Amanda! Your video quality is looking great! I’m a tech nerd...your audio on the windy shots actually sounded really great! Was that just the GoPro doing it’s magic?? Very impressed with the audio capabilities if so!

Thank you! For a lot of the talking sections in this video, I was using the GoPro. It does a really good job in the wind. I also used a Rode VideoMic pro in this video, but it takes longer for me to set up, so I tend to grab the GoPro for quick talking clips.

@@amanda.outside good audio makes a huge difference and yours sounded great. Thanks for the info! Been looking at picking up one of those Rode mics. I use the Rode videomicro sometimes and it’s good for portability but the quality is of course lacking a little. Enjoyed the vid and actually heading to goblin valley area this weekend 😃

Hello Amanda, I come from Germany and in September 2018 I was in the Goblin Valley, one of my favorite places. I'm afraid that due to the "new times" it will no longer be possible to travel to the USA, which really wears me out. I love Goblin Valley State Park. It is often overlooked as people go to Moab. Really need to be cautious and aware of heat as one can dehydrate quickly without realizing it as you hike. Distance is deceiving in the valley and get back to parking lot before dark...there are NO LIGHTS! Great spot for taking pics of Milky Way.

Great video as always! We love the the whole San Rafael Swell area and can’t wait to be back there in a month or so. When you were pulling the stickers from your leg i had flashback to a few years ago when one of our teenage sons rolled into a cactus while out bouldering in western Colorado (not all that far from Goblin Valley). It took my wife and I at least two hours to pluck all the needles out of his leg with tweezers and multi tool pliers while he winced and shed some tears. Once he was “plucked”, he was pretty much back to normal activity despite area that was tender & little swollen for a few days. PS: I highly recommend including tweezers in outdoor/vehicle first aid kits; amazing how often they end up being used.

Ouch! I definitely would not want to fall into a cactus. Luckily I had an easy time getting all the needles out from whatever bush I walked into! Glad you enjoyed the video. The San Swell area is one of my favorite places to go in the Spring and Fall!

Haha I’ve gotten so many questions about my hair lately and honestly I have no idea why it’s not more of a mess on these camping trips! 😂 I don’t do anything to it. Maybe that’s the secret! The banana bread was SO good. The recipe will be up on the blog soon!

@@amanda.outside GIRL your hair is just a natural wonder then because let me tell you doing nothing to my hair doesn't make it look that good - I go without a shower for a few days and oh man. Camping last fall my husband's hair was sticking straight up in the air and I was like dude your hair's a mess and he was like um honey you should see your own - it was so bad 😂

It looks so beautiful there! Do you ever worry about/encounter any snakes when camping & hiking in the desert? I have a huuuge snake phobia but your desert videos really make me want to check out the area! I live in the PNW, not much desert here. Lol Love your content, Amanda!

I've definitely encountered snakes. I'm for sure mindful of their existence, but I don't stress about them. I'm pretty comfortable being able to identify poisons snakes such as the rattlesnake and I take precautions such as not sticking my hands or feet in thick brush or cracks in rocks. In all my years living in Utah, I've seen about 4 rattlesnakes!

Hey Amanda! fun video :) I had never heard of goblin valley before, it looks really cool! also that banana bread looked super yummy! on that note, would you consider making a video on cast iron cookware 101 sorta video? ie. buying an expensive cast iron pan vs. a low budget one, care, also choosing a dutch oven. Since you really seem to utilize your cast iron cookware and make many recipes in them, your input would be very beneficial :)

Amazing!! Goblin Valley is now on my bucket list. We're thinking of moving back out west. You've talked about wanting to live in Idaho, so I wanted to ask if you think Utah or Idaho is the best for nature-lovers, hikers, campers, etc., in terms of dispersed camping, quiet & safe hiking spots, and weather.

I live in Utah, so I know Utah better than Idaho, but honestly they’re both so beautiful. One of the things that’s more unique to Utah is that you get both the desert and mountains!

I love Little Wild Horse. It's such a beautiful slot canyon. The hike I did in Goblin Valley is called the Goblins Lair and I loved it. It does require some scrambling, but it was a really fun hike!

This is such a silly question, totally out of left-field-- but you always have the most fun bright nail polish colors: how on Earth is it not chipped all over the place on your trips? Is it gel? Do you have a magical top-coat the rest of us don't know about? Help out us other outdoorsy girls who want to have fun fingers!

haha so here are all the details - I paint them myself, but I use either gel nail polish with a light, or a dip nail kit. Both the gel nails and the dip nails last for so long. I usually want to change the color before they chip. I think the dip nails last longer, but overall I prefer the gel nails. I don't like dealing with all the powder from the dip nail kit and I prefer to just paint the polish on.

Guess you have an aluminum Dutch Oven to make the bread in. That’s a stay in camp till after noon type of bread for sure. From experience that sand has to come out or it will eat your tent up. Just don’t get it in your eyes or you’ll have on miserable day. Thanks for sharing your video with us.
