Day Out with Thomas event at Strasburg Rail Road September 2020 featuring footage of Thomas, Mavis, Norfolk and Western Railway 475, and Strasburg Rail Road No. 90, with pictures of Thomas, Percy, and Rusty as well.
Ok, first off, the engine that was supposed to be Mavis was not the same model. And second, Rusty is a narrow gauge engine, so how come he's on standard gauge tracks?
None of the engines at Strasburg are the exact models of the tv show engines. Faces were attached to similar looking existing engines. The basis for the characters originate from engines over in the UK, and Strasburg doesn't have access to those because they've all been scrapped or are part of other preservation societies. They made due with what they had available. Only Percy is a replica of the TV show character, but he is a dummy engine, meaning he cannot operate under his own power and needs another engine to push him.
Only one in the US that's self-powered! Those "dummy" Thomas that are pushed by another train are actually made where this one operates and then sent off to other railroads across the US!
