I am a psych major and thankfully it’s nothing like this for me. Just be a good student and you’ll be fine, choose a major you’re passionate about so that you enjoy what you’re learning.
@@chelseabhatia yes, I had to take a statistics course. I took ap stats in high school but didn’t do the exam for some reason and ended up taking it again in college. It’s honestly my favorite kind of math, it’s very different from other types. Even if you’re not a math person, statistics is an entirely different way of thinking about the world, it involves a lot of writing and interpreting results. I found that since it’s easily relatable to the real world I had an easier time with it than with other types that just feels like math for the sake of math.
@@chelseabhatia it’s a required class so you’ll need to pass it, but with a good professor I’m sure you’ll do great. I took psychological statistics and we just ran everything through excel, it wasn’t like ap stats in high school where they have you use a statistical calculator to solve everything.
@@Gapryongkim0Generaion soon, our career assessment is tomorrow and i plan to do the same profession, although i haven't realized it's been 2 years since this comment
My AP exam is coming up and all the terms were a great little review! I've got a lot of studying to do still, but I'm beyond happy I recognized and understood all the concepts you referenced! Thanks for making the content that you do. It's super educational, entertaining, and high quality. I love it so much. Thank you!
The pavlov one got me good, like everytime i feed my cat i always shake the container first and then all the cat get close to me, pavlov must be proud of me
@@supernova1259 I want to understand the human brain or how it works better, plus, I might learn stuff about my brain on the way. It's all about further understanding for me.
@@beanboi7952 wait that’s acctyally really smart, so like instead of wasting years learning some random physics bs you decided to further your knowledge on information you can use on yourself and implement on ur daily life? Am I getting that right or did I misread the situation
"psycho-analysing the cast of a series" called me out way too much. I've been studying social psychology for so long that I keep noticing psychological mechanisms in the storylines of movies. At some point, I realised most (kids) movies have a similar plot and now I automatically predict the plot of movies without meaning to
Watching this after learning general psychology makes so much more sense AND is more relatable than ever- I def did not die laughing after hearing the dog salivating, knowing what was coming
POV: this is literally your major Well technically, you're getting an associate's in business and a bachelor's in psychology Also you're going to get said bachelor's in psychology at the same time you finish highschool Also you're going to get the associates in business at 15 and you got your first college credit through CLEP at 12 Oh and also you passed Psychology CLEP at 13 Totally not me
@@kanakrandheer of course mate, my number one piece of advice would be, do your papers and exams first thing. You can have time to do everything else later but you need to prioritise your lessons first. #2 would be to look around campus before your first day, it’s the absolute worst thing when you try to find your classes so I’d have a little tour of the place first. #3, be prepared for your professors to be extremely chill or super strict. Once you figure that out, you’re pretty much set. At the end of the day mate, just make sure you’re doing something you enjoy, not what’s expected of you.
Really want my major to be psychology. Even though i'm still not in college, i've been interested in things like that. I just hope to know the pros and cons about psychology being your major
Tons of reading and studying history of psychology for undergrad work...gets more interesting at grad level studies....then specialized studies later on
If you wanted to study Psychology make sure you will study in Ivy league. And after free time. Go to library and read diverse books where you can apply to Psychology. Also read a lot of Statistics. Boom! You will be an influential and award-winning Psychologist in no time after 10-20 more years of putting your research to works and writing books about very scientific papers. Or even write a novel having a psychologist narrator where he narrates the development of the protagonist and how biases works, emotions and self-actualization etc. etc.
Sounds about right minus the dog, but we’ve got some stray cats in our yard who we make sure we feed. Criminal Justice major here, never took psychology in high school. Was awful at science but love love love history
I wake up with a sense of existential dread and general pointlessness looming around - 5 (self actualization) The first thing I face is a mirror reminding me of how insecure I am - 4 (esteem) I check my social media out of impulse but of course I have no friend and no notification - 3 (love and belonging) I lock the door to my bedroom and cry alone for an hour - 2 (safety need) I finally get out of my room and make breakfast - 1 (physiological need)
Psychology is an extremely wide, I am in my first year and we have 9 subjects. social, personality, history, developmental, researching methods, cognitive, media, biology and illneses.
I majored in paychology. This is basically every psychology class ever. Intro to class Lesson on Freud Lesson on research methods Test Some material related to the class, usually divided up into 4-6 units Some group project Some random paper that they ask you to do Final exam
You do know, though. Don't you? You are deliberately pushing away and ignoring what the truth holds. This isn't healthy. You should talk to a student majoring in psychology.
Hi there! Psychology student here! So we folks wake up normal, eat breakfast and then do some exercise in order to boost our cognition. Then on the way to college we observe things a lot (sometimes overanalyzing in the process!) and then go to college and start looking for people to help us with our experiments. The exam results come in and we are graded based on how well we would deal with a situation in real life instead of just writing definitions. Then we take the theoretical classes, go home and after getting a rest either analyze a character from a show and write a report on them or just do research on the emerging disorders. Then it's night time! Hope it helps!
Not to mention so many people go for psychology to figure out why they're so crazy or why everybody around them is so crazy. Which is the same thing because if you think everybody around you is a weirdo, you're the only weirdo there. Learnt that the hard way.
Hey, that's the thing about psychology. Whether it'd be body language, emotion indicators or even mind-altering conditions such as OCD and ADHD, its interesting to study and quite a challenge to properly understand. ...I also wouldn't try gaslightibg my professor tho :,D
