Just putting this out for anyone that watches this feeling nervous about transitioning into being an RN. I distinctly remember watching these videos thinking “Woah this is about to be real. I don’t think I can do it.” You totally can. The transition is hard. Every shift you learn a new lesson (sometimes the hard way). You will get to where you trust yourself to take care of your patients. Holley its been cool to watch you progress and grow as a nurse just a semester ahead of me. It’s helped me through school and now through the beginning of my career. Love your content!

Some people get used to the hospital and comfortable with it, and some don’t! And both are okay! I did one year on the floor and the anxiety before shifts never got better, and my hospital was so understaffed I didn’t feel like I could safely take care of patients. Now I’m a GI nurse and LOVE it! Just to give hope to others. There are so many different opportunities as a nurse. 😊

Its really refreshing hearing that the transition into nursing is not easy for everyone because thats not something we’re taught in school. I’ve come across people who say they’ve cried for months until they got the hang of nursing which makes me soooo nervous because i don’t ever want to imagine possibly hating my career or being fearful of going into work 😭haha but thank you for being honest as always. Its nice to see someone who you’ve followed for a while who is so passionate about their career open up and be honest about the hard times :)

Just wanted to say thank you for your honesty. It is a hard transition. I struggled a lot. I cried a lot. I am super hard on myself as well (huge perfectionist here). But know that all of us go through that. Take it from me, 9 months in, it does get better. Don't get me wrong, we still have crazy shifts, but over time you learn to breathe through the craziness. I’m am so glad that I have became a CNA before entering nursing school, it has helped me a lot and also to understand where my fellow nurses come from when they tell me I’m there eyes and ears for the patients.

Thank you for always speaking truth from your heart every time you post girl! Even thought I’m just a CNA/CMA working in a clinic and hopefully get accepted into a LPN program this upcoming fall with a family to raise, it’s hard and I’m learning everyday that no matter what make sure you make that time with the patient care because even those I’ve had several difficult days, there are moments where I have patients that express gratitude of how much I helped them in their need. That helps me remember that the hardships have a light that shines. Sorry for the ramble but had to share and again Thank you for your encouragement and being you girl 💕💕💕

It is getting easier but I’m coming off orientation next week and ya girl is SCARED. I’m on the same type of unit and it’s hard.

I am so glad I found you on here! I love love love watching your videos, I look up to you so much. I’m just now starting out as a CNA and signing up for college to work towards becoming a L&D RN! I had my daughter last August and I was so thankful for all the nurses I had and really appreciated everything they did for me. It made me think about how awesome it would be if I were in their shoes and be able to help people and be the best support system I can be. So extremely excited for this journey! ❤️

I’m from Iowa too! Moved away about 10 years ago but Iowa will always be home. You live in a great part of Iowa! Want to get into nursing school and you are so encouraging and that it’s not too late! I’m 38 but it has always been my dream to work in labor and delivery. I can already tell you are an amazing nurse! Go girl!!

Definitely true. Nursing is one of the hardest things I have gone through in my whole life! & after a while you’re like well nursing school was SO hard but this is their LIVES and I am in control of that? Like what?! Lol I work on an Oncology floor and a lot of our patients come in either critical from post-chemo or from their new diagnosis and coming in as a new nurse I was completely floored!! I have been on my own for about 4 months now since my training and it’s definitely still hard but I feel SO much more confident so just have faith and keep pushing it does get better! Love how relatable you are!

Some people who are CNA say being a CnA doesn’t help or not much but I think it’s helps tremendously. First of all you get used to being and talking to patients which is nursing students biggest problem in the beginning. Second, they know how to use a lot of the equipment! Last week I was in the Er rotation and I didn’t even know how to turn on the blood pressure cuff and set it up to cycle. I had to play with it and it gets cycling and I tried to turn it off then I wanted it to stop beeping because I was done. It was a mess. Anyways, third, they are really good at all the basic patient care. I know the nursing process but I still struggle to give a patient a bed bath. I’m slow and they get it done so fast.

I’ve been a progressive care nurse for almost 3 years and it’s definitely one of the most difficult places to work. Patients are usually ICU sick without the resources of the ICU. But it’s an amazing place to learn every single day and grow as a nurse, as well as a person. Don’t let it get you down, cry it out and know that you will get more comfortable every day!

Just found you. I’m at where you’re talking about cheaper things. That’s what I noticed right off. Aldi and Walmart. Me too :) although I’m living off student loans now (PA school) and was only making about 25k a year before school. But I will probably mostly still go to those places when I’m graduating and making 100k. More bang for the buck
