As a self employed electrician I’ve had clients do this as well, asoon as I get the slighest hint that the client values only the price and not the quality/safety I walk away straight away. No point in wasting both of our time. Great vid!

Yes exactly to the point, DON'T UNDERSELL YOURSELF, you are a skilled craftsman. We need more people like you doing a proper mans job. You see they calling you back because not every carpenter is upto the challenge. Im a diy enthusiast and i love woodworking, i know it takes allot of measuring, cutting, applying, very time consuming. Grafting is no joke. Quality speaks for itself and you certainly have displayed that on camera. Love your content man im learning each day. Wish you success with your channel. You got game brother!

Yeah, my pricing is on the high side but the price is the price. The client isn't just paying for the job, there paying for years of experience, customer service, professionalism

Quoting is painful. But with the material price raises and prices being all over the place makes it even harder. As you have to keep getting bloody material prices on a regular basis. I used to supply and fit suspended ceilings for £20 to £30 per m2. I got a price from the supplier the other day and I can barely buy the gear for that price now

0:16 my boss has a company with 2 of us + him and we work for this furniture store that charges people for assemlby (we don't have to quote people) and basically whenever they cancel a job without 2 day notice we get paid 50% of the montage fee and the customer has to pay 50% again for us to do the job next time so stuff like this wouldn't happen =)

I have been self employed for 28 years and have learned........ Never negotiate your prices. The customer will say my budget is 2k, just tell them thats not unrealistic and they will get someone for that, as long as they are not too bothered how it looks. Watch them look at you as their brain spins. Build up a website of your jobs with galleries, then people with deal with you because they want to not just because you are cheap. It's all about confidence 😊 Always remember people have no idea about what things cost so it's not personal getting a couple of prices

I think your prices are lower end of the pricing variety. Genuinely I don't understand people wanting to save money and choosing the cheapest quote as most likely always ending up badly and when they call me to fix it I just go there to see what's been screwed up and always getting it right after cowboy builders cost customer much more in the end

You charge a fortune for doors back mould and skirting, imo the price is to high, but I’d of put a another £200 on top for the newel post handrail and spindles 👍

In the states I would charge min 5 thousand w/ o materials ! You’re a skilled carpenter charge a living wage! What about you? Savings? Retirement ? Get hurt? ( I shattered my foot in 6 places when the scaffolding collapsed ? Customer un did a safety latch thinking he was helping me!) knocked off a ladder holding a 20’ 2x10 when I was reframing a garage for sheet rock to 24” on center truss’ ). So you’re gonna get hurt! Charge the right amount & add 20% on top of that ! If they say no good! U should hit about 50% of your bids! Let the handy man take it for 2500 and screw it up!

all these lads talking about not 'underselling' yourself don't have a clue about business or sales. Customer EXPECTS quality and craftsmanship, it's already a given, that's why they're paying you. It's your job to be fast and efficient enough to provide it at a competitive price.

Worst part of the job for me quoting for jobs,driving about wasting your day, evening looking at jobs to go home working out materials,labour,for quotes that customers usually turn down and say are to expensive and then the emails,phone calls,pain in the arse but at same time would not want to win all jobs as your then usually working for buttons,hard old slog being a self employed tradesman
