Hi Tyanna! Thank you so much for this video and for sharing the stuff that you do as a sustainability analyst!! I'm a fourth-year undergrad and really interested in a sustainability-related position. And after watching this video, I feel like the things/tasks you mentioned are actually what I enjoy doing. Do you mind sharing what are some tips/suggestions/advice for someone like me who is really interested in a sustainability profession? Also, what skills are most valuable for a sustainability analyst in your opinion? And, what do you most enjoy about this job? :) Thank you very much again!!!

I am wondering if you would be able to give me an idea of which concentration I should choose that would best fit a sustainability analyst! Thanks so much

Hi Kelsey, can you tell me more about the different concentrations that are offered to you? It varies from school-to-school. I would think that focusing on data-related OR strategy-related concentrations would be best in this field.

@mafelemus04 2 года назад
Hi, would u mind sharing why u switched majors? Im currently deciding between wildlife biology and sustainability management!
@anubis8068
@anubis8068 2 года назад
@@mafelemus04 sure! I switched because I know many people in the wildlife field, and you can't skate by with just a degree alone. It's highly competitive and almost completely dependant on skills and networking. Plus, my first and second semester was teeming with math classes (statistics, calculus, etc) and as much as I try, I SUCK at math. Sustainability Management however has a very healthy job outlook with many different companies you can work for. From the fashion industry to food, they all need a professional to step in and help with their sustainability efforts. I also tell myself that I'd be helping the earth by targeting/helping arguably the biggest polluters on the planet - companies! The only math I need is statistics and algebra, and it more dependant on communication skills and planning rather than heavy math and sciences. Hope this helps. If you have any questions lmk.
@anubis8068
@anubis8068 2 года назад
Also, the lifestyle wildlife Biology comes with isn't for me. I'd have to move to where the jobs are which is unsustainable for my life goals (having a home, raising a family, etc). I've even heard of some people PAYING to have a job in wildfire biology so they can have credit in the study which helps boost their resume. It's really not for me.

Hi Tyanna! Thank you for sharing your experience, it's really helpful. I have Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, at that point I didn't know anything about environmental/ sustainable careers. Now I want to switch to this green field but can't understand where to start. Is it possible to get an internship/fellowship without any education in Environmental science? Or maybe do you know any online courses/ certifications that can help to get started? Of course, I also consider getting a Master's but from now on it takes around 3 more years, and I want to contribute as soon as possible.
@TyannaBui
@TyannaBui 10 месяцев назад
Hi there, yes it's definitely more beneficial if you have some knowledge of environmental science to get your foot in the door. There are some roles out there, though, that are less technical and can have sustainability be a part of their focus (e.g., project management, communications, policy, etc.). I'd recommend that you research more on what you want to do in sustainability and work backward from their on your knowledge gap. Good luck!

Hi there, I chose consulting at the time honestly because graduating at the start of the pandemic left me with little opportunities to choose from and my graduate school projects involved consulting with several companies.
