Stuff breaks, stuff gets fixed.
Slick's crossing of the Pacific took 19 days total. Lots of sailing, fishing and information about crossing the ocean.
Slick is a 1984 Beneteau First 38, from Slick's Adventure, www.hardlyanythingworks.com

Spectacular voyage including Gordon L. Glad you gave us a peek below decks. That is my dream boat or one with similar dimensions . I have to watch these videos a few more times because they're so entertaining. Great work guys.

Best cruising video's I have seen on youtube, fun and educational. keep up the great video's and have a great time and safe travels boys. I look forward to seeing what "silver gold" you put out next!!!

I learn more watching y'all videos than any other about deep ocean sailing dam y'all are right y'all sail a boat more in two months than most people do in two years let me know if you ever need a third mate lol I'm in east Texas 😀 That is hard core sailing at its best slick

Can Martin's drive be balanced some how he looks to be vibrating. Great videos I enjoy the in depth rigging information/tips.

Andrew Jones i think if i spliced the rope instead of having it tied in a figure eight know at the generator end it would calm down the vibration. Also the bearings are pretty warn out so that doesnt help. Thanks for watching.

Awesome, but can I ask why you didn't run the preventer from the aft cleat which would avoid chaffing from the rigging?
@HardlyAnythingWorks
@HardlyAnythingWorks 10 лет назад
The main reason for not running it from the aft cleat is that you need the angle from forward to actually prevent it from an accidental jibe. On the aft cleat you would still get about 120 degrees of travel which is enough to remove Nathan's thick head. The best would be if Slick had cleats amidship, but she doesn't. Thanks for watching. More videos soon.

I have no solar panels? How your autopilot is works so long? Thank you)
@HardlyAnythingWorks
@HardlyAnythingWorks 9 лет назад
Mushekfly i have solar panels now, this makes a huge difference as we can also have cold beer and ice cubes. but to answer your question, the tow generator powers all the electronics including the autopilot. Thanks for watching.

pardon my inexperience, what's a tow generator?
@HardlyAnythingWorks
@HardlyAnythingWorks 8 лет назад
+Diane Rabin You tow it behind the boat and as you sail it generates power, although the one i had didn't generate so much.

"sundown"at 21:00..at least it's not the "wreck of the edmond fittzgerald"...lol i'd like to do the same crossing. may be too old and not enough experience to pull it off. they say life stars at 50...well it may be too late to start such an adventure....

+Richard Feldman I met tons of guys doing this even late into their 70's. Old retired couples, families, teenagers, crazy soloists, all sorts, all ages, all income classes. Go for it!

could it be that your lines are old or sun damaged ?
@HardlyAnythingWorks
@HardlyAnythingWorks 10 лет назад
1962moe The lines are (were) fairly new at the time. The Isomat has-head is poorly designed with only an aftermarket spin-crane available. Also the rest of the lines just rub on things so you have to watch out.

ok well i hope that you have taken care of that and that you have clear sky and full sails
