In my last video, I asked you guys to ask my boyfriend, Cody, some questions about my Type 1 diabetes! Cody does not have diabetes, and these questions are directed towards him and his experience dating someone with T1D! Enjoy! :)

I don’t think anybody can ever be tired of being called a “Hero”. That’s nice that your boyfriend thinks that of you. Danica, I’ve been watching you for 5 years and learned a wealth of information. You guys are great together! 💙💙💙💙💙💙

What a great guy. As a dad of a type one I hope my daughter meets someone like this guy someday! Danica you are awesome, been watching you for years and what you do is so important and real. It’s great to see people balance taking care of diabetes and keeping perspective on life.

Thanks for the good video, refreshing. I have been a Type 1 diabetic for 50 years, I work at keeping my sugars under control and I'm pretty good with it. average a1c 6 so I'm happy with that and my doctors are as well. Biggest help to me is my support system which is my wife. She monitors my diet and portion controls what and when I eat. I owe her big time! I give her a lot of credit as when we learn new ideas and technology she is into it as much as me. Team Effort!

Thanks for this. I can’t count the number of dates I’ve been on that ended when T1 came up. It’s nice to see an example of someone taking it in stride and not define you by it. You two look very happy together 💕

This has been interesting to watch because my type 1 friend tells me all the things her husband has had to learn since they started dating. Also, I was going to say that he is very comfortable in front of the camera, but that was explained.

Great video, many people don’t understand all the things a diabetic have to go through. I will be honest and tell you I never really took care of myself when it started 31 years ago(I was 12) and because of that I have had life changing issues(BK amputee on my right leg and Trymet amputation on my left foot) and bc of those things I have moved passed and used my experience to help others. It is a full time job and no one is perfect at it so Cody thumps up too you bud

Cody! While you're probably right, just being a Canadian has a high chance of being a hockey fan, Canuck really doesn't have anything to do with the hockey team when used in general. Canuck is just slang for a Canadian. As an example one might say "Oh he's just apologizing all the time 'cause he's a Canuck, pay no mind to him". I thought you might like to learn :)

As a woman with a disability, it's nice to be reminded that there are guys like him out there. Logically, I know that, but I'm really starting to think a relationship just isn't in the cards for me.

A good relationship will come your way. I was 40 years old when I met my wife in 1995 and neither one of us were looking for a relationship. I was an over-the-road driver and she was in the driving school at my home terminal in Austell, GA. I had just came back to work and was waiting on a load when I went out to the backing range to see what kind of students they had. I always did that when I was there in the daytime. We got to talking and I found out she was from my home town. I ask her out and we've been together since. She found out she had some health issues and couldn't get her license and I asked her to ride with me for a while so she could get her head together. We both have health issues now and I've also had a heart attack and bypass surgery besides being diagnosed as a Type 2. I was medically retired in 2018. She was medically retired in the late 1990's. Don't worry too much but you'll find that special one for you.

He seems very into you and doesn’t want to say something bad that would upset you and you grin so much xD it’s so 🤣🤣🤣 it looks like he wants to say something like: I thought type 1 was the „bad type“ and then thinks: no I shouldn’t say that that’s what uneducated people say… 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Type 1 diabetics are heroes. My son got it at 15. We learnt so much about it. Only if you have it or know someone who has it you’ll know how hard it is. I hope viacyte will finally finish research of beta cell implant soon. They should talk more about diabetes and other diseases like this at school. We’ll have more minds trying to find solutions.

Great video I like the fact that your boyfriend seems to leave the care of your diabetes to your. But he will be there with juice or water if needed LOL. My husband was the same way, there if I needed him but he did not overwhelm me with questions.
