I have a Richard Bateman story for you. Earlier this year we were having trouble with our sprayer and out of ideas I called Richard to see if he had any solutions. He lives about half an hour away from us right on the coast and he says he’ll come and have a look. About 15 mins later he arrives in this suped up little Audi. He’s wearing good clothes but he crawls around under it and finds the problem. He says he’s got the part at home and asks me to follow him back to get it. By the time I hop in my car he’s gone, I lose him before the end of our road and I have to ring him to get his address. I get to his place and he’s got the bit waiting, shows me a tractor he’s restoring in his workshop and tells me if there’s anything else just let him know. And would not take any money for doing all of that. Champion.

Being a Devon lad born and bred I’ve got to support this fabulous machine I hope it’s goes really well for you. I say I was a Devon lad that was some 75+ year ago!! It certainly sounds very technical and nowadays you don’t just drive a tractor. My first was a Fordson D and then a Major and then a little grey Fergie which was much easier for a 12 year old! The first power we had was of course a shire horse pulling ploughs, binders, mowers and hay trailers now that’s a long time ago. My little Corgi used to collect the cows for milking in the morning and take them back after milking. Those were the days and in many ways I regret leaving Devon but a family fallout left me no choice. I miss the countryside and many of my friends are no longer with us but if you maintain a positive outlook you can usually get round it. A good trip Olly and I’m glad you enjoyed my home County.
I once picked a load of American tourists up from a country house in east Devon. Chap says to me “how do you cope driving around these lanes?” “Just shut my eyes and hope for the best”😂😂

Loved today’s video. When you where looking at those turbines my farm was less than a mile behind you. I have seen a wind turbine tech scaling down those blades abseiling and he literally looked like an ant on it. I have done a fair bit of contracting work near the Bateman factory and have seen a few prototypes at play including the Bateman tractor that never made it to production. Use to very often sit next to Jason on the school bus for around a year as he went to the local primary school near where I attended secondary school and had a year or so overlap before he continued his secondary education elsewhere.
Another fascinating vid Olly - what an interesting factory tour!! Must be a great feeling seeing your particular unit being built. It’s me and my wife (Susan) 41st wedding anniversary today, 41 years of happy marriage - where have they gone? Definitely feeling 100% today!
I live in co Galway Ireland and we’ve got hundreds of those windmills here, at first I liked them but now I think they’re an eyesore destroying the natural landscape. Really like your channel, best of luck with your new sprayer 👍
Glad to see Bateman finally trying to catch up with their competitors,Hardi,Berthoud,Househam,John Deere etc. The controller in the cab doesn’t look in the best position,looks like a step back with the mighty switches etc. Finger touch or push buttons may of been a better option for long days. Holding it in position is maybe not a great idea,but intrigued to see how you get on with it! Is yours going to be a 50kph machine ? Hope those nozzle body’s don’t give you too much stick 🙈🙈 Good luck with your new machine.
It’s weird watching you in my backyard,a few facts for you …the wind turbine power cable goes across our farm..the spring barley in the background we drilled and I half recognise the narrow road on the way to the factory.100% I shan’t share any more facts as I will spoil the surprise but more videos like that and you be ……..
That new sprayer looks superb...and my daughter used to live down Cornwall and that part of the country is really nice...have a safe journey back home 👍
Great video, nice to see some of the factory and lovely views. I had them put the red boom switch between section switches, centre above your thumb and turn it around so up=up down= down on boom. not right and left. I can only dream of a of having a foot brake 😆 You wishing you waited till end of year now! 😉

I remember in pre Bateman days when you used a helicopter to spray fields. It used to fly over my back garden at about fifty feet when turning and dodging power lines.
We run 2 rb35s that our 36m not far from you! Only thing I would say is when it gets wet we was finding the back end was pulling out off the beds a lot with the weight of the booms!we started with 420 then 540s, We have gone to 710s now and there different machines!

Bit different to the Bateman I used to drive, we could drop the sprayer off and put a Lely fertiliser spreader on.Go to Grimethorpe nr Barnsley and you can see a big wind turbine with 2 blades on as the 3rd one has snapped off.
That sprayer will be some machine. Spraying will be fun not a job that has to be done .roads around there are like our local ones meet someone else its go back
PWM . Pulse Width Modulation is the amount of on time to off time . that's how most car interior lights dim down to off by gradually increasing the amount of off time 👍
i might have seen that sprayer on the road to day in north Devon have to say batman are awesome my second cousin who is a contractor in mid Devon has one and one of my relatives Norman had one shipped out to him in Australia there that good
very interesting to see where my Bateman was made, been sat in it all day catching up before the weather turns nasty. You will find the footbrake very useful, had to jam mine on this morning as speeding motorist shot round a blind corner and was inches away from going under the front , has is got a foot throttle? they are nice on the road . another great video 👍👍
You need to try draying bales down here in Devon 😂 you must have driven past my house as I live next to the north Devon link road on a farm near those wind turbines

What width of rowcrops did you go for? Look smart with black wheels. Hope you didn't go for Pwm. Had Bateman mechanic here last week and he was having trouble with it on a machine.
I'd assumed it would be a factory more than a barn. There's alot around us but maybe as they live for ever and located fairly close by. That lane isn't narrow 🤣
