Great film. I wished i had gone. I think its easy to forget what superb locos they were. Too many years pottering around on preserved lines on one engine at 30mph. The soundtrack at the magic ton through Donny simply awesome. Still my favorite class.
I did go. It was an incredible day, with a little drama, about 1 min after 1:33 (at which point we were doing a tad over 100mph) we found ourselves doing an emergency stop and spadded a signal, as the signaller had given priority to the GNER class 91 seen just departing. We both sat for some time as the issue was sorted out. Wish they had given us a clear run as the way we were going it felt like the class 91 would not catch us, especially given a 100mph+ head start and us running non-stop.
Almost mythical to me as a boy in the late 70s early 80s , never saw any where I lived , whilst on holiday in Scotland I saw one at Kirkcaldy Station . Would love to drive one
