Today was the final leg of our journey from sea to shining sea - the wheel dip in the Atlantic! This has been such an amazing journey, and I feel so incredibly honored to have been able to make this trip with such an incredible group of men and women!

Alan, which Garmin device did you use for navigation? Did the battery last on long tours or did you also have a power bank with you?

I have a Garmin 530, which I have had for a few years now (so it isn’t brand new). Even so, I think even on the longest ride (around 115 miles) the battery only went down to somewhere around 40%. Normally I charge it once a week, and with the ramp-up I did in my riding leading up to the tour I was charging it around twice a week, but during the tour I charged everything daily, just to be safe. I did not carry a power bank with me. (I DID carry lots of spare batteries for the GoPro with me though, and changed batteries about every 30 miles.)

Thanks! I plan to post my day 49 blog post sometime this morning, and hopefully within the next two weeks I will have time to compile my final thoughts and reflections, as I want to do a blog post and RU-vid video for that as well.

I have been following you since the beginning of the year. I love love love your content. On may 17th, kinda got derailed from my daily ride across american updates as my son got hit by a car while riding his motorcycle. Thankfully he will make a full recovery. That said, that event put me behind on watching your videos. Just finished your blogs and I just had to jump to the end to watch you all do the dip in the Atlantic. Congratulations! I am sure it will take a hawt minute to process your tremendous epic journey. Appreciate all the time you took to write your blogs and video your journey and to share it with the world. I am sure cycling now won’t be the same. What used to be considered a long ride is now just a warm up!! Continue to stay safe out there and have fun!! 😃 🚴🏼

Watched the entire series and I think today is the first day I've seen you without a helmet or hat!

lol - I nearly forgot to record the ending! We were about to leave! Not only did I not have my helmet on, the camera mount was off and the Camelbak chest strap was undone. (I had thrown it over my shoulders just to carry it to the car.)
