I love watching your videos. I have recently graduated in becoming a fellow Metro Transit City bus driver. I'm on my own now...(bites nails) 😂😂😂 It's not bad...I want to drink water but I don't get much time to go to the restroom l...gotta keep your time..,it does get frustrating at times.
@@PascalGienger I think I moved around that time. I’ll be setting a new one up shortly! I appreciate you sending me something though..that’s really cool!!
Well done, please keep up with more clips. As bus driver from Australia 🇦🇺, our occupation is not easy. There's a lots responsibility on our shoulders.
Thank you so much! I would love to become a bus driver for one of my favorite cities and transit systems. It's always great to hear another bus drivers perspective on how the day typically goes.
Im glad that you have a passenger limit. My transit authority doesnt have one. Makes me nervous during a pandemic. One time I had 70 people on a 60 footer. Not a lot of room to spread out. Stay safe out there.
That’s crazy!! Stay as safe as possible!! We are definitely facing some challenges right now in this industry. Nobody on the corporate side would want to be on a bus that full..but they are willing to throw the drivers out there...
Maybe a low floor 60' footer, most high floor 40' footers before ADA became law were 53 passenger coaches, when ADA required wheelchair lifts they were 44 passengers, now with ADA low floor it's 38 passengers seated that's a loss of 15 seats on a standard 40 foot coach.
I wish everyday citizens knew what all goes into being a bus driver. If they did, they would give us more respect. Yes it's our job and we get paid...but public transit, especially over the road (I do Greyhound) is a whole different animal. Eventually I actually want to switch over to city transit to do something different.
Great video. I was a transit operator for 24 years. I've been retired now for going on 17 years. I enjoyed my job also. Like you said there is a lot of stress in it but rewarding at the same time. Good luck to you:))
I started driving city buses in Phoenix in 1999,we've been using the rear door for boarding and de boarding the bus in a week we're going to start using the front door again. I like driving a bus to me is like a moving office. Our # 1 operator retired last month after 41 years of service driving a bus, the current # 1 in seniority has been with us 40 years so my 22 years is nothing compared to them. Greetings to all bus drivers worldwide keep up the good work!!!!. I'm getting close to my 2 millions miles and the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round.........
Good video! What a shift. If anything I would prefer early mornings, late evenings, etc. I think relieving a driver is one of the best things ever as well. Also, could you tell us about you all uniform. I see it’s very different from some transit agencies. I know some offer jackets, sweaters, shoes, scarfs, etc. I think that’s so neat and professional.
Hey Keywan, Question: When you set your steering wheel, do you ride with it down (facing your chest), flat (facing the ceiling), or overflat (facing the ceiling at an angle)? Lots of folk we know ride with it flat or overflat. Just was curious.
Love my home town Sacramento but our public transportation sucks. I say that because in middle school which was over 12 years ago it was chaotic . RT buses were assigned for our “school buses”. Kids would be throwing water bottles, yelling, etc but it’s cool to see what it’s like working with RT
Nice video keep it up I love your video Keywan bro also in London we are taking 14 people on single decker Buses and for double decker Buses we taking 30 people on the buses also it was nice to see a day of life of a Bus Driver in the USA this was the best video you did nice video keep it up Keywan bro and don't give up
I want people to also think about school bus monitors who keep kids safe, and help the bus drivers concentrate on doing their jobs, driving their routes, and reducing their stress as much as possible so that kids can focus on their learning, and so that families can stay together.
Don't waste your time of life by work for getting a Driver license for become a Bus driver. Trust me, when you young, you're hyped on this job. But wehn you getting a bit more Matured, you have to realize what a slave and Pain in the ass job that is.. Trust me, it is not woth it at all!
Don't listen to the negative comments. I've been driving for 5 years. My only regret is I didn't start when I turned 21. 50 now and I've had way harder jobs. Not gonna lie there are times I just wanted to throw in the towel and quit. But when you drive in the snow in a electric bus where the it popped into neutral and no chains (one side engaged) down a 7 percent grade on ice and snow I can handle anything this job throws at you. Talk about a butt clencher. We do not get the love and respect we deserve. I honestly try to help my community but you have 2% unfortunate people who try to ruin my day. My biggest complaint is passengers not having pass or money ready and lying about not having fare granted the fare doesn't come out of my paycheck. This especially happens when driving our rapid routes. Overall best job I've ever had and plan on retiring from this job provided my health stays good. One last thing, getting your class B CDL will open doors for other jobs if transit driving doesn't work you.
Im about to be a bus driver soon. They will train me. Wish me luck bro im your 730th sub your channel has some amazing algorithms for the size. All i.typed was " being a bus driver "
Hey!! Thanks so much and that’s awesome that you were able to find my small channel! I wish you the best on your journey!! It’s a great but challenging job! You’ll be great!
I had 2 drug addicts(1 male, 1 female) earlier beg for a free ride. I let them on. The female is a regular and I now know who the guy is that she’s always arguing with on the phone when she rides by herself. This is almost on a daily basis. The only reason why I even let them ride is because they were both carrying 5-7 grocery bags and I’m not going to let their food spoil by declining them a ride, that plus I knew their stop where to get off was only 15 minutes into the outbound route. Just as I leave downtown and enter a main highway where I need to be extremely cautious of speeding, oncoming traffic, the male and female begin arguing extremely loud. I tried yelling back and asked them to keep it down. They ignored me and the woman even swore at me. When they both ran out of breath I warned them. Not even 30 seconds later, she begins punching him because he “dropped their crack” all over the floor of the bus. Now she’s freaking out at the tops of her lungs picking up pieces of crack cocaine. I knew that out transit police and supervisors were handling an accident so I knew that requesting to have them removed was going to take longer than it would to just drop them off. I asked all of the other passengers to please stay away from them and apologized. I drove a little faster than normal to get them to where they needed to go. They began punching and choking each other as they were exiting. Then I had to take my bus back to the garage to get a new one because the bus was contaminated with drugs all over the floor and if a small child boarded my bus and picked it up that could be a serious situation. There goes my layover(break) so I had to eat vending machine snacks instead of hitting up Wendy’s like I planned. Ah the life of a bus driver. Keep in mind that this was my first trip of the day. An easy job……. The nerve of some people lol.
Last time I rode public transit bus was summer of 1982! Been a long haul trucker for last 28 years. Have public busses adopted mobile payments like Google wallet directly or does customer have to run transaction via some bus transit app? When I was a kid 50 cents on Seattle Metro could take me from north Seattle to down town. Bet cost are higher now 😆.
The pandemic really has changed everything. In May 2020, Montréal now has a whole 45 minute detour going around in a big circle heading South to Gare Centrale (which is in downtown Montréal), and yeah. The cars have been reduced because the ridership is low ever since pandemic hit.
With all the switches and buttons...why are they labeled with text and not symbols? Is this an American thing? Because in Europe i haven't seen a single bus that had text instead of symbols. I would expect this is because of ease of use, but i would prefer symbols...
I start my training in 2 weeks and came across your videos and there’s more to this then I thought….. do buses have turn to turn signal (gps) or is it by paper??
Bus Driver Life also been meaning to ask you when you first started working for the transit company you work for now did they first gave you night shifts?
9:18 That traffic light at Greenback and Sunrise is a real pain. If you're a outbound 23 or 1 line, there's times where I have to go through 2 light cycles to get all the way through it.
I've been watching some of your videos tonight. Thumbs up. I am still laughing about key his car - bend his bus pass. I will laugh in my head about that next time I get on a bus as well. Stay safe.
So I was thinking of becoming a city bus driver and am currently studying at TCU/IAM at the San Jose jobcorp but was wondering r u with the VTA bus system and if I may ask a few questions about bus driving
My sister lives in Roseville. I ironically live in the Albany NY, The capital of New York State. Love your videos and the information you put out, was thinking of leaving my railroad job for bus driving.
I can't believe i'm just seeing this video! When i relieve a driver, i do a walk around, checking for leaks, the tires, bike rack, windows and doors. I also wipe down my area. When passengers exit the bus, i spray the entire bus. When i get back to the yard, i do a post-trip inspection. I do another walk around, checking for leaks, leaning, doors, windows, etc. i examine the interior, and do a break check. Now i have a paper version of the check list that i keep in my clipboard, if anything happens during the route, i can notate it on the paper version checklist, so when i get back to the yard, i can enter it into the clever so that there is a digital version, as well as a paper version...
I was loooking if any transit companies were hiring and I found one in Burlington Canada they need literally more bus operators so I’m gonna apply once I’m 21
Once pandemic over and our boarders open up, I like to come over there and hope you can shows me a life of bus driver in California, it's a cultural experience.
Lol. I love how you said that, "not say the other driver is dirty or nasty". The truth is the matter is, sometimes they are. Not to mention those long drives without a restroom break, they may pee themselves a little
What's Up Keywan! I wish I had discovered your RU-vid channel sooner! It's nice to see how drivers in other cities do there thing! All my bus company provided during the pandemic was latex gloves, hand sanitizer and masks. There was no passenger limit. If you had 50 people on the bus, you just had 50 people on the bus. 6 of our drivers tested positive for COVID but thank God they all recovered and the cases were mild. Keep safe on these streets and I look forward to more content!
Sometimes the bus drivers don’t get to the bus stop at all because their bus is broken down or they simply ran out of go go gas and at my town they’ve got a deal with a wrecker to drive over to the bus put it on the fork and haul it off to be repaired or something. Does The transit company have that in your town?
They have a social media policy so I make sure that I abide by that. I don’t mention the company name and all opinions are my own and not theirs so it’s all good!
I’m surprised your company lets you use your phone to record while your driving. We get a 5 day suspension if they see our phone or we look like we have our phone out while the bus is moving
I hope everything goes well!! I don’t really discuss extremely specific things to the company on this channel...sorry about that!! They can and will give you all of that info though for sure!
@@BusDriverLife I did notice that you don’t mention management in your videos. Hahahahaha. Smart. I used to take videos WHILE DRIVING my bus back before there were rules against it.
just subbed i love this bro from a pro athlete and bus driver keep it up also you should talk about health we are having to many drivers not taking care of them selves not realizing this job decays our bodys and to avoid that we need to find something to do thats fun but has a work out in it no one like paintball like me but its got me in great shape at 48 years old also do you have a i.g me and my wife dont have facebook to childish for us with the job we have
Thanks bro!! And yes I’m currently on a weight loss journey so I’m thinking about taking everyone along with me and encourage other drivers to take our health seriously! A lot of non bus drivers don’t understand how easy it is to gain weight in this profession! I will definitely deal with the health aspects in the near future! Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
@@BusDriverLife yeah bro i play pro paintball and it made me realize that we bus drivers can use all kind of weight loss remedies but we must workout along with it I hate the gym but I found paintball years ago and went pro ever since and I've lost a lot of weight because of all the running ducking diving it's crazy so I tell people if they don't like the gym find something they like to do that consists of tremendous exercise something they look forward to and the results will be great in the end
@@didithurtpaintball That’s great advice!!! I will keep that in mind! Gyms just opened back up in California so I’m back at it..but I’ll definitely find a fun activity that’s also a good workout to participate in!
