Hi Patrick....can I suggest switching back on the arrows during analysis showing the best move possible? Exen if you play a "good" move, it's useful to see the best move and I think you skate over this.....I think this would help both of us get more out of your analysis.

On move 6: "I know I'm breaking my own rule, but I think it's gonna be OK," and then moves Bishop three times in a row to become behind in development.

I would keep harping on about asking "what is my opponent's NEXT move" especially if you attack him, but seeming as you STILL haven't grasped the constant reminders of everyone and even yourself to ALWAYS develop, what's the point?? It wasn't just the three light squared Bishop moves. It was moving your Queen around until it was forked whilst leaving your 2nd Rook on a1. You just don't seem to get it. You are more than a year in now and people keep telling you this again and again and you just can't seem to help yourself.

8.30 Patrick .. same mistake AGAIN .. I move my queen here because it attacks the knight I can win a pawn BUT Zero consideration of your opponent because he is a idiot, except his not he sees what you are doing as you would and does what you did NOT he calculates moving the knight and thus finds what you should have easily seen if you calculated HIS next move, don’t leave a calculation on your own move always yr opponents .. knight g3 forking rook and queen
@foodope

Very true. Especially at this level. If you follow opening principles and minimize one-move blunders the way you described it, you win most games.
@musevanced
@musevanced Месяц назад
My tip for the day, which probably will not be taken seriously, is to learn how to analyze your games. Example: today you, with all the powers of engine analysis, are unable to discover that you blundered a knight... good job sort-of developing though
@MrDanielfff777
@MrDanielfff777 Месяц назад
Agreed
@baka1949
@baka1949 Месяц назад
True. The analysis didn't end up revealing why certain moves were mistakes, did not discover alternatives and ultimately did not improve understanding of the game.

This should've been a win Patrick, but losing an advantage during the middlegame happens to the most of us. I'm not as high rated as you(only a 1200) but I think applying the Checks, Captures, and Threats method in your games will help you a lot since the the fork threat happened in this game. And always remember when the king's not castled and is in the center, you open up the center (there are exceptions though). As always good luck next time!
@montagdp
@montagdp Месяц назад
I'm confused as to why you decided to trade a knight and bishop for a bishop and two pawns at 25:08. Was the idea that you would eventually be able to win the knight also, or did you just miscount the material?

The anaylsis at this point is secondary. Your glaring flaw is time. The stats on how many games you've lost due to time, either having to rush or just losing because of it must be very high.
@blogattacker
@blogattacker Месяц назад
You had a winning position. But with 50 seconds left there is no way you could capitalize it. I said multiple times, you can not reach 2000 in your life time playing 10 minute games, you need at least 15'10"
@vlaer81
@vlaer81 Месяц назад
with this speed you will never get 2000. Let's be honest. Why don't you see seconds? You should see timer all the time.

Develop light squared Bishop. Move light squared Bishop. Take knight with light squared Bishop and give opponent Bishop pair and big pawn centre. Are you addicted to losing?
@jeanpaulfelix4095
@jeanpaulfelix4095 Месяц назад
if he had played d3 instead he may of lost the light squared bishop anyway but gained a tempo and would have allowed the dark square bishop to develop. getting familar positions over and over again is the only path to success.

Dont know why you would feel its ok to move your strong white bishop twice , and even a third time exchanging with his knight. About 95 % of the time its the wrong move , so maybe stop doing it , if you agree. I watch every now and then . Seems to me exactly this has been pointed out again and again. Gl reaching 1450 , and move on from there.👍

Maybe Patrick could try playing the game without narrating while playing? Then talk about the game after, when you review it. I find it hard to concentrate if I have to answer a phone call, a question, etc, ... let alone explain my possible and not possible moves while playing. I'm only a mid-600 ELO, but I feel Patrick might be getting distracted talking and playing.

I think missing the fork was the worst part of the game; the rest was mostly responding to the position you got in there. 5:30 was when you were evaluating this. When you move a pawn near your king (especially when you only have 2), you really need to understand the weaknesses that it exposes. I never saw you look at what the pawn was protecting and I don’t think you saw that the knight could jump in until it did.

Are you blind? That was awful You moved the bishop twice ant the queen three times just to drop the exchange. Brilliant. Your opponent made a number of horrible moves and you still lost. Who cares what you were thinking when it was just bad. You lost on time, oh brother. You were dead then you do an analysis whereas you check with your queen to a square it can be taken on and have black move his king. He just takes your queen with his queen; can you see that? At 35:05.

I stopped watching when you moved you bishop again to pin the knight. Truly you need to quit chess. You know that’s a bad move, you said literally right before to focus on development, then right after you aren’t supposed to do it, you are well aware, but you insist on playing bad moves. You can not get better if you make the same mistakes again and again and again and again.
