I seriously choked on my coffee when LB said, "it looks like she pooped her pants, like aggressive poop." 🤣🤣 Yep, 53, and poop jokes are still hilarious. 😂 What a bummer about the stove. Metal alloys have gotten cheaper and weaker. We've noticed it in the trades with nails, screws, hardware, etc. Have a wonderful time in Hot Springs. Coffee and croissants sounds delish! Great work today, bears. Rest well ✌️🌲🐻🌲
Great video on braking camp. I am enjoying your hike and it brings back a lot of memories of my past hiking trips. I am 84 now and only do 5 mile day hikes three times a week. You are both doing a great job on your hike. God Bless You.
Careful there, MB! I thought you were going to crash and burn about three times taking that tent down! LB has certainly come out of her shell, if she ever had one to begin with. What a hoot she is. "Aggressive poop" and "gripping the toilet seat" poop. LB, my three boys are grown now with families of their own but I sure 'nuff remember what they ate like when they were "13 years old and going through puberty" so I know you must be eating a LOT! You need to host a talk show because you make things SO funny! I love that y'all can laugh at yourselves and then share it with the rest of us. "Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they will never cease to be amused." That's true for me, for sure. My highlight of today's video was LB's funny sarcasm. Keep it up, kiddo, enjoy Hot Springs, and God bless you both.
Every mom should be blessed with a wonderfully positive encouraging daughter such as your Little Bear. I love seeing her good attitude and encouragement . She has had a great teacher Momma Bear! ♥️
Little Bear you are wise beyond your age. And you make me laugh 😊. As a hiking partner you held up your end when you stepped forward to encourage your mother positively to help her get through her struggle with the heat and lower energy. You’re gonna have plenty of hot days ahead so as they say, embrace the stink.❤😊
LB her personality is really showing in this hike. Way to go Momma bear. I had a really sad weekend last week. I got my anxiety get the best of me plus my emotions. Mid 40s and watching your video has improved my character build going forward. Thank you for giving my power of being a strong single lady. Stay safe!
Little Bear You are now officially 'A Star' :-) The way that you have, with Mamma Bear's help and guidance, grown in confidence is amazing. You have proved the old saying that hiking is character building. Brilliant. Stay safe and keep on smiling.
What a great day you both had! Much cooler weather and little bear what a great help you are to your momma! 😊 Can’t wait to you both get to Hot Springs and enjoy your time off!! Hike On!! 🙏👍🧗♀️🥾🐻🌸🐻🐻
Thank you so much to my two favorite AT hikers♥️♥️ I look forward to seeing your videos every day, and I have so much respect for the both of you! You. Are. Amazing!!!
Omg I’m dying with laughter Little Bear your too funny and Mama Bear your such a good sport! Sadie has not been found as far as I know. She was last seen heading SOBO with someone and not the owner. Hope they can be reunited!
Me and my husband cold soak a lot. We dehydrate our own meals. We add water to our dinner during lunch time then it rehydrates while we hike between lunch and dinner.
Wow! How confident and mature is LB?! What a great video again. You both deserve a nero and a zero after those long and tough days. Definitely A-Team. Love and hugs. R
Little Bear is quite an impressive young lady. She's so comfortable on camera and well spoken. I can see her doing the Triple Crown some day as well. - I know the AT is an education in itself, but how is she doing "school" on the trail? This school teacher is curious. 😁 I'll be retired in June, so if you need any ideas for on-trail lessons I could likely figure out some science and geography related lessons for her to do.
Thanks! She is homeschooled and 2 years ahead in her studies. She has access to her schooling on her phone if she chooses to do a lesson. No strict lessons are needed on trail. She is learning so much just by experiential learning and exposure. As you know, when you allow children a little freedom coupled with a little guidance, learning occurs naturally.
I’m glad the slip turned out to be amusing and not serious. Some of those steps going down look dangerous should you slip. I’m surprised the companies making freeze dried meals do not design a line of them specifically for cold soaking. Great video as always. Take care.
🚶♀️🐻👟👟🚶♂️🐻😺👟👟⛺🌞 Mama Bear you were just awesome and are doing great out there and you are raising a great wonderful daughter so smart and you both always seem so happy I can see little bear growing up and continue to be a wonderful person you both are just awesome I wish more parents got their kids out in nature and away from the phone's TVs and games you two enjoy your Hot springs soak and a nice zero day love and light to you both 💯♥️good night ELLIE 😺🐈🐾⛺
It's great the way you two work seamlessly together to get things accomplished, and enjoyed Little Bear doing more camera duty today. Funny, not funny, Mama Bear when you slipped down and got mud all over your rear end. Glad you weren't hurt. Also glad the trail was softer today and that the weather turned out better than expected. Gorgeous wildflowers along the way. It's nice at end of day wrapup when your challenges were less severe. Hope you get your replacement stove. Those cold soak meals would have been your challenge if the weather had still been as cold as it was not long ago, yuk. Glad to see Elle. Know you're looking forward to your time in Hot Springs. I am too!!
I thought what great parenting when you were really trying to pack up before the rain & LB wanted you to talk. You breathed in & did great parenting with patience & put your stuff a bit to the side. Little Bear made me laugh when she said she eats more than an average 13 yr old boy going through puberty. 😂 And, talking about a new restaurant 😂😂 like you’ve never been to any of them. Only locals should gr excited about that. Y’all are killing it.
Good morning, MB & LB. I hope, Mama Bear, that you didn't hurt yourself when you slipped in the mud. Tho your daughter cracked me up with the poop comments. Ya'll continue to amaze me, keeping your spirits up, encouraging each other, making miles even in the rain, just so many things. You are a blessing to my early morning. The cats, especially the Maine Coon, demand feeding at 6 AM always. Btw, Lizzie May, Hazel Rose, & Toby send meows of greetings to Ellie. That mineral bath sounds absolutely wonderful. Enjoy. Quite the incentive to get to town tomorrow as early as you can. Ya'll take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow. .
Happy that it cooled off and the rain was only temporary. You both are having loads of fun and can’t wait for your zero coming and seeing you both enjoying the REAL food and relaxing. Happy trails!🐱🧸🐻🥾⛰️👍
L B your character builder was. You became a motivator and a leader. M B yours was you trusted and listened to your partner. The growth of LB in the last thirty days is remarried great job MB you should be proud
Very impressed with LB maturity and MB steeled patience. Pamper yourselves you have earned it. Be sure and get the needed trail fats or your body will start burning muscle. You have almost gotten your hill climb legs. Soon you will realize you are at the mountains apex and you never stopped once to rest getting there. Maine awaits.
Love ❤watching your journey. It’s funny how all thru hikers eventually get to the point where the main topic is eating 😁. Hiker hunger is real and I love it when this happens because we who are watching can tell when it kicks in 😄❤️. Keep on rocking.
I had a good chuckle at the "aggressive poop" comment! Love that you always seem to have a back-up plan for failures...ie cold soak when the stove fails...a good sign of making the best of things. Enjoy your time in Hot Springs; cheering you onward!
What looked like a rainy day ahead of you, turned out to be a lovely day! So glad it wasn’t all rain! Sounds like Hot Springs is going to be a great rest! So sad about that pup. I hope he’s found but as it’s been a month…. Miracles happen ❤ Have you had any issues with ticks? They are my biggest fear. Especially in the spring as they are so tiny and can cause such horrible illnesses. ❤ Safe Journey!
Mamma Bear, I'm surprised you didn't mention the slip and fall as a character builder. All that mud on you certainly built up your pants 😂😉 And Little Bear's characbuilder could be the same incident, bit for not laughing at you. Much 😉 Great commentary for both of you, and great choice in camping spots both nights! So much nicer, IMO than at shelters, surrounded by dozens of other hikers. 😊
Sorry for your fall, but thankful you were not injured! I noticed you tripped over the tent stakes while taking down the tent. Can they be removed first to avoid that? You both have amazingly positive attitudes! So inspiring and encouraging! 😊 ❤
Lovely hike glad yor fall wasnt serious but Little Bear made a hilarious comment about looking like poop😂keep safe and about food in your tent careful and dont leave food in or near your tent Again keep well and HAPPY TRAILS along the way
Gear failure - I hope you saved your Pocket Rocket II. If you have gear failure send the item back to the company with a letter explaining who you are, what you are doing and that you have a RU-vid channel. Most companies will either replace the gear or send item at a discount. I had a Pocket Rocket strip out in Maine and I sent it to the company once I got home and they replaced it for free with a pocket Rocket II. My tent support poles also failed in the 100 mile wilderness. I sent them to Big Agnes and for free they replaced the section as it was a failure at a junction. At the end I sent my trekking poles in to have the tips replaced and they did it for free also. Some hikers talked badly about the gear companies not replacing gear, but I believed it was how they acted when they contacted the company, like they deserved the item to be replaced. I was willing to pay and stated that if they wouldn’t I was willing to pay. The 3 companies were more than willing to help out thru hikers. So, this might get to you to late and you may have thrown the stove but in the future, you could give it a try.
Question: how do you set up your tent in the rain without getting wet inside? I’m fraying to get a tent and this concerns me with that kind of tents… You girls are doing amazing! Sending love ❤
Thank you. Short answer is you move quickly, but will likely still get it a little wet depending on how hard it’s raining, wind, etc. This particular tent has the ability to set up the rain fly first, and it can keep your actual tent dry.
I know you may not answer this but as a mom I wonder what kind of protection you have on person to protect yourself and your daughter like bear spray a gun or mace etc
I have never met anyone who has ever carried any of the things you listed on the AT. I have met people who started with a firearm but eventually lost their fears and ditched it. I hiked thousands of miles many of it will my daughter and never felt I needed anything for protection. Off trail my daughter carries mace and bear spray.
@@mtadams2009 Only 1 in 100 Black Beas might maul you, but it could be the first one you encounter. And then there are the 2 legged predators. Why take chances...
If there is a fire pit that is allowed to be used, can you two consider a small fire to heat water to a warmer level, even in rain one can start a small fire. Of course, this is days gone by already and you are now geared up. But do consider a little fire to heat some water if it happens again. Warm water goes far, for sure. Enjoy your journey. I do have a question: Mama Bear, you have 4 children, how did you two end up as the AT hikers as opposed to the other 3? And will any of the 3 join you at any point, or your husband for that matter??
A few days ago, little bear said she had a streak on duo lingo, which is great. I know u guys are Christian. Have u been reading your Bible every day, too?
Well, you ladies have done very well,...I guess.... You are getting into my neck of the woods, now. You may run into some of the feral woods people. I'm kin to most of them. They look rough but are completely harmless. Just throw them a candy bar or a granola yummy and they'll just ease right off. Any of them act up, tell them you know Gollum.... They'll get into line quick...❤
I bought the MSR DELUXE , it failed me 3 times in 1.5 years. Bought the standard and no problems after 1 year of use 4 times a day. Think the DELUXE manufacturing and quality is blah.
@@robertbates6057HAHAHAHA like Anish says. She does about 4 miles per hour. They are doing about 2 mph. Oh you are going to miss so much at 4 MPH instead of 2MPH 🤣
@@jhayft0703Anish held the FKT on the PCT and AT at various times for unsupported thru hikes. She id the PCT 2650 miles in 60 day, 17 hours, and 12 minutes. Record broken since then but at the time she held it for both Men and Women.
