same thing is not always a bed thing. There are a few videos out there of how to change the oil of a Roadstar, but different people pick up on different things. Today, I walk you through changing the oil in my 2005 Yamaha XV1700 Roadstar. Take a look and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
The "correct" oil and filter to use is always a highly debated subject, but to each their own.

13mm drain plug? All 99-14 Road Stars came with 17mm head drain plug. Someone must have changednthe drain plugs (typically to a 14mm head to make more room for bix end stubby wrench on left side).

You more than likely have the original silve colored crush washer that has been CRUSHED over time...thats why it doesnt leak now AND why it did leak with a new copper crush washer (you had unkowingly used two crush washers). Use a thin knife blade and see if you can remove the silver original drainplug crush washer. Now...since you have aftermarket drain plugs (13mm head not 17mm) ita odd that someonenwouldnjas transfered the original crush washer over. Of course this is assuming your 13mm headed drain plugs DO have silve crush washers lol....
