Check out my new video about my experience participating in the 2024 NCAA Championships! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iqbK74GcY_U.html
Remember those days fondly, although I am 20 yrs removed now or so. People have no idea how hard it is to be a college athlete. I hate to admit it, but even graduating with a useful Bachelors degree, I have found most recruiters more interested in my college athletics background because of how well it trains young folks on discipline.
This seems like such a vibe. I just started playing tennis for my school a month ago and I'm in freshman year so it seems like a nice environment. The sport is very competitive but apparently I'm pretty good for a beginner so I hope I can make it to the big leagues.
Nice video! For me rather emotional given I’ve had many battles at the “UNF nest” on those very courts. Played my last college match there against UNF!All the best with your tennis and life after!
damn this shows the difference between d3 and d1 tennis. I got recruited at some d1 schools but chose to go to a top academics d3 school and at recruiting was a high 10 low 11 utr range. The training is so less intense for tennis, academics is at the d3 school is just depression i'm ngl
Very similar day for us, player at new mexico state d1 tennis. The only difference is that we have school in the morning and then athletic in the afternoon.
I really hope I can make it D1 one day. I just graduated a 7.5utr and have 2 more years until I might play at a university. Any tips would be super helpful! I play for nearly 5 hours a day except for Sunday but I just don’t feel like I have what it takes right now. The sport is so competitive but I love it.
You can do it. D1 has a very large spectrum from top of the line schools to the smaller D1 conferences like the one I played in (America East 20 yrs ago). Don't just practice *hitting* the ball, but also play as many practice sets/tiebreaks as you can. Nothing can replace match play and the stress it provides (stress is good). Also- become a student of the game, not just a practice player. What I mean by that is, don't just look good hitting the ball, but understand why you hit the shots you hit. Like in chess, play 2-3 shots ahead in every point. As you get really good at this, you'll see the game start coming to you a lot easier.
My daughter runs D1 for Creighton University. 2 to 3 times a week they run at 5 am. That means that she gets up at 4, as they have to have a mile in and their stretching done before practice begins. They generally also have weight training in the evening. It is a real school academically, and their mens and women's Cross Country teams had the highest cumulative GPA in the country. In D1, you must also work on your homework in the study lounge, under the supervision of professional tutor teachers, eight hours a week. At some schools the profs are told to let the athletes slide by, but at real universities, this isn't allowed.
In season we have two weekly one-hour S&C sessions. In the off-season, we have three one-hour S&C sessions. Our S&C coach provides us with exercises for four weeks, in which we increase and decrease weight and reps. The exercises cover the whole body (arms, legs, back, abs, etc.) I hope that helps you.
What racket are u using (I use a babolat pure aero rafa btw if u have any thoughts on it) ? Also do u have any tips for me as a intermediate junior that wants to play college tennis one day and is trying to get better?
In the video, I am using the Wilson Blade 18x20 V8. I have never hit more than 5 minutes with a Babolat racket, so I don't really have an opinion. However, as long as you feel comfortable, it is a great choice. The two most important things to improve your game, in my opinion, are consistency, and focusing on the process instead of being results-driven. Good luck!
Hey man im a student in highschool and although i dont plan on playing in college at all (tennis is more of a side fun thing for me) i stay very active and just wanted to know how you eat enough calories. Like is there any recipes you suggest or something because i try and eat very lean to keep a lean body but I struggle to get enough calories, is there anything you recommend?
dang bro. do you have any advice on how to improve the most before getting recruited. Im trying to become around an 11 by the start of my freshman year. How would you go about it?
Hey, I’d recommend you to establish a consistent schedule with tennis, weights, conditioning, and tournaments. Just give 💯 each practice and try to be better than the day before. And, believe that you can do it! Good luck 🍀
Thanks for the video. It seems like you hit your forehand a little bit late but what do I know! Maybe, its the modern forehand style and im from old school 😂
the way they hit the ball is totally different from 30 years ago...i like the form of the old player better,,,i guess that new way is cuz of the racquets
I’ve never tested the normal element. I think the rough version adds a little bit more spin to the ball but I could be wrong. You’re right, the Element series is great for the blade. 😊
I lowkey practiced with Korean Middle schoolers when I was playing national for my school. Korean middle schoolers hit as well as this guy at that young age
Starting your day with half a bagel and 200mg of caffeine is terrible. Should be consuming an absolutely massive breakfast. If ur a slave to caffeine have that an hour after the gigantic breakfast. Gonna look like a concentration camp survivor in about 8 months.
