Staff duty can suck here's a mini story I got stuck on staff duty with that one NCO -_- had me studying weapons systems the whole time then at night I picked up cigarette buds outta the company parking lot and barracks parking lot all night the morning comes and I had to direct traffic for the PT runners then I went home the guys who relieved us slept the whole time so u get to see the difference between who u get stuck with
I was is in Schweinfurt and Aschaffenburg living the dream! Went to Fort Polk and a two hour drive to Lafayette. LA, for the equivalent of what I would see off post in Germany.
@@SouthernBelle888 Fort Polk sucked and we did not have cell phones or internet then. No cable, no single rooms, luckily two of my former platoon mates showed up a few week later and we were gone every weekend we were not in the field. I would have lost my mind or gotten chaptered out if they did not show up.
When were you stationed in Schweinfurt, i was there from 06-07 then pcsed to Mannheim...and from there to Hohenfels, Grafenwöhr, Ft. Leqis, Ft. Carson, Ft. Hood and back in Germany since 2018
what's your input/view on people who have kids and a wife joining the infantry? Does the infantry mix well with someone who has a family to take care of?
No, but youll have money so long as you understand and care for your personal finances. Youll be away from your kid 6-12 months every year and a half or so, youll be in the field from 1-4 weeks every other month or so and possibly have workdays that stretch from 5/6am to 4-9pm depending on your unit.
USMC here, morning PT, sometimes no time for chow/food. Sit in rooms all day or train in the immediate area mostly, if not in the field or on a range. Final formation and were cut for the day. Then you do whatever you want in the local area or even not local (so long as you are available for accountability the next day)
The second you said "staff duty", I got a facial tick. Company CQ was bad enough, but Battalion or Regimental Staff Duty was just some next level bullshit. I always seemed to get it on weekends.
When I was Germany work Monday through Friday get off work and lift weights. Go back to my room and prepare room and uniform for the next day. Weekends go out and explore the surrounding area and go to bars or discotechs. Stateside at Fort Polk, LA, same thing Mon-Friday. Weekends I would always leave to Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houston, Lake Charles and Panama City. That is if we were not in the field.
Is there by chance you can make a vid that breaks down basic training and or a vid that breaks down infantry training ? Ex: tests ( courses, rifle, math, pt ) i am just nosey because MATH was a killer part of my asvab which impacted my AFQT. i got 11B which is what i wanted. But if you can have a vid like that i would greatly appreciate it brotha :)
I'm pretty sure I have the video on what you need to know about basic and I made one on infantry specific basic training. let me know if there's still more you'd like to know and I can find out.
I kinda go over this in the video about people telling you not to join the infantry and the message to parents who don't want their kids to join I believe.
You might wanna explain to civilians without a military background what Staff Duty and a CQ Desk is, we automatically assume that everybody knows how to speak Army...lol
Hey, I was wondering when you're in AIT can your family or gf come to visit you and is it possible to leave out of AIT to go out with them for a little bit?
+The Infantry Life hey thanks for the knowledge. I'm just worried that I won't be able to see my family for 2 years at AIT. My gf is also worried about that too...
They're "Juicy Girls" because their $40 drinks used to be mostly juice. Dates back to 60s/70s. No such thing as a "drinky girl". Was there back in the 90s with 102nd MI (stood down now). There used to be a Tokkari game called "Find The Midget".... I'll let you figure that one out...
So the midget is still creeping around there? Or were you at TDC a while ago? "Juicy Girl/Drinky Girl"; just being kimchi crusty, man... ain't nothin' but a thing...
Are there many differences between American Basic Training and Australian Basic Training i want to go to Kapooka and i have been researching, watching vlogs, studying practice aptitude tests, ive also done the ASVAB practice tests but am not sure if they are relevant to the Australian Infantry, I weigh 58kg and am training in fitness aswell, Im looking for all the knowledge i can to help me get through basic training.
I would think they would have a bunch of similarities but, they will most likely be different when it comes to training on tactics that your army uses specifically.
Any advice on 11A? I'm in JROTC in highschool, and i"m probably taking my asvab soon, and I will most likely get a fairly good score, so I'm just wondering what it takes to get 11A. Thanks!
Didnt know u were stationed at Riley, watched ur vids before i joined, but yea going to aggieville is the best at tubbys and the college girls are pretty stuck up to us
I always got stuck on staff duty with this guy who hated me only because I was catholic and he was southern Baptist. Imagine 24 hours a day at least twice a month with a guy telling you that you're going to Hell unless you repent lol.
LMAO! I guess those gals weren't just a Marine Corp's problem. Yeah we had dumb assed boots that would get hitched to them gals too. We tell them no don't, they will find a new Marine, then you risked getting into fist fight because the Boot was...In...Luv!" LMAO Even when I was a Boot I didn't fall for them but yeah I bought them that weird drink. I tasted it too and the realized it was a scam. That was in Okinawa in the 1980s. Yes I was in the Infantry. Welcome home brother.
You're going to have differences in the way it's ran, and the way you do certain things but, yes I would say there are going to be a lot of similarities.
I would ask them about the job you wanna do, if you have one in mind. ask about bonuses, gi bill, when you could actually leave for basic, things like that. also, don't let them talk you into a job you don't wanna do.
pushups, situps, and run bro. that shit is going to be very important during your time in basic. you need to pass the test to get out of 30th AG to begin your training.
markqwize draper me too bro. Just do what you know will make you happy, don’t listen to anybody else. Only you know the extent you’re willing to go and that may be a lot further than your family could even fathom. Take care and RLTW
+SuperSaiyan4ism yeah, be cool, pay attention, don't talk back, don't question, don't get caught doing anything against the rules, (notice I said "caught") and finally, don't quit no matter what you do! I've got a video on that if you haven't seen it. the one titled don't you ever fucking say I can't.
Infantry is the direct action force of the army. So you'll be the one in direct contact with the enemy, and you'll patrol on foot a lot. Cavalry, specifically, Cav Scout (19D mod) will patrol on HumVees or other combat vehicles. You will do scouting and recon missions, the point won't be to engage the enemy directly. Cavalry are trained as infantry, but with more knowledge in mechanics and vehicle operations. Or so I've heard
I was in 2000-04 yeah we had company CQ, at the company level CQ was an officer and usually had an E5 or E6 as a runner, in the barracks it was usually an E5 and a lower enlisted as a runner
@ CBS ARMY 61b & Coast Guard SAbm ('80-'84) CQ was the best night to have pizza delivered, because you didn't have to waste any of it on your three other bunkies. You know what I mean? Guys taking a bite or two and leaving the rest of the slice for the ants.
Any chance I could message u on Instagram or something? I have some questions I’ve been meeting with a recruiter but I can’t lie I don’t really trust him
