So, we read the book, get afraid, get angry, stop thinking and get manipulated. I do like to know why I do things. The book does innoculate us against the types of manipulation it discusses. We can't avoid being influenced but it seems preferable to know how we arrive at our decisions.
David Andrews yes! Reading and the diversity in reading and info sources is a big deal to independent thinking. There are many that have come back and said he’s overstated capabilities in this book . This is the type of language in the Wikipedia entry on this whole situation . But I’m with you. We def got to practice hearing and then assessing for ourselves what we believe in this day and age. It’s too easy to have our social media algos feed us very one sided opinions that turn our brains off and make us susceptible. Thx so much for commenting!!!
This is the most terrifying book I think I've ever read. Made me glad not to use Facebook. And it definitely made me pay even more attention to manipulation after reading it.
I just recently found you on RU-vid and have been watching a lot of your content, all of which is informative and interesting. Thank you for doing this.
