Day at the Range St. Patrick's Day Challenge CZ457 LRP - SK Standard Plus
2024 ST. PATRICK’S DAY CHALLENGE
FUN CHALLENGE DESIGNED BY DAYATTHERANGE & RIMFIRELABS
RANGE - 50 YARDS
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
No time constraints this time.
As many spotters as you need.
1 shot ONLY per circle - total of 25 rounds
5 Points if the circle is fully intact
2 Points if the black line of a circle is broken
0 Points for miss.
Most important have fun and introduce the challenge to someone.
Tell your story by submitting your target and and pictures of your rifles. Additional information for the cool factor would be to include your state and or country you are from, REPRESENT you will get your own page dedicated specifically to you and your pictures.

Biggest lesson I've learned in my journey this far is that shooting targets is way harder than shooting groups. That was a fine job, sir!

Nice job, like that you were calling out your wind holds on camera. I think on a calmer day the SK Standard Plus would have a better showing!

Very good shooting in that breeze Ryan. Very Impressive and good windage calls. Your CZ seems to like that Standard Plus...must try some in mine. We have very limited ammo availability here in NZ and I have been shooting Fiocchi Offical and standard 300 and 320 but still very variable. Have you tried any through yours and if so how did it go? Looks like Eli changed the target a bit from his original by adding those green dots in the center too...that'll make it a bit easier methinks. Now off to give it a go! Great vid as always.

I've been having fun with my new CZ 457 American lately. I chose it because I don't like the short fat barrel on the Varmint and MTR model. I prefer the sporter look and nicer stock on the Americans. I knew going into it that it would not shoot as well as the heavy barrel models. Shot a 62 with it the other day, but didn't post the target, after glass bedding it. Now that I have some better ammo, I'll have to give this one another try with the CZ. Good shooting. Your rifle is "stove piping" them, I'm wondering if the magazine is bad?? Mine runs like a hot knife through butter. No extraction, ejection or feeding issues at all... I saw you posted another video with a better score. I'd expect that rifle to shoot better, with that ammo.. It seems like everyone says their CZ's love the SK Standard Plus.

Standard plus and my 10.22 (I use my 457 for bunny bashing), and I get one hole with 10 rounds. An amazing combo IMHO..

I wonder if a trigger shim would help. It did the trick on my tikka. Measured the head space and and installed the .03 and 99% fixed.

There was also a guy that shot a 10/22, that beat F class John as well. Boy was using a bi-pod and almost bone stock rifle, old Burris AR scope, and 32 year old ammo. Damn...

Hey I have one of my cz457s that does that it doesn't eject the empty so I got valquarson Ejectors and it helped some what but still is not perfect let me know if you you find a cure please. Beagleman

How do you like that discovery scope? I have been watching a few reviews about it but only one guy actually shot any targets with it. He said he liked it for a budget scope.

Well I took my vortex razor hd off of my cz to test it and I liked it better so it’s on my cz for good now and that’s what I shoot the most.

Unless you have a crazy large budget (Schmidt and bender , zero compromise, nightforce) I’d stay at max 25-27x. The most expensive optic I have is my Vortex Razor HD 5-20 and it does alright but to be fair my Discovery PRS ED 5-25 is just as clear as the razor on max power. But if I had unlimited budget I would go Schmidt & Bender. Not sure if this answers your question. But unless you are planning elr kipe of shooting as in 1500 plus yards you really don’t need the top tier stuff.
