watched this a couple weeks before beginning my training and didn't understand anything and being hella scared bc it looked and sounded so complex. rewatching this now as a pct and i understand everything and i love working as a dialysis pct so much!
@@magnumopus7199 I’m still in training and I can’t go over 36 hrs a week they say, but when I work it’s 6am- 4pm and one 6am- 1pm day, one day off during the week and no weekends yet.
There's a storm on the horizon. Folks said to hunker down and shelter. Shelter not did I. Look that storm in the eye and said "bring it bitch I am a warrior" I did. Keep that spirit my fellow warrior.
Thank you for a video well done. It certainly gave a good synopsis of what you actually doing as a PCT in the dialysis center. Have a great and blessed day!
Thanks mam for showing these work glimpse. I am going to give my final interview for becoming PCT hemodialysis. Thanks for sharing this video. So helpful 😊.
We PCTs should get a big raise, especially technicians that have been working for a long time. Been working with DaVita for 18yrs now and I only get $20.20/hr. I only get 25cents raise a yr, while newly hired technicians are getting $18 starting and get another $1 after they passed their ccht certification plus the annual raise.
Thats unchill. For that reason I went back to school for nursing. And I don't do anything extra. No water, no opening and no bleaching. I'm not going. To work harder than new folks and get paid the same amount as them. And I don't train because there's no incentive anymore.
Hello Mam, pleasant day! I would like to ask if possible can I apply dialysis technician while waiting for my turn in NCLEX examination. I'm currently working as Hemodialysis Nurse in Philippines thanks..
I just got certified in phlebotomy and i applied last night for pct/dialysis tech job and i got an email today for a phone screen. Im nervoussssssssssss but excited to learn. Im very hands on so i wanna do this.
This video was most helpful! Thank you for sharing. I’m doing a Dialysis technician course for free thanks to the favor of God 🙌🏼🔥 this helped give me some insight.
A job wants to pay me to go to school for this so im looking at podcasts to get a better understanding to prepare for the 2nd interview i am a cna of 15 yrs and i work 5 16 hour shifts as a cna atleast a week the new opportunity will be 3 shifts 14 15 hours and 2 weekends a month i cant go wrong. Thanks for the visual of what a day in this scope of practice looks like

I’ve been a pct on and off for years on a med Surg oncology floor but never dialysis tech . Do you have help that early in the morning or are you on your own.? Any tips on getting started ? With have pct experience do you think I can ask for 18.75-$20 an hr at least? I’m at $22.50 right now as pct.
Sometimes the titles concern me. I went to school for my RMA...also have my CNA but get paid as a LPN and compared to LPN they're equivalent to CNAS with med tech certificates, and only RNS are considered "true nurses" well atleast in Florida. I get paid 30$ as a CNA 14 as a RMA [ which i have an associates degree for my RMA] &ND 19$ as a Dialysis tech. Doesn't make sense to me. Buy guess it's just supply and demand for a JOB market. I get paid way more than the average cna because I was hired at a time they really needed people.
The company i work for didnt require dialysis school. They can help get your CCHT. However I did have a phlebotomy certification which i believe helped me getting hired. Its not hard, the work comes with time and lots of practice. I now work per diem as a dialysis tech and switched to being a cna at my local hospital which I’ve been loving. Dialysis becomes easier everyday on the job and it’s fun seeing the same patients because you end up building a relationship with them.

its very stressful... especially if there's not a lot of PCTs at the location. I quit my job before I was fully trained bc I felt way overworked and underpaid.
hello maam, is it possible to apply for this job in the US even if my bachelors degree is Physical therapy? im a filipino and im new here in the US, im wondering if i can apply to jobs like this while preparing for my PT process
Yes definitely. It will help you be comfortable with the patients here in America. Try mo mag work as a pct para may patient care experience ka dito. Pwede ka din mag try sa hospital as pct
Hi! I just got hired as a PCT at a dialysis center I’m nervous because the job description that was on the application is totally different from all of these videos I’m watching on RU-vid. As a PCT do you have to use needles on the patient ? Like IV or blood work? Or is it kind of like CNA work ?
@@yvettescott3769 me too! just got hired. now going through with training. i’m a certified phlebotomist but i’ve never dealt with a dialysis patient b4!
Hello Ate Rachelle just saw your vlog, ok lang magtanong if ano company mo dati as pct like sa Satellite or Davita? planning to apply din, but my concern is work schedule too whenever I get started and life of a student tho :)
Hi Rachelle, are you still working as a PCT? Do you plan on moving on to Nursing? I am trying to decide if I should train to become a PCT and the while working as a PCT continue with school to become an LPN or go to LPN school now and maybe continue to RN in the future.
Hi there! Yes i work as a pct in a hospital now and I am currently in school for my BSN. Definitely train to become a pct so you can get all the hands on experience while in school. It will help with gaining confidence. You even try part time or a PRN position for flexibility
I’m starting Monday at 15 here in Florida I don’t have experience I’m thinking that’s why it’s so low . Wish it was more it seem like a lot of work for such little pay 🤷🏽♀️

I’m wondering the same thing, just got hired with Davita and not sure if PCT and DT are interchangeable hahaha. PCT doesn’t seem like it’s fitting for this role. If I hear PCT I think of nurse assistant/CNA, this is very dialysis specific
@@aidynathome9927 I’ve been training at Davita for 6 weeks now and PCT and DT are the same. I thought they weren’t 😂. Dialysis Technician is called a PCT at Davita ☺️
@@kalihi8084 congratulations!! how are you liking it? 😍 I just got my workbooks and they dialysis technician all over them lol so that answered your original question 😂 I’m going to be in acute care in the hospital rather than chronic, which one are you?
I thought my body would never be the same again, but you fixed it. My heartiest gratitude to you Dr Igudia for helping me cure my Hepatitis B virus successfully.
Sorry- but boring. This video is mostly about your "own time'- by that I mean, driving, eating, (that took up most of the video.) Going to your locker, etc.. I know you can't film on the patient floor- but you barely mention that part - which I know is most of your day. You're not giving a good description of what people care about. People are watching this to learn what a WORK day is like for a dialysis tech. Not just the charting and lab collection stuff. Yeah I want chicken fingers for lunch too- but who cares? Not helpful, or informative. How do you prep your chairs and machines? How much time do you get with each patient? For example - are you expected to get your pt in the chair, cannulated and hooked up in 15 min? Do you think that's fair? How many pt's do you have at once? Usually it's 4 but I've heard 6. You don't have to name your employer, but do you think the pay is fair? These are just some questions I have, but I'm sure others want to know too. I was just looking for a video with some substance.
