Hi Danica, I wanted to say thanks for these videos. They help me learn a lot. Specifically with the dexcom. I didn't get type 1 until my mid 20's which was about 7 or 8 years ago as I'm 32 now. Mine was medicine induced. I got the pump after ending up in the hospital for DKA, and my medical care is through the VA, so because I went into DKA I could finally get the pump. Just recently they upgraded me from the Ping to the Vibe and I just started using the dexcom. I literally replaced it for the first time tonight. I saw this particular video and I liked it, because when I was an Army recruiter I was up near Scranton and I still live in PA today, so I liked this video. Thanks again for all the videos.
I was diagnosed in March and I can't explain how much your videos have helped me! I'm in highschool so dealing with diabetes in class has been interesting. Please keep making a day in the life videos! I love these!
***** Hey Danica! I was diagnosed with Type 1 in February (age 15), and it was a complete life-changer for me. It sucked, but you learn to adjust. I never even knew what Diabetes was, and now my life revolves around it. I came across your videos and it COMPLETELY changed my attitude. I absolutely LOVE your videos and what you are doing. I have watched every one of your videos and they always put me in a good mood. Thank you for what you do. Hopefully I can meet you one day! I'm getting the OmniPod soon, and I was wondering if you would consider making an updated in depth pump video comparing all of them, pros and cons of each, how long it takes to get them...etc. Thank you!
Hey Danica, I enjoyed this video especially because I run into these same exact issues when driving. Lol I always wonder if I would get pulled over or fined for bolusing or checking while driving... That would totally be excusable right😅?
IT IS SO GOOD THAT YOU PUT THE mmol/L!!! I have only just started watching you and its so entertaining!!I love how you video everything diabetic wise! #newsubscriber
In Queensland Australia: You can be fined $353 and have 3 demerit points recorded against your traffic history if your mobile phone is in your hand and being used for any reason while you are driving-including when you’re stopped at traffic lights or in congested traffic. From 1 September 2015, double demerit points will apply for second or subsequent mobile phone offences committed within 1 year after an earlier offence.
I think you're right, I also have that dawn phenomenon thing happening. I'll check my sugar and be 104 then check again and I'm like 128. I don't understand how this disease works sometimes!
I love your vlogs !! I'm type 2 but my numbers have been amazing 🎉 my only issue is when I workout I crash most of the time. I have a wonderful husband who keeps stuff in his pocket just in case😍
Aurora Have you ever wandered what being forgotton is like. 💔💔💔💔💔💔 It broke my heart to know there are people that are not being treated for things like Type 1 Diabetes. 💔💔💔💔💔💔
This video lets me know that everyone's diabetes is different.i will never again complain about a 185 BG Mine usually behaves while I drive long trips, but can get ideas when I don't keep it on a short leash. I do set a temp basal of 70% to try and compensate which keeps from crashing and stopping for noms is a definite must for me. When I do go high it dings 150 on my Dex but then i quickly have my wife do a correction bolus for me so I can focus on the road. I can't multi task at all.
Also very classic :D First one: the reason I keep this noodle type in my pantry bc DD makes me want to east that EVERY time I watch this :D And this one makes me always want to go to McDonalds :D
I noticed you calibrate a lot (much more than the 2x per day recommended by Dexcom), which I've always read can mess up the algorithm. You also calibrate on up and down arrows, which is also supposed to be a no-no. Why?
Hi what's your insulin to carb ratio? I just made a change from U500 back to Novolog and I was doing 1:12 but in faster terms that's 5:12 so just thought your numbers are pretty good so I'd ask thanks
hey there Danica its me Sam from snapchat Wow I'm a big fan of the office too I love that show even though it's no longer in in season I like to just go back and watch the episodes over and over I watch them on Netflix I would like to have the entire DVD collection I give you a shoutout on snapchat I don't know if its still on there but I said that I was really proud of your video when diabetes gets difficult I had said that you are a very inspirational person and I really like that about you
***** I really admire you! I have been dealing with diabetes since I was 14 and I am disabled because of it. I can't get an insulin pump because I have a severe latex allergy so I have to do everything through shots. I don't mind it though. :-)
My daughter got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was one. Now she's 4 years old. I've been doing the shots since then. Her blood sugars are never perfect in fact there all over the place, so just last week I called her endocrinologist to get her put on an insulin pump. They recommended the mini med pump. What are your thoughts on that pump and is it worth putting her on this pump? It's been really stressful dealing with her diabetes being that I'm the only one dealing with her diabetes.
pequenaffm I wish her mother would get it together and be a part of her daughter's diabetes, but I've been managing it for a little over a year now. I was so devastated by this that I had a hard time accepting it almost like it was the end of the world. I got educated really quick on diabetes and eventually took over managing it myself because my ex-wife who in fact has type 1 wasn't doing a very good job at it. My daughters finally old enough to know better not to pull at the tubes and stuff. So this pump I hope will make things a little easier for me. Regardless I'll do anything for her even if that means giving her shots until she's old enough to do it on her own.
I got diabetes when i was 8 now i am 11 i have one touch ping and it helps me control my blood sugar but im still a kid and when your a kid u can't control u sugar cuz u are still growing up but i am lucky that i have a pump
Hi Danica I have a question for you. I am 14 years old and I think I may have type 1 but I am not sure. I know what your going to say but I figured I'd ask so here goes. For the past couple months I have been really thirsty and have to go to the bathroom a lot. I probably drink any were from 10 to 15 bottles of water a day (20 oz) and I have to go to the bathroom like 30 minutes to a hour later and I usually get up in the middle of the night once or twice to go to the bathroom. I am usually more thirsty at night but sometimes the thirst will completely go away for like two hours. I've looked up the symptoms before and it keeps coming up with type 1 diabetes. I told my mom a while ago that I have been really thirsty lately and she just put it off as the house being dry. I am really worried. I found your channel when I was researching type 1 and it has been very helpful. How do I get my mom to take me seriously. I really want to find out if I have diabetes I'm starting to get nervous. I also have many of the other symptoms like my cuts they heal super slow. It used to take about a week and now it takes about a month and they leave scars. I feel tired a lot no matter how early I go to bed. And I'm constantly hungry. I am a vegetarian and know matter how much protein I consume I am still hungry. I often go to bed with my stomach growling. In addition the that I will get randomly nausea and my vision will sometimes blur out for about 5 minutes. What also consurnes me is that being a vegetarian I consume more fruit and a lot of the fruits I like have a high water content so I really shouldn't be drinking this much water because I don't eat that many dry foods. I am scared that something is going to happen to me. Please tell me that I'm being a hypochondriac if not please tell me how to get my moms attention and take me seriously. I am 14 year old girl. I know your not a doctor but you seem to know a lot. You are my last resort I am desperate I am so sick of this thirst and bathrooms. I can't go a two hour car ride without having to go to the bathroom and meals without three bottles of water. Thanks I understand if you can't help or don't want to.

The only way to be sure is to get a blood test from your doctor. Even if it's not Diabetes, it would be good to make sure it's not anything else. Only you can be an expert on your body so if you notice these changes you have to make it a point to see your Doctor. You can even ask your school nurse if they can help you.
I'm homeschooled so I don't have any one else to talk to they have noticed that I have been drinking a lot more. They actually make fun of me for it and make jokes about me that I'm a camel but they don't really see it as a big concern or make a big deal about it.
Oh wow, that happened to me too. But a also lots a lot of weight and the last straw is that I went into diabetic coma... That when I was rushed to the hospital. If you feel something is wrong you should convince them to take you to the doctor
I went to the doctor a couple of months ago and I am supposed to get blood work done at the hospital. (I ate the morning we went to the doctor) but it's not like a appointment thing you can just walk in and get it done if you have a doctor order thing but it's not an appointment so my mom just keeps pushing it to the back of here mind and every time I mention it she just says " Ya we should probably do that eventually" I'm only 14 so I can't drive and I can't go by my self. they won't listen to anything I say.
80 g at once? Omg, I would die:) I am type 2 and here in Hungary we are said to never eat more than 50 at once, and dont eat that much ever. and I did not eat Mcdonalds since diagnosed. I managed to normalize my blood sugar in 2 years so now I dont even take meds, ofc I still have own insulin production so I could say I am lucky with that. But I know this is progressive so...
