Great video and good series. Firstly thank you for the series and patience. Can you please make a small video explaining the setup of prometheus and grafana on a plain Linux virtual machine without k8s. Also on how to pull data from multiple virtual machines. If you could throw some light on the structure and design of /metrics API it would be very helpful since many startups don't follow these, it will help in building the /metrics API. Thanks for the contribution ❤

Hi Abhishek, As we are using helm repo for Prometheus stack, the storage required for time series DB will be the storage of nodes right ? But I doubt, this will not be the best practice in production kind of clusters. Can we use PV or tell us any other way how do they manage in prod in the upcoming lecture. Waiting for it ❤

Hi @abishek I used AWS Instance to installing AWS CLI, kubectl, eksctl. When im trying to hit the Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager with Private IP of instance or 127.0.0.1:9090 127.0.0.1:3000 (it gives me site can't be reached). Can anyone help me on this

I changed the service type of Prometheus, Grafana to LoadBalancer and I was able to access it. With AlertManager, the service has both TCP and UDP and when I changed the type to LoadBalancer, the ALB didn't get created as it had both UDP AND TCP Ports. In this case, I have to create two separate load balancers for AlertManagers. I haven't tried this yet. I was adamant about seeing the dashboards. As of now, I can access Prometheus and Grafana, also I am not sure if this is even the right practice. We will be charged for creating LoadBalancers as well. Added relevant ports to their node's security groups.

@@msatyamounika if you have git repo which you are accessing with lb could pls share, bcz I tried with lb grafana worked but Prometheus iam getting site can't be reached even though I changed service type. Alert manager not allowing to change service type as it has TCP udp ports. Need to try in another way for alert manager but I am not even getting Prometheus dashboard, can you pls provide ur git repo

@@drajani5115 I took backup of the “prometheus-operated” service by creating another yaml file with new changes like removing clusterIP and ClusterIPS: None in spec and changed the type to LoadBalancer. Saved this file. Deleted the original “prometheus-operated” service and did “kubectl apply -f filename - monitoring “ for the new service. This created a LoadBalancer. I am not sure if this is the right practice and if this can be implemented in production as for that we will use ingress I guess.
