Love the progress. The map looks amazing, the skins on these guys are indeed awesome. They blend in with that environment so well! Nearly disappearing in the shade of those trees. I would like to give a little constructive criticism on the animations, namely just two things. First, the hips seem far too stiff, especially on the baby animation. The legs just rotate in place like a plastic doll. The hips need to drop and rise with the swing of the leg. The second thing is the tongue. I surely hope in the finished model it isn't going to be just left hanging out constantly. I absolutely love all the effort and hard work that is shown in this video. The progress on this game is leaping forward by the day. Don't listen to any of the nay sayers. Keep up the good work! The amount of progress is truly amazing. Less than a year from fully funded and DOD is moving forward in leaps and bounds. And personally, I like how you are keeping things close to the chest and leaving us with some surprises, yet still showing undeniable progress. I can't wait for genesis!

Amazing progress so far devs! Lots of complaints about not showing what y’all are working on, then when you do, they complain about it not being finished yet. Just can’t win either way. Keep it up! Thanks for not being discouraged! Rooting for you and looking forward to more progress videos

ok several suggestions 1: make a dev-test space. your enviorments are nice but having a blank open space to properly show the animations would be nice,in addition you can do a proper line up of the other models that you can walk along showing the differences in age,size,and markings. in this dev-test space you can even include a basic obstacle course to show more animations such as jumping, swimming flying, and special moves, even hunting if you get special motions for these. you can always add more to this test room as more things come along but keep it simple. its ment to show off your model more than anything 2: the walk animation is nice but i think the front legs could have a bit more 'weight' to them. the back hips and legs have a nice bouce but your modle dosent seem to carry weight as smoothly upfront. 3: speaking of back ends the tail feels almost stiff when walking. exspecially when turning. i understand not all tails are flexible but a little 'follow through' motion of the tail would be a nice small addition 4: overall the model looks amazing but the mouth/eyes do me a bit of concern, exspecially in that akaward big head stage. their mouth (especially with the glowing effect) reminds me of a frog and makes it seem bigger than it actually is. it doesnt really help that this dragon dosent seem to fully close their mouth. ever. over all its pretty solid but still needs quite a bit of work. i agree with the other comments in saying that showing a more awe-inspiering demo of your characters would garner more attention

The back legs move like they're on a doll... I think the hips need to shift more, and the tail needs more follow-through. Tbh I think I would enjoy this model more if the tail was more dinosaur-esque, with the "arc" of it flipped (i.e.: how stegasaurus tails are drawn now).

@@jamieohjamie Agreed. but for where the animations is as a whole currently the slight movements in the hindlegs is better than those front legs. overall as a while there not much transfer of weight or follow through movement.

You all are doing a great job, I love the model's and love how it flows even the little details you guys put in makes it look amazing also how the mouth glows in different lighting then sometimes it doesn't I've never seen that before I thought that was very cool Good Job guys 😊👏

Firea The Gamer They actually explained the glowing mouth in the newest dev QnA. Basically the Acid in it’s mouth builds up over time and makes it glow like that, and then once you spit it, it goes back to normal. Or something like that.

This is actually looking fantastic so far! Even as a wip, the forward walking looks nice and organic (obviously the turning isn't fully finished), and I adore the way the hatchlings are scaled with that big head baby look

It's looking good the enitial forward walking movement is a great place to be at this stage then comes turning animations and jog/trot/run animations im guessing looking good so far can't wait to see the finished product

It's nice progress. Waiting with bated breath for the running. But here's a couple of suggestions with some creative criticism. I think it would be nice if there was a walk, a casual trot, and a sprint. All three. Dog motion could work well with this. Especially with that puppy face. Also having no teeth or smaller teeth under the tongue, like the tongue gap on snakes and the shorter front teeth on a dog, would look a little less awkward. Because it currently looks like it's resting on sharp teeth and could accidentally bite its own tongue off.

Very cute, good to see progress being made! The animation is good however the tail looks very stiff, a bit more flow would make the walking and such seem so much smoother. :3 But love all round, great work guys!

The mouth is confirmed to be able to properly close, the tongue out is the dragons "T-pose" and the mouth isnt animated yet

The growth in this game is a lot better than other games I've seen. Ark just had huge feet for the babies and tiny adults. Isle was (and I think still is) mini adults. At least in this, we see at least a bigger difference in the baby model. Those eyes are huge and the chubbiness is a step up, even if overall the differences are a bit on the smaller side. But I didn't expect huge differences anyway, as I'm sure that's pretty hard to get right and still keep the growth dynamic and looking natural without needing a grow button. I have yet to see any game do dynamic growth with hugely dramatic looks between growth stages. Thumbs up

The Isle just did a rework of their entire game, so there is now a smoother growth system and the babies have different models than the adults.

Survival dinosaurs have always had different models than the adults in the isle. It’s kinda difficult to not see that if you play, considering you’re the dinosaur. But there is a new dynamic growth system where you don’t have to press any buttons.

@@shadowthorn15 From what I can tell, the models in ISLE's dynamic growth are not necessarily BETTER than this Acid drake though. Not a bad thing though, as both look nice, even if there's not a huge difference between the growth stages. But I heavily suspect you can't really do a whole lot with dynamic seamless growth since the systems have limits and at some point, you run into bad distortion with growing visuals if you go too dramatic with anything on the model.

@@polltergeiist4895 I'm not talking about Isle's old growth, as that wasn't SEAMLESS. You had to click grow buttons. We're talking about dynamic seamless growth. Yes the recode changed it to be seamless, but even theirs don't have huge differences in each stage of growth, much like here with the Acid. They both seem equal in my eyes. Again, probably has something to do with just limits on what sort of stretching and morphing these games can do on the models. Too much drastic difference and there's too much distortion perhaps? Either way, both are fine ,and both look good. Seamless growth is a lot nicer to me than clicking a grow button, so if this is all we can get from a dynamic 'model change' between stages, I'm fine with it.

The animations are great so far, and I am interested to see how you will animate a turn radius that sharp, if it is even staying that sharp. Though some friendly critique from your community trouble maker. The animations look perfectly fine during the dragons earlier stages, but as it gets older they seem to get stiffer and stiffer. I know they are a work in progress, so I am interested to see how the animations change as the dragon grows -Your community trouble maker, Eve... Just Eve

Good progress. Something I'd personally like to see is a more dynamic idle stance, looking like they're on edge, ready to pounce or flee. The standard stand is fine, but... a little extra oomph would make it special. Blow expectations out of the water!

Jao confirmed in the livestream (or on discord, I forgot which), that idle animation swill be more than just standing there breathing by the time this game is final. I don't think all of them will be in by Genesis, but later down, they will do more than just breath. =)

I have a question: Why are we seeing all the work done with this Acid Spitter? Why are you not showing this kind of progress with the 3 original dragons? You know, the ones we contributed to the Kickstarter for? If you tell me that they're being worked on just as much, fine. But show them not this, or at least add this onto them. They should be the priority in every scenario you want to write

Because the Drake is an excellent starting point for our team to develop the proper workflow, it is a simple design compared to the others and if mistakes are to be made, its best to make them on a model that is easy to fix rather than a complicated one.

@@BeawesomeGames I mean that's all well and good but perhaps then the Acid Spitter should have been first on the list from day one. The original 3 are the most anticipated by far and it would go along way towards keeping faith with the audience that we see significan progress being made on them. If the Acid Spitter was one that we all pitched in and paid for then my objection wouldn't be here.

@@gaius1986 I am not very familiar with game design, but if you are going to set up a workflow for a project, it does make sense to do something small first and test it to find out where the inefficiencies are. I mean, is there some idiosyncrasy of game design that would contraindicate that?

@@Glyvenator Personally I don't think order matters, as long as all the KS stuff gets finished at some point. I hear from this game's Patrons that the Shadowscale (plasma) is already done being rigged, meaning it's next to get this treatment, and the fire dragon and fire wyvern are next after that. So as long as all those 3 plus Acid makes it into Genesis, it's all good. I care not which order they do it in, and if they wanna ease their animator into the workload with an easy model, sure why not?

With so much on your dev teams shoulders, you guys shouldn’t show anything unless it’s absolutely AWESOME. These are just walking animations, with no turn or idle animations. We see that there work being done, but waiting weeks to see walking animations? Disappointed. Edit; someone brought up a good point, there IS idle animations. I just expected more from an idle animation

Truly Meaningless I think with all of the past drama and mistrust and doubts all still flying around this game and the dev team, they absolutely need to be more conscious and sure in what they show. And you’re going to take a while to preview something, might as well make sure what you’re showing isn’t half assed. The video is of “Acid Spitter Animations” but it’s just a walking animation. No turning, no idle, no running. just forwards walking... disappointing

When will the content you promised on kickstarter come out? I'm still waiting on that 100$ dragon... if it's hard to make the models why push to far and say your making many dragons? Why not the same dragon but different colored variations and code the breath effects different. Like that's a really easy way to make the dragons, do one model really well then copy paste with different colors and abilities

They haven’t been working on it for three years...all the triple A people they’ve hired started at the end of last year, and the animator didn’t join until April. What’s on Steam was made with out of pocket money before the KS. What you see now is being made with the people hired with the KS money.

Where did you hear 3 years? We did not get any funding for this project until October 2019. Before Kickstarter there was only 1 developer working on this project in his spare time.

cfowler7 It’s a misunderstanding as far as I know. Jao told everyone on one of the videos that it was during that time he just worked on coding the game in his free time. If anything it’s just old information that needs to be changed, in my opinion.

cfowler7 They are aware of their own information, Jao explained the misinformation on one of the Dev QnA’s if I remember right. And right now they have at least 3 or 4 different websites they use that have updated information on the game and it’s progress (RU-vid for example). Besides I think their biggest concern is actually making the game rather than spending time on a website and correcting information. But that’s my thoughts - because that’s what I would do.

The game has a lot of potential, but I really think you guys should really fix a lot of bugs the game has, like there are a lot of places we can get stuck at like rocks or other areas, the dragons glitch to the point where you can't move, although there are certain commands you can use in order to reset yourself a player shouldn't really need to do that. The day and night cycles could be better, they are a bit off certain times. Noght time is an anmoyance to me most time, because even though my screen gamma is high I can't see jack shit: maybe a night vision or increased visibility would do better? It would also be nice to have more interactive commands with the dragons on other dragons or on yourself, like grooming, flapping your wings, sitting and laying down (not just to sleep but to just chill and be able to move your head around), more vocalizations, interactions with objects around you, like splashing scratching rocks, trees or the ground as a means to sharpen your claws, maybe even add some blood animation. Idk if other pll have suggested this, but I thought of leaving this feedback here as a means to contribute some suggestions and ideas, because this game can be sooo fun. I LOVE dragons and when I saw this game I was so excited. I like it so far, but kind of bored after a while, because there is really not much to do other than killing enemies for food (which their movement could use some work still). I hope some of my suggestions could be taken into consideration. Good luck and I hope to see the game improve even more.

Maru This next update (called Genesis) is going to fix ALL of the bugs you have listed there. That’s what Jao said at least - it’s kinda like a big recode, which in my opinion, is why it’s taking so long.

@@lolaishere187 The map and models you have now in game is just bought assets with bugs, the map will be renewed and all the bugs are going to be fixed (or atleast almost/mostly all, its still in development, nothing is going to be perfect in alpha-beta version.) + new models are going to be put in.

The things you suggested might take longer than a year, maybe even longer to put in, since all these things are not the most necessary things for them to focus on. Have patience, all those things will come at some point. Games can take years to get fully developed. ^^
