Rolling pickups are great for the catcher to feel the load and offensive move under and up beneath the ball.

nope its new school to catch the ball with ur glove moving up, gets u alot more strike calls on the bottom of the zone. Started a couple of years ago in the majors.

@treadathletics I don't doubt it works, but only time will tell if the reason most of the framing stat leaders are using it is because it's what's popular right now or if it's the reason they are the framing leaders. Some of the best framers in the league still use different methods. You also have to consider that there is a trade off of not giving a consistent target through pitch release.
