Funeral directors and all deathworkers are SO IMPORTANT in society! We do not thank these people enough. Thank a funeral director, mortician, embalmer, cemetery operator, and any funeral home staff today
Especially when they kidnap your bank account just because you’ve lost a loved one and that loved one deserves the “best”. That’s code for, you’re emotional so of course it’s ok to rip you off. I’m NOT saying they shouldn’t be evenly compensated but from personal experiences, some people just suck and of course I’m NOT saying that they’re all this way. I just can’t stand it when people, especially “professionals” use your emotions against you in the name of financial gain.
@@jem117 last time I checked it was from anywhere 5,000 to 20,000 depending on how big the funeral is but I'm not much of a specialist on this so I'm probably wrong on this but they do steal your money death is not a cheap business
@@OlinKreutzRules I'm a funeral service operative and I completely agree. We all agree with you. But a vast majority of us in the industry don't have a say in the pricing. That's really up to the owner. We make minimum wage and yet we're the ones removing dead bodies from homes, dressing them, putting them in the coffins, delivering the coffins to different branches, driving the hearses, limosines and pall bearing. Our embalmers, grave diggers, arrangers and a vast majority of our directors have no say in it either. Just the fat cats who sit back in their offices and don't have to lift a finger. So it's a tough job for us but we do acknowledge that families are being charged far too much. We don't like it either.
As an European Funeral Director with 18 years and counting on my track, i have huge respect for this lady. Such a wise words. Don't take life for granted. U never know when things change.
You did an excellent job showing the public what a funeral director does. It takes a special person to be a funeral director due to the demands of the career. Thank you for your dedication to helping people in their most difficult times. Stay safe and healthy.
Theresa, Thank you for this video. Sending Hugs to you and please don’t forget how much you are appreciated every moment that you come in contact with grieving families and friends.
I just retired from the National cemetery and now work part time in a funeral home here in Northern California I’ve been helping with services and pick ups, your videos are very inspiring thank you and god bless.
Ms. Star thank you for taking the time to view this "Day In The Life" with me as the funeral director. There is sadness in my voice and heart! Helping grieving families is humbling every day and does become a lifestyle. The most valuable take away for me from funeral service is to appreciate each day, each person, each breath and every relationship in your life because life is so precious and delicate that it could all change in an instant. Be aware of who you are as a person and always grow mentally and emotionally. Please do not feel content with a normal day to day routines. Be bold and be brave try something new or say hello to a stranger! Life is beautiful and death can be too.
Lord bless you. I enjoyed watching this video and gained much more respect of the scope of your work and industry. I am considering being or taking on a role as such. You are my, "neighbor," so to speak...I am in Arizona. Take care of yourself and family. Thank you.
It was great meeting Teresa. She seems like a great woman. Also… The whiteboard should be on a computer program that’s on a large TV monitor though. I kept thinking she would accidentally erase the wrong line. No undo.
I was in Santa Fe a year and a half ago. It was on my bucket list. I absolutely loved it. I’ve never seen such a clean place not even cigarette butts on the ground. It was wonderful. My son and I stayed at in Casita on somebody’s property was an Airbnb. It was great not to change the subject.
I’m always interested to know what bigger city cremation percentages are. I am a funeral director in a small southern town and we are at an almost 50% cremation rate. I imagine that would be significantly higher in a bigger city. Makes me wonder if this percentage keeps climbing, soon there won’t be any profit for funeral homes unless cremation rates go up to match burial rates. If that doesn’t happen, I think that funeral homes will start closing their doors in record numbers and the state will end up having to take over death care.
My wife is Balinese. Her name is Jero Tya. We do ceremonies all the time for people whose family members have died but it looks a lot brighter. First of all we do it outside not in a dark building.
Chris thank you for taking the time to watch A Day In The Life, I think it is wonderful what Timur is doing with this series of A Day In The Life. He presents a very interesting perspective of industries we don't really know about but would like to know more about. I have watched them all more than once.
You are so awesome and respectful of the deased! I hope someday when it is my turn to pass someone like you work on me! No can replace someone like you! From ohio
Think this lady sounds like she's on the verge of crying because she cares too much I think she's given too much to this hard job and it's affected her
I know my cousin late husband side owns a funeral home in North St. Paul, Sandberg funeral home. And Connie late parents are my Godparents to me and she bought two cemetery plots and friend did plot benches for me and husband.
Is it common to have the cremation part of it and if you’re not home I live in New Jersey and they have to do it like way my parents for cremated, they have to take them like an hour away to the cremation place because it can’t be near people they said.
I was not sad nor depressed. Once you work in the death care industry for some time it becomes part of who you are. I really am a feeler and can relate to families experiencing difficult losses. In this industry there are certain words you take out of your vocabulary along with tone of voice. I didn't want to be to excitable when working with grieving families. You can say it became a part of my DNA. I thank you for the comment and taking the time to watch this Day In The Life.
I feel her pain as all u should cause even she knows a human should never pay to be put in the ground. It's sad that even in death Someone wants to talk money it's actually sick.
She may not be the one actually fucking you over in your time of grief and sadness, but she's 100% there watching it happen, and holding down your arms.... Bottom line here people, it's super expensive to die, and those of us without a plan who don't have one duck in a row, your spouse/family will be paying through their nose at the worst possible time. Can't make the payment? That's okay! Funeral home's will place a levy against your vehicle, home, bank account and make your SSDI/VA/Retirement and or any GOVT. assistances will have a BIG part of it coming to them monthly.
How is the person wrong? They get their money or those things do happen. Save save save. You're gonna need between $5,000 +. Depends on cremation or burial. Burial with no service or embalming is around $12,000. And again I say.. they WILL get their money.
@@theresawestfall4212 ok good That’s the one thing that keeps me from joining this industry is my weak faith sometimes I’m like a 5/10 sometimes I believe sometimes I don’t even tho my sister is saved and says she feels god and speaks tongues and stuff
@Kylewraps-HisHandAroundHisCock well maybe this will help you....I grew up in twelve different states across U.S every new city I lived in my mom would make me be baptized, blessed etc I have been catholic, Mormon, Lutheran, Baptist and Christian so I think having an open mind van be helpful it's not about religion but you feel and believe in which aligns with your values.
It's her guilty conscience. Don't be fooled it only a job to her and others that work in that industry. It's a huge money making business and most funeral homes have been purchased by huge wealthy corporations. It's a numbers game for their investors and stock holders. ...........
There is someone else who left the comment stating that the reimbursement rates are quite low and that if they go any lower, there's not gonna be much profit leaving these facilities to be state run.
