Thanks for the info. I thought tech jobs with sonar and stuff would be easier, but I guess you have to be ready to meet the needs of the ship at a moments notice.
Heyy Im not sure if you’ll read this but I leave to meps in two weeks and I was going for PS but all admin jobs were full so I ended up going with my other choice, STG. Im not sure if you could give a little more intel into what to expect you know. I’m also trying to get stationed in Japan so how would that work
STG is a good choice. Most of the job is secret so I can’t say much, but one cool thing about STG is you can venture to do other things outside of your rate (get security qualified, fire fighting, ect). In port the workdays are chill mainly maintenance and training so out to sea is where we really shine and get to do the cool sonar stuff. Out to sea you’ll have a watch rotation along with the training and maintenance. One thing that does suck out to sea is getting use to the sleep schedule and having to do stuff on your off time due to ship schedule but not too bad. There’s a few shore options also but I only did sea duty.
Not sure you’ll see this but if you do please respond. Does this rate require a lot of math? I scored really high on the PiCat, not really because I knew so much ( knew enough but not what they think lol ) my studying habits are just really great. Before the test I just did LOTS of studying & googling about the Asvab. So I ended up getting this rate, math worries me tho. So does this consist of a lot of math or should I be good?
I would say we do a fair amount of math at and STG but it's not super hard math and the formulas are given. Its like entry level geometry and maybe a little calc but that's usually as you go up in the ranks
