I truly miss Frank's that use to be in Schulenburg. For many years was an awesome place to eat. Saint Mary's at High Hill will always be a special place in my heart. Thanks!
That place with the red roof in the background at 14:51 is Oakridge smokehouse. I popped into there once for lunch on the way home from Seguin. They had the best potatoes I've ever had anywhere. Ive been trying to replicate how they did it ever since but best I can figure they're just boiled and buttered but they must use an inherently tastier potato than what I'm using because I can't even come close lol
I love when you go to food places you not only try the food you try to get to know the owners and the people who work there. Texas has such a great melting pot full of amazing people. I love to see their stories and how they got started. I'm from yoakum so I've eaten at the city market in schulenberg a few times but i never knew who the owner was or anything. I just knew the food was good. Now I know they have good people who run it and it makes me wanna eat there more.
Used to travel to Schulenberg once a month for work and would have my lunch break at Frank's or Oakridge whenever I could. Lovely people, beautiful architecture and good food.
I'm kinda ashamed. I've lived in Sheridan most of my life. I've been to Schulenburg numerous times and have never eaten at the City Meat Market. After seeing that chili dog, that's going to change. We love Kaspers sausage from Weimar, but I'm going to get some sausage from the CMM soon. I've been to Potters. That place is awesome. I've also been to the Stanzel Museum with a class trip but I found it more informative from your trip there. I thank you so much for checking out all the little towns in Texas. I've always wanted to go back to the movie theater to see the restoration. Last time I saw it it was a wreck. The ending of this video was hilarious. I've been watching The Daytripper for a few years. Happy I found it on yt because there may be shows I missed.
The restoration on the theater is not complete, the people that bought it are selling it to somebody else. Not sure what will become of it, I hope whoever buys it understands the historical significance of it and keeps it intact. My good friend’s family owned it prior to the people that currently do. I grew up spending time in that place, lots of fond memories of the Von Minden.
Went today to city market and was disappointed in service and hot dogs. Not alot of chilie and I tried the jalapeno sausage which had no snap or juicyness. Brisket looks dry also so I didn't order any.
