Join me on a relaxing and much needed day hike in the Smoky Mountains. I explored Middle Prong Trail and Panther Creek (both beautiful!), and navigated my way across a slippery rock-hop.
HIKING ITINERARY
- Parked at the Middle Prong trailhead (35.617966, -83.669751) past Tremont.
- Started my hike on the Middle Prong Trail (*Note: keep left at the sign for the Middle Prong Trail. The other trail leads to a dead end...or even better, do both!).
- Middle Prong Trail to Panther Creek Trail (*Note: there is a water crossing at the intersection of Middle Prong and Panther Creek trail. You will likely get your feet wet, and it high water it could be potentially dangerous. Stay safe!).
- Panther Creek Trail to Jake's Gap.
- Yo-yo back to the car!

Welcome to my random musings on all things backpacking. If you haven't already guessed, my name is Dan. I was bit by the backpacking bug in 2014 and since then haven't gone one day without thinking about my next adventure. I'm from Chicago, a great city but...not so much known for its bountiful backpacking opportunities. Nevertheless, I haven't let that stop me from enjoying the outdoors. Hope my videos leave you with one or two takeaways, or even better, inspire you to head out on the trail. Thanks for watching! Have fun out there!
