Good luck on your adventure wherever the trail may lead you. Been watching the channel since your first FHT hike. I appreciate your positivity and gratitude. Thank you for bringing us along.
Blood Mountain brings back memories.......Mountain Crossings as well. Enjoy the next 20 miles of GA, probably the easiest of the GA section. Rooting for ya!
Thanks to all the trail maintenance team members. So glad you are having a good time. Little Bear, glad you got to see orange kitty. Hope you continue to have many, happy trails ahead. You've got this.
What a wonderful day for you both! I hope you enjoyed your time in the cabin💕 so glad you were able to be somewhere warm and dry when the weather got ugly.😊
"Good morning sun". That warmed my heart in Christ and with a shout out to Nonnie☀️🌸! She actually is who clued me into your hike this year, even before Tara's announcements video👏. Very special woman! Wild Boar cabin looks like a great place to rest your bodies and refresh - ahhhhhhh 😊
Orange kitty!!! 😻 I have to agree on the Northside of Blood mountain. It is very technical and much more of a terrain challenge compared to the Southside.
Those trail maintenance guys were awesome! I never thought about having to re-route water to keep it off the trail. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that must be done so we can enjoy it!
The sunrise made me long to visit the Appalachians. If I lived near the trail I would absolutely enjoy being a trail maintainer. What a great job. Enjoy your zero day. Take care.
Glad you had such a great weather day for Blood Mtn. That is the 1st time I've ever seen that hammer imprint in the Blood Mtn shelter. Can't believe I've never seen that before LOL!
My wife and I did the Georgia section hike last week. We saw you eating your pizza and wanted to say hi and good luck. But after we got a few snacks y’all were already gone. Enjoy the journey and now we can watch from home.
.. Good Morning Lady Bears ... Certainly was a beautiful day to be on trail ... Hmm ,, ice cream sandwich for breakfast trail eats .. such a life ... Can't believe the maintenance crews are restricted from power tools ,, seems a little excessive ... now adays there is even battery powered chainsaws that do pretty well ,, a couple extra batteries could get through the day ,,,, but their modified "pack" saw was impressive ... Little Bear is definitely an animal whisperer , they all love her ... and why not , she has a beautiful spirit ... .. Wow, that trail cabin is plenty fancy in my book ,,very nice ... with the burnt wall above the stove ,, either something wrong with the stove venting or careless dweller .. Curious as to your daily miles so far , knowing you are building strength and trail legs ... Stay Safe and God Bless ...
My b/f and I so look forward to your vlogs. You 2 are amazing & are our favorite on trail now. So cool to hear u r from Melbourne. I used to live there and worked at SeaPines Rehab but now live outside Daytona Beach. My b/f and I are section hikers. We finished Ga last year and now working on NC. I think u kind of mentioned me in an earlier vlog when u mentioned norovirus and 2 rescues so far off the mountain. I was rescued off the mountain weekend of 3/23 from dehydration d/t stomach virus. Please be safe and wash hands with soap. They told me hand sanitizer does not kill the virus. Happy Trails! ✌🏻❤️🥾
Enjoying your adventure! You both are doing well and living life! I had to laugh a little when the trail guys from Georgia called you ‘Flatlanders’. When I moved to Vermont to start my career with IBM, we bought our first house in the town of Huntington which sits at the base of Camels Hump mountain. Are new neighbors called us ‘Flatlanders’ when they found out we were from NY🤣. My hometown, Binghamton, NY is by no means a flat area but we took it all stride. Our neighbors were true Vermonters. What is a true Vermonter? Anyone whose family history goes back to 5 generations! Hmmmm I think that leaves very few Vermonters in Vermont, right?🤣. Take it easy and rest up, you two! Forever onward!👍🥾⛰️
Awesome on the cabin 👍that flower looked like a trillium about to bloom one of my favorites. Lil bear looks like a strong hiker you may have trouble keeping up with her pace lol. Safe travels. Thanks for sharing y’all’s journey 👍🥾
You both are doing amazing 👏 and little bear 🐻 I laughed so hard when you saw the privy before blood mountain and you said a poop with a view 😆 🤣 keep up the great work hope to see you in NH..would love to see you and do a trail magic.. happy trails lady's keep it your own hike and listen to your body's!! Glad to watch you both on this amazing journey 👍
Good morning always Mama Bear and Little Bear!! Good to see the two of you! Molly Rose did post a vid yesterday! Hopefully we get to see vids of a few others meeting on trail! Good day to both of you!
The windows were taken out because people broke the glass, and also taken out to discourage hikers from sleeping in the shelter. The fireplace used to be maintained by the Ga Appalachian Trail Club, but it was filled in to prevent fires from being built. Fear was that shelter might burn down and it is the oldest Shelter on the AT (or in Ga.). Usually the mice keep most campers out, but if it was pouring, I would be tempted to take shelter from the weather.
Lovely video, Mama Bear. I loved the talk with the GATC guys. They work so hard to keep the trail in excellent condition in GA. You two are killing it. I'm not sure if you are still in GA, but I hope to run into yall this weekend.
Loving watching you both on such a great adventure. Do you have future hopes to keep doing other through hikes like the PCT? You both are doing such a great job! 👏⛰️🚶♀️🥾🚶♀️⛰️
Aaaaahaaaaaa! Melbourne ❤️ Sebastian here! But I moved from N Georgia when I retired. I love it here but I do miss the mountains!!! I’ve lived all over the mountains, Dahalonega in particular. Good going ladies. ❤️❤️❤️

We took Tuesday off as well and retreated to the cabin with my wife and daughter. We went back for a little more on Wednesday with my nephew before he had to leave. 🚶♂️🐻🚶♀️🐻👟👟👟👟⛺ beautiful sunrise the trail maintenance people are great big thanks 💯♥️ awe orange Kitty is so sweet.thats a cute little cabin enjoy your zero 🐻🐻
Curious as to what Little Bear’s pack weighs and if you carry any of her gear. Pack weight as percentage of body weight, she must have one of the heaviest packs out there. She’s TOUGH, that’s for sure.
I'm sure you know this, so perhaps you're doing it on purpose, but the rubber caps on trekking poles are intended to protect them in storage, and not really for use on the trail. The poles will grip much better if you remove the rubber caps and let the carbide tips do what they are supposed to do.

Did you take the tips off? Can you share the difference please?
Hey Momma Bear, do you have Bear Spray? I understand that the NW North Carolina bear population has been growing at about 6% a year and although there seems to be plenty of acorns in the fall to supply their pre-sleep food source, I get concerned about the Spring. Happy Trails! -Hound Dog Hiker
Most AT hikers don't bring bear spray, as black bears don't attack humans (usually). They're naturally afraid of humans so you can just scare them away by making some noise. They only become dangerous when people make human food available to them (by not storing it properly) therefore leading the bears to associate people with food. Nonetheless, it's pretty uncommon to carry bear spray on the AT since it's usually useless, and thru hikers have to worry about how much weight they're carrying, and only carry necessary items (i.e. stuff that's used every or almost every day).
the Pastor of our Mennonite Church is attempting a thru hike - He's hiking with his 16 year old daughter. They are doing a flip-flop starting from Virginia- will hike to Springer then drive back to their Virginia start point then head NOBO from there. His name is Dale and his daughter is JJ (Julia Joy) You will pass them on our NOBO --as they will SOBO
Lol, dear Bears...I too left from Lance Creek Campsite, headed to Neels Gap and had to laugh when I noticed we caught sunrise at what looks like the same spot as in your video. Hey we even chose the same green grid fleece, too funny. You can see what I mean in clip I attached. God bless you Little Bear and Mama Bear, happy trails. Great videos , keep em coming. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q9yWKM52jl4.html
Heads up the hi winds can blow down trees along the trail last year lost pice off trekking pole cud not find the tiny scow to fix it tree fail in front of me up trail a ways the had of God was over me that day losing that pice save my life
. . . dogs are fun on the trail, but, owners must be responsible, no shelters, short leash, poop bags, food and total control. My Florida girls, hike on . . . following. 1🌲 at a time . . .
100% agree. We follow all of the above when we take our dogs on trail. My husband has been a police K-9 handler and trainer for over 25 years, so we understand the importance of the things you say. 🐾💙🙏🏼
Nice campsite???? Never camp there. It's titled appropriately - Slaughter Gap. It's haunted by several hundred Cherokee spirits. Know the history of Blood Mtn.
@@wildflowersadventures i watched your video an you said thedog name was Karma so just asking about the dog 🐕 unless i’m wrong 😑 and the dog had a different name
@@nymph40 That was really funny! Good karma versus bad karma😂 Maybe the dog’s name wasn’t karma, but Carla? Or maybe mama bear was just playing along and like you, was playing on the word karma. Well, if the pup’s name really was karma, then even if mama bear doesn’t believe in karma, she still met karma and saw karma with her own eyes, lol 😂 I’m really loving their hike and I really appreciate all the hard work they did to prepare. I know it is paying off and it will continue paying off for them. God bless them, and God bless you! ❤
