it's surprising how often I'm not doing the things I expected to do. I think maybe 5 times over the last year I've wrapped a bleed or bone. The majority of your calls are people having anxiety attacks. Or old people who need help getting back on their feet. @@Bb-jh9fo
Fixing to start EMT classes next month and am super nervous, but in a good way. I've always been interested in a career in the medical field but had to put it on hold for starting a family young. Wish me luck!
@turok6969 Yes! I took the class and became certified in December and have been working as an EMT since January and am LOVING IT! Life is good! Thank you for checking in.
This was awesome! keep the vids comin! im gonna be starting a EMS Academy within the next 6 Months i hope and actually found this video reassuring and even helpful!
In the application process right now, waiting on a background check this saturday. Hope it works out trying to balence high school and EMT school at the same time if things work out. I look forward to the opportunity ahead!
As a RU-vidr and medic myself I looked at your view count. Definitely use what god gave you and edge your way into your bread and butter content! Good video!!!
Hello, Australian paramedic here; could you do a video on the equipment and drugs in your ambulance? As an EMT do you work with a paramedic? I miss the 14 hr. nightshifts we did without turning a wheel. Nowadays it's 12-hour shifts, there's a job waiting for you when you start, and work all through the night doing about 8-10 jobs. An FOT is extremely rare too!
@@Alexia.Mishock Can I ask what a paramedic does where you work that an EMT can't do? It's a little different in Australia; to be allowed to work on an emergency ambulance you have to be a Registered Paramedic, and it's technically illegal for somebody who's not to perform such work. Similar to nursing, where you do 3 years at university and a year as an intern to become a registered Paramedic.
@@coover65 yeah so paramedics can do IV’s, give meds, monitor EKGs, intubation, all the advanced life support skills. EMT’s only can do basic life support skills such as CPR, taking vital signs, or administering aspirin, glucose, oxygen. Hope that helps!
I’m starting my online classes July 1st got a long way to go but I’m ready for this I did work in county jail and I just decided it wasn’t the life for me new chapter now 😄
Thanks! We do have a kitchen, fitness area, washer and drier, and sleeping quarters. Assuming you are a first responder, i wonder what your station is like?
@Alexia Mishock I'm actually not a first responder yet. I'm someone who has great interest in becoming one with the next year or so. I just stumbled upon your video and find it fascinating that EMT have an option of working somewhere like that, never occurred to me tbh
Very cool! Yeah the majority of stations I’ve been to have at least a kitchen. We usually work 12-hour shifts so it’s very nice to have a place to heat up food or use the fridge. Also when working night shift it’s nice to have beds (although the one station I work at only has couches).
Hey! Take some basic anatomy courses or medical terminology courses! I do not recommend going to college to be an EMT unless it’s needed! If you want to be a paramedic though I think you would need an associates degree in most places!
Olá! Tudo bem? Quanto tempo você trabalha nesse serviço de ambulância? Há muitas ocorrências graves na cidade onde você trabalha? Assim que possível compartilha um pouco mais essa realidade que você vive. Parabéns pelo trabalho. Deus te abençoe menina.🙏🚑👩🏼⚕️ Saudações aqui do Brasil🇧🇷🚑👨🏻⚕️
Hello! I hope you can translate this! I’ve been an EMT for almost 2 years. There are many emergencies we get called for but not many extremely serious calls! I have heard of some and been on some but they don’t happen everyday! A lot of the extremely serious calls don’t even appear on the news either! Let me know if you want to know anything else! Very cool you’re from Brazil and thanks for the comment! 😊
@@Alexia.Mishock Ah yes, I managed to translate with the help of google translator and I'm trying to express myself better with you through it too 😅. That Cool ! You've been a paramedic for 2 years! How do you feel working in this service? Do you like? Here in Brazil I have been working in the emergency service for 12 years in Ambulance and Pediatric Emergency Room. I am happy to know you a little, despite the distance, I promise to be a good friend so that we can share some experiences. God bless you, Until next time. Congratulations on the job. ☺️🚑👩🏼⚕️
@@Alexia. Deus te abençoe, Até a próxima. Parabéns pelo trabalho. ☺️🚑👩🏼⚕️
I’ve been an EMT for about 2 years and I really like working in this service! Wow 12 years on the ambulance is crazy! Working in a pediatric emergency room must be very cool too! Thanks for sharing, it’s very cool to know I have some viewers from Brazil! 😀
@@Alexia.Mishock Glad you like this job! The cool thing is that in addition to helping people, we also become better people for God and our country and with many stories to tell our children in the future. Success in your work. God bless you. Maybe one day we can share some stories.
I just graduated high school and going to school to be a EMT I’ve always wanted to do medical is it stressful during the school part of becoming an emt
Are you allowed to wear Kevlar under your uniform at your department? I’m getting into the EMT then firefighter space here in LA and was told they get shot at sometimes
Thanks! I’m not too sure! I think if you can pass the NEMT-P exam you don’t have to retake the class but I’d have to look more into it to know for sure! Thanks for the comment though, loved hearing from you!
I would say just do a whole bunch of practice problems! I got an NREMT study book online which helped me so I would definitely recommend doing that! It’s a tough test but you’ll do good if you prepare. Good luck! 😊
Thanks! I think my class was around that length too! I would just say be ready to put in some work and study hard, but once you’re done it’s so rewarding to be able to make an impact on people’s lives the way first responders do! Good luck with your class!
Haha I know what you mean! The one station I work at gets little to no calls (as you saw) and the other one probably gets about 10-15 calls per shift too! I’m going to do a day in the life at that station at some point!
It's so disturbing that even AFTER the pandemic American health workers wear their workwear in their car and at home. It's like "nothing learned." In Germany that's forbidden by law!😅
Think you're scary or whuhhhh think you're scary or whuhhhh.... just kidding my mother is a nurse ready to retire and I'd dead 3 times over if she didn't do her nursing stuff with us kids
