Hiked 🥾 9 miles today southbound for my last night in Hot Springs. I had 3 tough climbs ⛰️, but now they are behind me. I will definitely come back to Hot Springs!

Hi I hiked in 2022. Never got tired of them. When they bloom it’s like walking down a wedding aisle. Just beautiful!!

When its hot and sunny and you can get relief in those tunnels of rhododendrons, you will have a moment of joy….they are fabulous!! Mountain laurel is also another flowering shrub that will shower you with beauty. 🥰🥾🥾⛺️😎

I loved the rhododendrons. I miss them dearly as I live in Northern MN. You will leave them behind somewhere in southern Virginia if not before. Keep safe and I’m enjoying your journey and videos.

I'm in Northern MN also and I miss the rhododendrons also. It's amazing how they just stick with you ♥️

They actually grow as far north as PA - I see them in other videos of the AT in that area, but they probably aren''t the catawba (pink -purple) variety you see in the South. Without the blooms, the rhodos all look pretty much the same. By the time you enter northern PA, they are no more.

What a life! Does it feel stranger getting dropped off when you don't have a full pack or when you do? I think it would be wonderful to have the woods be my normal with town days sprinkled in every once in a while but maybe I'm romanticizing it.

I think it feels more weird when I don’t have a full pack because a full pack has become part of me most of the time. Although, I love having a lighter pack since it gives me body some rest while getting in some miles.

@@juliastimeout ok, my work schedule and your arrival time may clash. Take you for dinner and where you need to go. I met “Crazy Quilt” thru hiker at two different times in that area.
