Miss Universe 1993, the 42nd Miss Universe pageant, was held at Auditorio Nacional, Mexico City, Mexico on May 21, 1993. Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico was crowned as Miss Universe 1993. Seventy-nine contestants competed in the 1993 Miss Universe Pageant.

Here in Puerto Rico we are verry pround of her. She have done an amazing job representing us and the latin woman. I was born in 1998 after this but I know about her cause she has done so much and I see her know that time has passed and you look at her and she looks even more beautiful know. Era una belleza fresca , natural , ingenua , dulce , estaba tranquila y se notaba que lo importante era disfrutar el momento por encima del peso de la competencia que tanto resta la naturalidad del momento. The 1993 pageant had no contestants in the top 10 who really stood out from the rest. In the end the judges picked the contestant who was the most genuine and authentic and have the warmest personality.
