Hi allison! I love your vlogs. As far as the sweet potatoes go, they dont grow from planting the sweet potato itself. It will make a pretty ground cover but wont produce. You have to plant what they call "slips". Its rooted vines that you can get from a coop

Hi Allison! Fellow gardener here! 👩🏼‍🌾 I live in zone 9b and this was my second year growing sweet potatoes. My first year I dug too early and pulled them when they were way too small! This year I pulled at 120 days and got about 12! They’re currently curing in a closet! BUT next year I’m going to plant them directly in the ground instead of my raised beds - I’ve since learned that sweet potatoes actually grow super well in Florida’s sandy soil. The sand allows the sweet potatoes to spread out and grow even bigger. So that’s where I’m at! I’m looking forward to trying again next spring. Your garden looks amazing! ❤

Brown rice in the instant pot takes half that time! Once everything heats up and the instant pot seals, it cooks for 12 minutes and comes out perfectly!

Regarding sweet potatoes, I always separate the slips from the potato before planting. They are different from russet potatoes etc in that way (probably because they aren’t in the same family). I would give that a go next time. Otherwise your vines look beautiful so I bet you could definitely grow a few tubers in there. Thank you for always being a light in our days! ❤

The depth of your planter is a bit shallow for sweet potatoes. They require 18” depth. In general your soil level could be higher in all your planters.

Ok so anyone correct me if I’m wrong but I think with the sweet potatoes, those slips that the potato grew need to grow their own roots. I’ve seen people clip off the slips and propagate them in water so they form roots. Then you plant those and those should produce new sweet potatoes

You could try digging around the stem of sweet potato (without picking it out) to check how are they doing. That way, you can see if it's too early to dig them out without disturbing them too much.

And get a little counter dehydrator..you can take your excess vegetables and herbs and dry them and crush them and store them in small jars. It wont overwhelm you and you can have it for later, no waste. I am purchasing one. There us just me so I wont need a big one but I am excited to try it.

Hi Allison. I really enjoy watching your videos. Very pleasant and informative content. As it relates to the sweet potatoes. I believe that you are not suppose to plant the sweet potato itself in the garden. You use the sweet potatoe to create the slips. Then you would take the slips with the roots (you may need to put the slips in a jar of water to propagate the roots). You plant only the slips into the soil. Maybe 4-5 slips in a garden bed your size. Then you would wait several months. 4-5 months before digging them. Typically dig them when the leaves start dying back in the early fall. Please note planting sweet potatoes differs from the white potatoes. As white potatoes you will plant actual pieces of a seed potatoe whereas the sweet potato it is only the slips. No part of the actual sweet potato is planted. Good luck!

Mrs Allison My mother recently found your RU-vid channel and has fallen in love with it. She has been really discouraged because she broke her foot in three places about month and 3 weeks ago I forgot to add the month or auto correct took it off and the healing process has not been what it should be at least that’s by the doctor.
