Hey there! I went to college for this. Lemme help you some, as a colleague :) I'm not sure if this is a written solo or a transcription of if your improvising BUT I'll say you GOTTA sing it first if it's something planned out. If you can't sing it, you can't play it. Especially on a brass instrument. Go listen to All of Me off by dizzy Gillespie. If you can, learn to sing the melody straight through, including learning the intro and solos. Try to get the minute timing details in their swing. Their note lengths. Their articulation and inflection and vibrato in your singing. Then go to play it on your horn only after you can sing at least the melody of the tune. You don't HAVE TO learn the solos but it helps a lot. You will hear a world of difference. From there, please memorize the main melody and, if you're playing a written out solo I'd memorize that too. It just sort of sounds like you're playing off the page. Music is an aural (sound-based) artform. Don't lose that just because you learn what the black dots and lines mean. Use your ears to learn more than your eyes and you'll go far :) Happy practicing
