Well today I did them standing up and with the mute. Uff..., I struggled right from the first note to maintain the 30 secs. However I I rested a little longer between C & D then felt much stronger now above that. The breath attack is now working better. Lasting the 30 seconds to me in the high end depends on how much air I use staring the note on breath attack. Like you said: "It is the consistency"...
I agree wife wants me to play quietly so she doesn't have to hear me practice l love her Anyway I put amute in today give her a break. Well thanks Brian see you tomorrow. Michael
My experience with the silent brass, using the amplifier, was that it gave me a completely false sense of how hard I was blowing and particularly how my sound was. That’s a bit of a tightrope to walk, so do check in on your sound without the mute as often as possible to make sure everything’s where you want it to be.
Q: it seems to me you are not playing in a particular order (not that you have to). I kind of do the same but chromatically , by doing that I get to a decent G.. from C. Should I keep doing that or should I practice particular notes within different octaves?
I’m going in precisely the same order every time. This is a standard expanding series, starting from G then 1 note lower, 1 note higher, and so on. (G, F#, G#, F, A, E, Bb etc). You can download the free PDF at the link in the description, if you’d like to have it notated.
Okay ! Only missed 2 today ....maybe 3 ? Notes😥 but I can see some improvement and holding the higher notes F. G a little better ...16 more days to go .I m sure things will get better.
