Came here because of a job posting I found. Why does almost every posting I find require 6+ years of retail and 3+ years of merchandising...to stock shelves? AND be proficient in like 8 different programs like I'm going to be running a group of droids for the grunt work?
Pro tip, what ever a job posting says for requirements don't pay much mind to it. Apply anyway, they don't genuinely expect to get those kind of people. They are just trying to put their best foot forward.
The world needs to get together and file a class-action lawsuit against the country's workforce oversight and regulations bc they're getting away with inhumane work conditions 😑
I was just hired on to crossmark and this makes me want to stick with my other employers. I do not like jobs that require you to complete a job in a set amount of time. In merchandising you run into a multitude of issues from bad management/communication to stockrooms being a complete disaster. I prefer resets or new store builds. At least I know that my time and effort is appreciated and respected!
45 minutes is crazy. It took me 3 hours to finish one of my stores. It wasn't a Walmart but I was by myself and not trained appropriately so it took me a while to do it. Then I got yelled at for taking to long. I was about to quit right there and then but he called back and apologized. I already am not really liking this job and especially the pay loss I took definitely wasn't worth it. I'd rather go back to production CNC machines. I made $5 more an hour and yes I had a supervisor who was a dick but idk what to do cause my friend got me the job and I'm not liking it. He was telling me you can move up fast but I talked to someone and they said they were merchandising for 2 1/2 years before moving up. I can go make $20 at a CNC shop easily cause I know how to run a machine and am not entry level anymore. I'm like a schedule 1 machinist or something.
tbh bro i totally feel you on this im a target general merchandise stocker and i got hired 4 days ago and today was my 4th day and only like my my official first day I was trained but my 2nd and 3rd day its like all of a sudden im a normal worker and not a newbie still, and my higher up told me pushing all these fucking carts should take 30--45 mins i also took 3 hours on my 3rd day but I tried to do better and luckily now it takes me around a hour but my higher up is still on me for it ive been searching around on youtube to see if theres a faster techinque to stock quicker but yeah its a fucking pain in the ass your first couple weeks most likely but by 1-2 months my sister and my trainer told me I'll get better in due time but yeah im just gonna keep trying but yeah bro cuz i dont wanna be having a big ego but i told my trainer theres no way im the slowest one here it must be my technique the way im stocking the way i do things so ive been trying to better it with the way Im stocking but yeah bro stay fucking strong@@manicmurph
Doing all this labor AND be outing!!!? Being outgoing is a whole other hi. If it’s own category. We’re not getting paid enough to be outgoing while merchandising
Professional VM here. 45 Minutes is incredibly unrealistic as an across the board per project expectation. There should be a range depending on the task.
Agreed. I quit my job last week because the boss wanted me to do 5hrs work in 3 hrs. I did work for 3 people. She knew I was going to leave and tried to keep me from leaving. I was afraid to add my time with her to my resume because I knew she would bad talk me to my next employer (she is petty). I did good work and all the other vendors knew that. The day I resigned, another vendor asked me to work for them. I start with them tomorrow and am determined to continue my same work ethics to the new job. I want to show up the old boss. Also got better pay and hrs so wish me luck!
Walmart doesn't allow vendors or employees to use shopping carts for stocking, company policy has changed, better update your video to show the merchandiser using a store L cart or rocket cart merchandise float, and good luck finding one that isn't in use or loaded down with merchandise.
All the training video's say "grab a shopping cart", you can't use shopping carts per store policy. And anyone who accepts a job like this has to be pretty desperate for a job....it is awful!!!
I worked for this company for about a year. You essentially take pictures of what people at the store have done because the company doesn't give you enough time to actually do the freaking work.
@@faithrobin6124 don't work for crossmark for less than $14 an hour I'll tell you that. They tried to hire me for 12 bucks an hour and I told them no. I worked for them for just under a year. They just need a warm body to show up and do the job like everywhere else. They give you more grace in the beginning because they know that you're new. I had experience the merchandising for another company say I use that for leverage. I work for Anderson merchandising now but that one is super fast pace, probably twice as fast as Andersen some days during busy season. Negotiate pay before you get hired because these merchandising companies may or may not be telling the truth when they tell you that they do raises. I worked for Advantage Solutions for 3 and 1/2 years and they only gave us a raise when they cut us in 32 hours a week down to 28 hours a week and took away our benefits and told us to sign up for ObamaCare if we wanted it. You gotta fight for your rights.
This is a role mostly focused on third party merchandisers. Get in and out as quickly as possible is priority number one. Rotation only applies to most food substances and is not indicative of any other products, ie electronic goods and non-perishable goods with very high shelf lives. Facing is very important in electronic goods as typically only one side of the packaging reflects brand, uses, and quality. My role as a merchandiser in a retail electronic goods store follows a more comprehensive guide to ensure customer satisfaction. Facing, laser lining, downstocking, replenishment from back stock, and if you're well versed in interactive displays: ensuring proper wiring, demonstration content installation, proper maintenance of displays, troubleshooting displays, contact with market-level teams to provide detailed instruction in troubleshooting non-functional displays, and the ability to order parts to replace broken parts of a non-functional display. What is discussed in this two minute and forty-five second video could get you a part time job restocking a grocery store. It's not indicative of a full time merchandising position at most box retail stores.
In Walmart it takes 10-15 just to get a pallet jack. For get getting an L- cart or U-boat. You will never find one since the employees there are either using them or have them stocked with merchandise. You can’t even find a damn ladder there. I use my soda shells to get tough to reach spots and the manager at Walmart gets mad telling me to use there little cart attached with steps. I’m like motherfucker you people NEVER have them available
Ask the who? You are fortunate when dept assistant managers work with you. I spent 8hrs at large Supermarket 1-2 * weekly and then I moved to Supermarket B for 2 days and C for 1-1.5.
If I have to come into a store and stack all these cans myself and not the people that work there I'm not gonna be too handshaking. I'll say HI but afterwards just leave me alone
I’m gonna end up having to do all of this alone yet, I have team co workers I’m not gonna be bringing in new products and organizing shit on my own. Not happenin’ putting tags up and products on the shelves is easiest for me.
I have been in the merchandising and there is no way if you want a perfect job that all of that can be done in 45 minutes. I am in good shape I am a active person have been my whole life. There is no way you can meet someone and chat, go pickup merchandise and go back, set product all over the store go back to pickup area and leave out of date product and garbage. Not possible, unless you do a half way job. I would say at least, hour and half no less, maybe 2. What is the pay? Do you furnish gas reimbursement, and wear and up keep on vehicle, uniform and good walking shoes?
I was offered a job as a retail merchandiser, the starting pay was quoted at 15 dollars, gas reimbursement but requires a valid drivers license and proof of ins. in the state of Wisconsin. So I would say it's pretty fair depending on your vehicles age and the amount you would drive
depends on the company. like Kyle said, redbull does a bunch of stores. beer companies usually do about the same amount of stores. companies like pepsi, coke, dr. pepper do anywhere from 3-6 stores.
I was offered a position today w/crossmark for this exact position. I have not filled out thehiring forms just yet because I' am still not understanding what this position entails.
X PrincessJordyn hi ma'am are you still looking for merchandiser, I'm 2yrs merchandiser to Alaska company., I'm looking job to USA I need bigger sallary for may family..if you still need merchandiser call me 09067230783,, thank you God bless you..
Hang on, working as a Retail Merchandiser could afford her to buy a car like that? How much do they earn? 🤔 I'm seriously curious as I did received job offers for Merchandiser role.
Thanks for all the info people. Already started working as one. It seems rather challenging, we gotta try to constantly convince the outlet staffs to order in more of our brand products for our sales and all.
Crossmark pay is crap you can find other companies that pay $15/hr and average store is 3hrs & mileage. Crossmark will have you driving all over the place. 45 min huh can’t even work a full hour!
I was out of the country just got back and see the offering but I need an application or something to start on please let me know how I'll do it, yes I'm interested I did stoke before for a coffee company and I work with Crossmark before.I'll be waiting for a response for Las Cruces NM area thanks.
....... basically, you put all this wear on tear on your vehicle to go work for 45 minutes while taking all this BS from receiving personnel and store management. ...... not worth the effort.
Twice a week I drove over 1.5 hours one way to my store. Work a 7-8 hour day, then drive another 1.5 hours home. Some days I worked 10-11 hour days, and Acosta doesn't care, they want a warm body
Most Walmarts never allow you to use their shopping carts. And filling 10-15 coolers and rotating and cleaning coolers and paperwork too? 45 minutes? SMH, I have an interview with them tomorrow. We'll see.
I requested to meet with the Gen Mills vendor I would be working hand and glove with. Screener said no dice, it was a safety issue. Was offered the job on a tuesday, called back and said that I still had questions, but received the new hire pprwork. Called on Thursday to speak with my new DM...no answer. Got a testy email friday that they hadn't received the filled out paperwork. Still no reply. Got an email the following Monday that my paperwork was still missing, then got an email Tuesday saying they had found a candidate who was a better fit. I found that all very strange. And for the last 6 weeks get various phone calls for positions I never applied for, twice in the last 4 days from the same person (lol, I actually talked to this guy and said that convienence store sales was not in my skills set).
Yah you have to be careful nowadays were you apply. You can lookup the salaries and job descriptions online with websites like glassdoor and indeed. If you google nestle merchandiser salary you get an idea of the pay and job. For the most part its going to be a dead end job unless you move up in the company
Fuck merchandising is the worst job I've ever done in my life just quit only doing 4 hours of it. I've even done hard laboring jobs that were 10 times better than this.
i agree. Its not how they make it look on youtube and on those training videos. Its by far the most fucked up job there is. You get treated like crap. Managers complain for the most dumbest thing ever. Its a mess in their backrooms making it impossible to work safely and effecently.
AGREED 100% I stuck it for 6 and a half years more because of the flexibility, but most are rude to Vendors which is sad. I just go in and get on with it.
Coca-cola in my area pays $17 with 50cent raises a year plus 55cents per mile to basically do the same thing. Theres alot more products of course but a lot less stores.
Can someone adopt me to go there and have a job like this..im from Philippines and 21 yrs old.. I hope i can work as a diser..im very competent and want to work there
@@puppiesrlife Well, you might not be fired right away, but if you keep taking too long your boss might talk to you about it, and if you still keep taking too long, then yeah, you might be fired.
@@GingerGilligan If it's realistic and reasonable to get it all done in 45 mins then sure but from the comments on this video it doesn't sound it, and also sounds like the pay doesn't match going out of the way to get there, do a job for less than an hour, while being under constant stress to get it done by that time. Not in today's world where people are desperate for workers. If they said they were firing me for that I'd laugh and say go ahead 😂
@@GingerGilligan You clearly have not been in the know of what has been going on for the last two years and especially the last year if you can ask that. It's an employee's market right now and they have the ball on their court. People are tired of low wages and dictatorship corporate heads so there's an uprising. They are leaving in droves for better work opportunities hence why there is a massive shortage of workers, especially in historically low wage jobs. If these retail people are going to fire someone for going over 45 mins with their low wages and unrealistic time constraints then yes it's laughable they'd fire someone as they'd turn around and realize no one else is left because no one wants to or has to work for that bullshit anymore. No one would use them as a reference anyway so it doesn't matter if they fire. Literally no impact as there's so many more opportunities out there. The company would just be shooting itself in the foot. Just telling it like it is.
I don’t mind merchandising but in my area they pay like a dollar more than minimum wage. Y’all are asking for too much for such a low hourly pay. With that pay I’ll give the bare minimum, & no I won’t be “outgoing”😂 I won’t make enough to eat so I won’t have the energy to. I was interested in the job but they didn’t mention the pay until the interview. Hard pass, because I know other merchandisers that pay more.
complete in 45 minutes. I don't think so. You guys are out of your minds. And why would I spend so much money on gas, wear and tear of my car, plus mileage to drive to numerous stores for only 45 minutes. Insane. Its a wonder anyone works for you.
All the training video's say "grab a shopping cart", you can't use shopping carts per store policy. And anyone who accepts a job like this has to be pretty desperate for a job....it is awful!!!
