I’m a dialysis patient. I have been sick with renal failure since birth. They found the disease when I was two. It was too late I lost both of my kidneys. I’ve had around 48 surgeries. Probably more, I stopped counting for my mental health. I’m training to become a technician. I want to help my kind. I know the pain. I know the emotional roller coaster. I know the cravings. I know the fistula feelings. I want to make life better some way for my kind. That’s what those clinics exist for. Making my kind happier. That’s my life’s goal making it easier for those in my shoes.
I’m 27. And I’m not asking god for anything. He’s the reason millions die. He’s the “creator” then why is he making kids die young and go without their whole lives and never getting a real full one because treatment and fatigue and side effects so often. I don’t mean to sound rude hun but god did this so I don’t really care for the fell. And before you say “he works in mysterious ways I’m going to find you and put you in the chairs next to me forever.. I’m not a fan of that character. But I’m a fan of people with real power to make a difference

@magnumopus7199 No problem! Glad we're all in the same mindset of trying to make an impact in the world. 🙏 I think no matter where we land we all make an impact in some ways. 😁 I hope salary cut is not a problem for you because if you've been in accounting for so long you probably have a good amount of pay. Because with being a Dialysis Tech you start lower depending what state you live. Just thought you should know. 👍 but if its not a problem then great!
@KRIZIAYANEZA You're absolutely right about that, very well said. Umm yeah, the pay was cool for sure, but since wifey is a nurse its not that much of a burden. Really looking for a new skill and the human connection you know. I will keep you posted as I move forward and thanks again, love your openness with your content 💪🏽 🙏🏽

Hi! I have a question! I’m going through training rn to become a tech and my teacher has told us you WILL get pricked by needles from other patients, it just happens. Throughout the entirety of your career has this happened to you?
The problem is a "dirty needle" that has been used on another person. If you are careful and follow the procedure you should not have that problem. When you draw up medications like heparin that needle is sterile (so no other person's germs). You throw that needle away because it got contaminated when it pricked you. But you are not at risk for a blood borne disease. Hope that helps.
I loved your video 😍 you are amazing. Will you please tell us how to get a job of dialysis tech. i am also a student of dialysis tech from India ♥️ lot is love

Is being EMT certified enough medical experience to be a Dialysis technician? Also, what time is the hands-on training? Is it at 4 a.m. too? Please answer. I'm getting interviewed next monday.
Having medical background is great! But theres a separate training to be a Dialysis Technician. Your facility will let you know with your training schedule. It might be different in every clinic. Goodluck on your interview!!👍
Chronic kidney disease here. I have been researching if/when this does happen to me. Really quite interesting and neat. There's resources on the Internet for those who are curious, or even watching this video. :)
Congratulations! This is a very inspiring video of you sis! I am currently on my 6th month and about to start processing withmy CCHT exam sis, may I know which agency from N.A.C.E.S did you get your diploma and transcript evaluated? Thank you sis and more power!

I just completed a nursing assistant program & one of my friends works for dialysis asked me if was interested in training to be a tech. How was the training process? Was it very hard ? I’m looking into if I want to go into it 🙂
I am considering this path too. I am a nursing student and a couple of my classmates are dialysis techs. I want something that will provide me with hands-on patient experience before I become an RN. My school does go to clinicals but I want an actual job where I can get involved and also something that has the potential to turn into an RN position once I graduate.
@@vincentchaeruka definitely but my second round of interview is remaining. Once done & if I got selected then I start my on job training first then able to work independently. Let's see🤗.
What is the starting salary? Do they pay above $20? I’m currently working as CNA and being paid $20/hr. I was thinking to switch career if this job pays more.
Mikkha, it depends on the state and area in the state. California pays more because of the cost of living. I googled the average salary and it is $25 per hour. But some states are more and some are less. Don't go into a career just for the money. Be sure it is something you enjoy. The hardest part for the dialysis technician is learning to be skilled at placing the needles in the dialysis access (usually in the arm). If you get good and that you will excell.
I apply at Davita for some reason I have been denied I'm a CNA/MA I work at a hospital as PCT I apply since the post said they train you for PCT and still got denied 😭
That happened to me with Fresenius! They specifically say on the website that you don’t need to have any healthcare experience at all and will train you. I’ve been a CNA for 3 years I got rejected :(
Keep trying i applied at Davita 2 months ago they said position filled its one closer to my house I applied Sunday and the next day they offered a interview which is today 🙏🏾

Good morning, I've been in healthcare for many years, started as a EMT, then worked phlebotomy for almost 15 years. Now I'm starting a Dialysis tech program this coming june. I'm older now and was wondering if someone can stay in a dialysis tech position and retire or is it usually a stepping stone to Rn, or something else? Thanks.🙂👍
If you can get into a hospital you should be good. I knew a lot of people that would rather stay at tech because the nurse pay was bad and it’s hard to transition into other types of nursing after being a dialysis nurse.
Hii! Im sorry just now seeing this! Yes you can definitely stay as a Dialysis Tech for as long as you want. But you can also step up if you want to. Normally the company reimburse your tuition if you're going to pursue being an RN or just anything in the medical field as long as the classes you take are relatable to the field. ☺
Hi. I am currently working as a CNA for 8 years now. and i'd like to shift a career like you dialysis tech.. Is it a dialysis tech is a good profession and in demand? and how may hours a day. Can you recommend me some best schools. I live in LA County..Thanks!
Hi!! Yessss! Absolutely! Dialysis tech is a great career and very in demand! I love how you can work and move anywhere when you work in Dialysis! Try to apply in Davita they're usually always hiring and they would train you. And its good that you've been in the medical field. Its a great advantage. 👍
You can work 3 straight , every clinic different most or either Mon, Wed and Fri. Or Tues, Thurs, and Sat. Some require open available these days. Ive been tech 23 years, PRECEPTOR 15 years.

The training is about 10 weeks long and it's digitally and hands on 3 times a week. It might be different in other places. And everyone works differently some might caught up faster than others and that's okay. 😊 Thank you!! 💜

There are patients that are hard stick, but not all of them! 🙂 Just like working in any medical careers there are pros and cons. It really depends on your situation. My pros and cons might be different from yours. But its long hours 12+ or less at times and ofcourse you will encounter difficult patients, we just gotta be professional and learn how to deal with them. You will work with an awesome team that will help you throughout the journey. Dialysis is not for everyone. But I feel like once you get the hang of it it's really not that bad! I love it!
