Your analogy of the speed limit outside your home gave me pause. You are so right. The United States won't always exist, and neither will our individual states, but GOD will ALWAYS exist, and the moral laws that He gave to us will always exist. Yes Fr. Mike, it makes perfect sense. Some laws that were necessary and relevant at the time (culturally, historically) are now redundant, other essential laws that Jesus expanded upon are universal and timeless.
Jesus had to prove, atleast to those willing to hear, that He was an authority in correcting and teaching the law that had been passed down. 💗✨✨✨✨✨😑✨✨✨✨✨💗 *Absorbing*
Jesus did not abolish the law given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai, but He fulfilled it by giving it its definitive interpretation. He himself was the Divine Legislator who fully carried out this Law.
Hello Fr.Mike, Thank you for opening up the Paschal mystery section. It is so interesting. Praying for the Jewish people that they come to the full knowledge of God and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. That is the fulfillment of the promise made in the garden when we disobeyed.
In that same Jewish institution that I worked in in the 70s, they did indeed follow the dietary laws..but after our 'cottages' had been renovated & I had a mini kitchen in my room, I respectfully cooked my bacon & eggs in my room & ate my breakfast there. Well, don'tchya know, those teenaged girls were knockin' at my door..Christian & Jew..mouths just a droolin' for some eats! Good times, tho..smh.. Thx Fr. Mike for the clarification! I have been watching 'The Chosen' about our Lord's life here on earth, His Blessed Mother and the Apostles. It is amazing when I recall the scenes from the episodes as Fr. Mike discusses them. I have stood next to my cousin, Sarah watching for the first star to appear in the sky for sabbat and walking with her because she said she could not ride, and wondered on these matters, being a Christian. The lesson was very helpful. I always wondered if we should be living as the Jews did, you know should we do what Mary and Joseph did and Little Jesus as Jews/Christians. This was very helpful. As the old covenant was fulfilled in perfection by the Lamb of God, the new covenant began. As the old temple would be destroyed and Israel of the old covenant is fullfilled the kingdom of old passes into a larger global kingdom for all humanity in the new covenant with Christ. I guess it makes sense that only the moral law will remain, not the temple and kingdom laws. The new covenant focuses on morality at the heart of the matter, so to speak.

Hopefully this is ok, but could you all please pray for someone dear to me who is being persecuted unfairly in his career and is so terribly afraid of being a "failure" to his new wife even though it is not through his fault but because of someone else's issues. It might mean a whole new career move and he is very despondent.
I've been falsely accused and even fired and overlooked for promotions, but all I did was trust in Jesus. If He raised Lazarus who was dead, it's nothing for Jesus to provide new and even better employment. Fear not and trust in God. God is our security, not our jobs. That can be a tough lesson to learn. It's similar to giving money to charity or the Church. It can pinch us at first, because we want to trust in ourselves and depend on God's gifts instead of God, Himself. We're just stewards and caretakers of our lives, not owners. We own nothing. We only steward things very briefly in this life. When Saint Peter was walking on the water, he was fine until he became distracted with the cross winds and no longer looked at Christ. So, then Saint Peter began to sink until the Lord rescued him. It may be easy to say and hard to live, but trust in God. Live the divine chaplet of mercy or the Morning Offering prayer. It's no longer "living the dream", but "living the mystery", the mystery of Christ and in Christ. Amen. Blessings! :) PS: Never fear asking for prayers. That's what we're here for! I see the Mosaic Laws, the ten Commandments, as a sort of rule book we must abide within its boundaries whereas the two new commands of Jesus are as a playbook on how to abundantly live and carry out or execute the Mosaic Law, for by this manner of life we are able to better love God and each other and bearing each others burdens we fulfill the laws of Christ. When do the corporal works of mercy we do them as unto our Lord. These are the testimony and witness that world should know we are Christians by our love for each other and not so much as carrying our Bible and Catechism around or wearing sacramental jewelry and placing spiritual symbols on our cars. It has to be by our love they know us for all the other things are good but they don't convict people's minds and hearts whereas our love will testify to the world and win over souls. They will be even more so understanding through our love like the people who ask, "Who's that mask man!" about the Lone Ranger they will contemplate, :Who are these people of such tremendous love?" As the Lone Ranger is identified by his mask Christians should be identified by our love. Our love is a testimony of the knowledge of God because God is love, not that, "Love is love is love," as the world says for the world does not know love because it denies God and know not God for to know God is to know He is love.
*Regarding Moral Laws* In the Old Covenant the people had to struggle to be holy because of Original Sin. The natural law permitted the people to punish their offenders by taking seven-fold revenge which later increaseed to seventyseven-fold (Genesis 4:24); but during the time of Moses God reduced the existing penalty to an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, etc. (Exodus 21:23-25). God was gradually disciplining a nation full of uncivilised people as from kindergarten to graduation. It is no wonder that Moses had a hard time throughout the 40 years of his deliverance mission. But in the new Covenant Jesus upgraded the laws to (1) forget murder, don't even be angry (2) forget adultery, don't even look with lustful eyes, etc. because the Sacraments would make it possible for us to live the Law of Love. *Regarding Religious Laws* The old Covenant Religious Laws had to be upgraded because the Temple and priesthood changed (Hebrews 7:12)). The old Temple was a man-made construction but the new Temple is the Body of Christ (the Eucharist) (John 2:19). Therefore the Church is not a man-made construction. The Church is where the Eucharist is. The old Covenant priests offered earthly lambs in atonement for their sins and the sins of their congregation. These offerings could not purify their souls and restore divine life within them because it was only meant to be a preparation or rehearsal for the new Covenant. That is why Jesus had to go down to Sheol/Purgatory after His death and preach the Gospel to the righteous ones before taking them to Heaven (1 Peter 3:19-20). The new Covenant priests offer the Heavenly Lamb of God (the sacrificed Body of Christ) in atonement for their sins and the sins of their congregation. This Lamb (of God) is powerful enough to take away the sins of the priests and their congregations and restore divine life within them. Thus Jesus fulfilled the old Religious and Moral Law by upgrading it.
As a human i am flesh and blood, i can be ignored, i can be destroyed, but as a symbol, i am incorruptabil, i am everlasting, i am god. Bruce wayne. The Symbol of the cross is exactly this. It became a Symbol for forgiving your enemies, loving your neighbor and for the life after death.
Day 82 done :) We can look at Leviticus and say why certain laws existing then are no longer followed now while others are still followed. That's because the context in which some laws existed no longer exists. Three types of laws 1) *Temple Laws* ie how does worship take place in a temple - they cease to exist because Jesus established the Eucharist 2) *Kingdom of Israel Laws* ie concerning the governance of the Jews - they cease to exist because how Israel existed in the Old Covenant has ceased. Jesus has established the church 3) *Moral Laws* - they still exist because they are applicable at all times, in all places, for all people . For Eg: Sexual morality laws
Without a government everyone will drive at any speed they like and crash into anything they choose. OH NO. That would be awful. Better keep having a government or someone in charge of us. A Christian government would be even better. Praying before acting on anything.
Day 82 takeaways: Jesus came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill the law. Christ’s authority over the law aggravated the administrative elite of the Jewish hierarchy. There were three types of laws - temple laws, kingdom laws, and moral laws. There was no longer a Temple or a Kingdom of Israel, so those laws ceased to exist. The Sermon on the Mount is a summary of the moral laws which are true at all times, in all places, for all people. There is no room for moral relativism. The Church has never been wrong when it comes to faith and morals. We must obey not only the letter of the law but the spirit of the law. Just as an aside, I always find it amusing during Lent when Catholics are not suppose to eat meat on Fridays as a form of sacrifice, there are lines at Chesapeake Bay Seafood House and Red Lobster. This, in my humble opinion, is a clear violation of the spirit of the law for certainly that is not a sacrifice.

Father Mike isn't your body a temple of God so unless you pass away and don't exist then the laws shouldn't as is but if you're alive shouldn't they exist God had said? Because isn't the church the temple just trying to learn my face better please don't disrespect
But the temple laws don’t apply to us because we’re not that kind of temple. The Jewish temple is where they sacrificed animals to worship God. The temple laws governed the types of sacrifices & all of the rituals associated with worship. The closest we come to instituting temple law is that we are to sacrifice ourselves through offering all our thoughts, words, & deeds to God. Edit: punctuation to improve clarity😆

The temple no longer exists therefore temple sex cults no longer exist therefore that law no longer exists...especially given that that was originally the only type of sex the law referred to thus was applicable to. If you're going to use that logic to explain the diminishing of some laws then it rightfully should apply to all the activities included within the structures. The only reason the 1st covenant laws and rules are still alive is because ppl still devote themselves to El and he has jurisdictional prudence and reign until the end times when the anti-christ and Christ finish the remaining prophesies. Christ gave us a new pathway to the creator of all things, not just the creator of Heaven and earth (i.e. the Elohim who created the heavenly zodiac and laws of the earth for governance as seen, described, and illustrated in Genesis). Every tittle and jot. It's not every stroke and the other thing said. This also shouldn't have been changed through translation as it has meaning regarding the missing letters that hide and obscure true meaning...talk about irony.
Heavenly Father, please give me wisdom and help me to understand the concept in this lesson. I have struggled with understanding the “old law” and Jesus fulfilling the law.
