Day of the Dead in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 

I do want to mention, as a mexican american I find Holloween celebration to be more of a way to encourage people to buy, spend money in stores buying and to keep the economy going. Dia de muertos however, is an ancestral celebration to remember our dead members,and to keep family bonds tighter than ever, dead or live. On this day we cook and make offerings to our dead ones.

Day of the Dead 💀 represent to me: The celebration of life through memories in search of eternity for our loved ones ! 😎

Great job describing cultural differences. It's a shame that my family who was from Mexico abandoned these traditions a generation ago. It's time to bring it back to life in California.

We have celebrated Dia de Muertos in Puerto Vallarta for the past 2 years and absolutely love it. The celebration of loved ones past is incredible and it’s such an honor to be part of the tradition.

I finally made it over there for 2 weeks. Just got back Sunday. It was so cool to be there for DDLM and Halloween night. On Halloween, there were so many kids were dressed up, and we walked the Malecon giving away candies. There were tons of kids dressed up. It was so hot, and there were some really good costumes. I don't think I'll ever forget seeing this toddler with her little 'walker' dressed as Raggedy Anne. OML.... so soooo cute. The memoriums (sorry don't know the official term) and Katrinas were amazing to see. I couldn't see too much because my daughter was scared of them. It was our first DDLM. I live in OKC, and I thought it was rough here on some humid days.... oh no no no no.... boy, I never experienced anything like that weather those days. Otherwise, we can't wait to go back !! I even started looking at some rentals in Centro/Emiliano Zapata. In EZ there was a lil bar (and restaurant) eeek I can't remember the name, it was so so cool. Great vibe and people there, on the corner with long tables along the sidewalk. A block from a large market area. Good drinks hehe... I have to find the name so I can write a glowing review lol. Great video guys and appreciate the extra details and views/close ups of the items around.

'Pedir calaverita' or asking for candies are actually a true Día de Muertos tradition :) Nothing related to the Halloween influence from US to Mexico. However, back to my childhood days, we received coins instead!

Día de Muertos is not just celebrated in Mexico or only by Mexicans ... I lived in the Philippines for years and they celebrate in the cemetery. They set up tents they sleep there, vendors set up outside of the cemetery with food beverages. it’s the same thing it’s just celebrated differently. It’s celebrated in Spain and probably many other countries - just differently.

The day of the Dead. It is the opportunity for the living to live and say goodbye to their beloved dead. Because the day someone dies is so sad for everyone. That our dead. They also suffer from the pain felt by their loved ones. But the next year. It has to be different. there must be joy on earth. for them to enjoy the heavenly paradise without pain ESPANOL El dia de los muertos. es la oportunidad que tienen los vivos de convivir y despedirse bien de sus muertos amados. Porque el dia que alguien muere es tan triste para todos. que nuestros muertos. tambien se van sufriendo por el dolor que sienten sus seres queridos. Pero al siguiente ano. tiene que ser diferente. debe haber alegria en la tierra. para que ellos difruten sin pena el paraiso celestial
