Excellent! Yes, that should be a great opportunity! Compliance is how I got going in e-learning. I was responsible for creating some of the mandatory safety classes for the hospital system I worked for. Not always the most fun topics to work with but I learned a lot.

Thanks for your video. As a teacher, action mapping sounds like background design to me. I’m looking into starting career as an instructional designer.

Very helpful content! I have a question, normally do you send a pre survey to your audience to know which learning method they prefer? Thank you!
@yourlearningcareer
@yourlearningcareer Год назад
It depends on the audience but, yes, there are times I have done this using a survey beforehand. I've also done this as part of an interview with people who are in my learner audience. Most of my projects are for a repeat audience so we already know their preferences and design/develop accordingly.

I need to know what competencies and skills of instructional design we have to follow as teachers. Two things skills and competencies I would emphasize if I would apply instructional design with my content I teach. so which direction Can I use ? the first one , a international standards as following (IBSTPI -ACET ATD) that show the skills and comptenses . Second , there are some researchers tend to get the skills from ADDLE Model , and the competences from their experiences . So my question is which direction I have to use ?.

Thank you. Do you have any advice for someone who is looking to switch careers from a teaching background? And do you have suggestions for how to conduct a thorough SME interview?
@yourlearningcareer
@yourlearningcareer 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! My general advice for anyone looking to get into ID is in these articles: www.yourlearningcareer.com/how-to-become-an-instructional-designer/ www.yourlearningcareer.com/9-pro-tips-for-how-to-get-experience-in-instructional-design/ For teachers specifically, I like to recommend this LinkedIn group (if you aren't already a member) www.linkedin.com/groups/12490007/ (Teaching: A Path to L&D) Also this one: www.linkedin.com/groups/12244701/ (Teaching to Training) I think a teaching background will have a lot of transferable skills. It will be a lot of learning the lingo and being able to demonstrate your ability to do what you did as a teacher in a different environment.

Just realized I forgot to answer your second question. My suggestion for SME interviews is 1. make sure you get the right SMEs and 2. plan out your questions and send them to the SMEs ahead of time so they have some time to think about their answers.
