Hi, you are a wrong in this Comment because we arn't a Illyrian people, Greek is a else, and Greeks people isn't a Illyrian people and in Greece have a lot of Albanian people, we 🇦🇱 Albanian people until the ☀️ Sun warms the earth!. Understand!.
On the other side of the Adriatic is Italy. They’ve made progress because back in the day, Albanians were desperate to flee to Italy because life there was so much better. Today that’s not happening anymore and Durrës has the potential to be an Adriatic summer playground. I think of Dalmatia and Istria and the stunning coastline and islands of the eastern Adriatic so Albania has sleeper coastal cities. They just remain waiting to be discovered.
The flee that you are referring to was at the end of communism 1989-1900, the opression of the mos ridigid communism system pushed so many people to flee in very difficult conditions, on small speedboats filled way over its capacity, so many of them have died (adults and kids). But now its history, as with the change of the system from public owned property to privately owned business flourished and the country saw many changes. Durres particulary has been a highly touristic destination for almost 15 maybe 20 years now.
That’s very true what you said but you forgot to mention that Albania was a communist country for 50 years, ruled by a dictator who literally killed and persecuted a lot of innocent people. What Albania went through in the 90s many European countries went through in the 50s which did the same by leaving Europe and migrating to USA for a better future. Now Albanian moved forward with big steps and is a safe and beautiful European country .
The first university of Dursi was in 1380, after the Ottomans invaded Albania. The University was transferred to Zara Croatia ... with the First Rector, Gjon Durrësaku (1396) etc
@@marildacerisha1598 Marilda I love what I see about Albania. I wanted to go this year to Durres, but I cannot because of Covid-19. Kindest and Loveliest regards from me
@@mihailkolev7578 Thank you so much dear friend. I grew up in durres at the beach town it's called town 13 I still go almost every year for vacation. Love my old city man. The king Zogu had his home there in the top of the city so sad it's ruined from the old regime...
Albania has been transforming its economy into a true touristic country as more new infrastructures have been built over these last few years. Durress is a very nice city. Nice video
Infrastructure is vital for developing a better economy and workforce. But, I would say that Durres needs more trees and bikelanes. Some of the roads can be reconfigured and instead of palm trees, there needs to be trees that can provide shade.
The port of Durres will go away from where it is now, and will became only a tourist port for yachts and cruise ships, and it's gone be one the most modern and biggest in the Mediterranean... Lot of the works that you saw in the city, it's also because a year ago an earthquake destroyed a lot of the buildings in Durres, but we're standind up... Thank you for visiting Albania, and for your beautiful words for my country... It makes us happy, after years and years that the world judges us from the news on TV... Enjoy your time in Albania
Hi Alina! Thanks for showcasing the beautiful city of Durrës - Albania’s port on the Adriatic Sea. The Roman amphitheater of Durrës was the largest in the Balkans. Hopefully, this candidate site can soon be added to the official list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Albania! Your picturesque beach footage warms me up today - the first official day of winter. Thanks! Be happy, healthy, and safe Alina!!! Gëzuar Krishtlindjet / щасливого Різдва / С Рождеством / Linksmų šventų Kalėdų!!!

@@alidurmishi5636 I respond to you respectfully. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: “The Amphitheatre of Durrës (Albanian: Amfiteatri i Durrësit; Latin: Amphitheatrum Dyrrhachium) is a Roman amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Durrës, Albania. Construction began under the emperor Trajan in the 2nd century AD and it was destroyed twice by earthquakes in the 6th and 10th centuries. It is the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Balkan Peninsula with once having a capacity of 20,000 people”.
@@gediminasmurauskas7817 . Everione can to write everithing in Amphitheatre , but Latin language they had Illyrian . We Illyrian existing before Romanian people, understant!?
@@alidurmishi5636 Thank you for this clarification and history lesson, Ali! Peace / Paqen / Mir! “The Illyrians (Ancient Greek: Ἰλλυριοί, Illyrioi; Latin: Illyrii) were a group of Indo-European tribes, who inhabited the western Balkan Peninsula in ancient times. They constituted one of the three main Paleo-Balkan populations in the Balkans, along with the Thracians and Greeks.” “The territory the Illyrians inhabited came to be known as Illyria to later Greek and Roman authors, who identified a territory that corresponds to most of Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, much of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, western and central Serbia and some parts of Slovenia between the Adriatic Sea in the west, the Drava river in the north, the Morava river in the east and in the south the Aous river or possibly the Ceraunian Mountains. The first account of Illyrian peoples dates back to the 6th century BC, in the works of the ancient Greek writer Hecataeus of Miletus”.
On that subject, here's a little travel video I think you'll enjoy. I believe she's Russian not Ukrainian, but I think you'll be ok: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aK5j-JRal5U.html (two parts).
i never tought about Albania as a country that would be interesting to visit but tanx to this video i changed my mind. thr " LA" of Albania looks preety cool.
i am a local of Durres and sadly the development of the city isnt the best in terms of urbanistics, infrastructure, transportation, quality of construction...its crazy how our government approves renovation projects of the streets to build just concrete and we dont even have a park ! ,the coast i remember as a child was full of trees and now we have cut them all to build buildings wherever they can with no plan and lets not mention the earthquake that happened and a lot of citizens lost their homes due to the bad quality those buildings were built. we do have hotels and bars with great interior trying to improve the tourism but sadly im not happy to see my city destroyed this way. as a child i remember swimming at the sea and it was with so clear waters and full of sand but now... its all with private beaches sadly dirty waters too & you have to pay for it,like public beaches barely exist here ...however its still my city and i still enjoy living here but i wish the development was more organized and that the corrupted leaders wish they didnt think just for their pockets but also for the future of their children, nieces and its citizens
It's nice to see positive videos like this about my country because there's a lot of negativity about us,different medias are portraying us as savages and thugs. I'm originally from Korça ( another city in Albania ) but I'm nostalgic about Durrës because i have so many good memories about the city, and that's where I started walking for the first time as a baby 🤣
I am going to Albania after seeing a few videos, rather than central Italy. I just want to get there before the huge influx of tourism. I live in a place that has been 'discovered' and want to get away from all the people! I hope that everyone who had to leave Albania due to economics is now able to go back to their hometowns. :)
@@EdmondThemeli we all want to be better. Just want to say, there was anti-albanian propaganda in yugoslavia, coming from one "specifi" center, but, croatians know the truth and we highly respect our albanian friends, who also defended Croatia as their own homeland! No matter the efforts from media, we know the truth
@@miranblazek5303 I appreciate what you just said, there's so much hatred in today's world, humanity need to change if we want to live in harmony in this planet

From your livestream the other day, sounds as though you'll be headed to more cool places for Christmas and New Years! Look forward to your next videos from Albania. Thanks!

What a beautiful, balmy 'retreat' i had never heard of! Great video tour/info, food, with ancient ruins and palm trees! At 41.32 lat slightly 'lower' than Rome. Wish I was there and not in the Anglo world!? Thanx Alina!
A very interesting Roman amphitheatre! It looks like the Roman engineers dug out a piece of sloping ground and cast concrete seats and steps in place. Presumably, they finished the job by covering the concrete with cut stone seats and steps. And this finishing stone was presumably recycled later to build the church on the site. So now what remains, apart from the church, is the Roman concrete which appears in yet another of your great videos.
Really great vlogging Alina. You made a great choice to visit and showcase non-typical places. I planned to tour south east Europe in a few months on a motorbike. I will now definitely add Albania to my tour.
Love watching your channel, I’m traveling vicariously through your vlogs. And thank you for taking the time to explain how you get from city to city. Information like that is gold for when I’m able to travel again. Be safe
@@bingo737 his maps is the true and rapresent the past and the future of Albania. You don’t like it ? I’m happy for that because i like when i see you suffer.
Dear Alina, I'm also a Canadian. I can relate with you on that level and also with your personality profile. I'm an economist. I arrived in Switzerland 30 years ago and I've since worked for a cantonal government in public finance. I must congratulate you on the development of your Channel. I've been following you since your trip accross Russia. Seeing you on Instagram and RU-vid is a real kick. It's really great to be able to travel via your videos. I have come to look forward to your live sessions as they offer a chance to interact with you almost directly and, somehow you do it so well. You are very kind to your audience. Furthermore, you share your thoughts on how you grow personally through your experiences and your thoughts are really constructive. I have decided to write to you about one of your habits that I suggest you reconsider in a certain way. It is about your habit of swearing using the words "Jesus", "Jesus Christ" and "fuck". You did react to a follower's comment on that issue in your last live session in BERAT Albania and I got your point - mainly about having been raised in an environment where such a practice was "normal". I understand that it is inevitable to express frustration in a vocal way - I also need to - but the choice of words for that purpose is very wide. May I suggest further thoughts? Personnaly, when I was your age, I used to swear a lot in that same way. But at one point I decided to do away with it simply because of self respect - being aware of the example that I give to others whomever they could be. Then I grew up some more. If you are at home with people who know you well, you are as free as you wish to be. But when you broadcast yourself to thousands of people, necessarily a good share of them will be Christians that, not only know Jesus personnally, but also love Him very deeply. Hearing you use his name as you do, makes them feel the same way as you would if someone insulted and humiliated your dad publicly. We cannot help but regret this habit. My suggestion is that you avoid using those swear words when you record videos that are intended for an audience. Be sure that this does not affect the way we may feel about you as a person. We have learned to love, come what may. It would be a big plus if you could show that you are sensitive to this intimate issue. And it does not keep you from swearing anyway you like when you are on your own (as I do). In any case, thank you so much for your work; it is a real contribution to society. With love, all my best wishes for the year to come. Daniel

Excellent advise and may I add something respectfully as well. Please place less central your face, personality and dominate the videos. Try to stay away from camera as much as possible. With your heavy made-up, face, you look very pretentious.
Good to hear your perspective on Durrës. We weren't sure whether we'd visit after seeing reviews online, but I think you've convinced us to come for a couple of days!
The amphitheatre was only discovered in 1966? That is remarkable.......It makes you wonder how many other hidden treasures are waiting to be discovered throughout the world....... Wonderful video Alina, thank you....and I think you should have gone down the stairs................💖
It's true....Durrës has so many hidden treasures that haven't been discovered yet but tragically many....so many archeological sites have been destroyed by the companies that are building new modern boulevards, hotels and so on.....
Jacob frost. Is tiranna ok for staying as your base. And is there a train station at all there or do you need to rely on busses. And are the buses frequent etc
@lionofjudah4114 Tirana is good base if you want to see the beaches and mountains. No trains, and the bus system is confusing, but taxis are pretty affordable
my city durres beautiful, Durres beach stretches out more then ten kilometres along the city’s waterfront, durres is also repelete with Roman and Byzantine heritage, greeting from London 🇦🇱🏴🇺🇸
Hallo Alina! Loved the video. The food in Durres looked great! Loved the Amphitheater. I am such a history dweeb. Always yearning to know as much as I can. Durres looks wonderful and I agree with you that I bet they will begin seeing a tourist boom. Hood to know that Americans can go without having to be tested. Can't imagine what's next on your agenda. Be safe, be healthy, cheers!
Nice video of my current homebase city. Yes, I live in Durres. Living by the sea is quite nice and yes, it's quite busy during tourist season with people from all over the globe. By my reckoning your calculations are off. 100 leke is about one US dollar. The bus from Tirana to Durres costs 150 leke so it's a dollar and 50 cents but the smaller vans charge 200 leke. It's rather laid back. They wait for the buses to fill then they go. Life is quite different when comparing Tirana and Durres. I prefer the slower pace in Durres. It would have been interesting to run into you and see how you do your filming with all your paraphernalia. I live right behind the structure you filmed in front of that was right by the fisherman statue and the other statue. You're right there is quite a bit more to see as well as more history to explore. Thanks for the enjoyable video and enjoy Berat. Don't miss the view from the castle either and do visit Durres again with more time to explore. Should you come back it would be great to meet up for coffee.
Nothing to say. I have been watching your videos with my coffee every morning before starting to work. Albania through your story was amazing :) Keep on moving! I love your videos :)
That vlog is epic. I really really enjoyed it 😀. The beautiful whether together with your positive attitude make the video more enjoyable I really like the status .One of the best travelling vlog i've seen so far on youtube. Will be waiting for your next video. Until then take care 😘.
Hi Alina ! I'm from there but I haven't visited for more than 10 years , I feel there are lots of changes in a good way, thanks a lot for showing us , thank you so much !
Durres is more quit than Tirana but Tirana is more optional for young’s also Durres some people like more Durres some Tirana , this city have different things to offer and similar also ! Both are amazing ! In Durres is very calm and the sea and this helps me thinking every time I go to Durres I think more ! You are welcomed !
Thank you for showcasing Albania through your videos. I left Albania and been living in NYC for 21+ years now. Your videos have woken some nostalgia. If you ever visit Albania in the summer, I highly recommend visiting and exploring the south of Albania. I highly recommend my two favorite, Vlora and Saranda. Dhermi and Ksamil which are situated in the aforementioned towns are called “the Ionian pearl” because of its beauty.
Hoi, Alina, now if there is somone asking for the beaten track, this is definitely far away from any beaten tracks. Super, I like it this way, you know. Really well done to show the people this part of Europe. More, please, this way.

I am glad you did a tour of the Roman colosseum , I would love, love going there as a kid. I would get immersed in the history. Unfortunately 80% of the place is still underground.
You are the best in showing a city because of your excellent capture you always make in a city. You are right, it is definitely a place that will become soon an even more desirable place to visit. Thanks for visiting the coliseum which was one of the great destinations with a lot of history. Travel by bus made it even more enjoyable, riding a bike is a little hard in places you visit in getting half your strength used up before you even start. Good choice, Alina. Certainly a great time saver also. The fact you have excitement when you share first hand what is there, it always makes us all feel what you do. Your editing and camera work is top of the scale. Don't stop what you do with that. Excellent excursion you made for us, much enjoyable!! Stay safe and keep smiling!! Cheers!!
Beautiful city. I will say, personally I would of ventured on down the stairs into the darkened abyss. 😁 at least to the point of not seeing which is where you said no and turned around ha.
We Albanians need to take good care of our ancient amphitheatres, because building houses inside it is not very pleasant. I have been in colosseum, Italy and it was badass with millions of tourists.
There seems to be so many nice places in Albania. Durres is one of them and looks like a historical city which has a nice atmosphere😉 I will look into the history of Durres, since it’s interesting!!!
Next time bring a flashlight, I'd love to see what's down there. It's neat how much access a person has to the amphitheater. Most places have much of it barred off to tourists.
Very nice video .If I want to go to any European country, I will prefer Albania.Durres is really peaceful. I will try the food definitely you ordered in that restaurant and the tourism based cost of living is low in Albania. Moreover New generically transformed covid19 is rapid in UK.Many countries cancelled flights from England. Take care.
Hi Alina! Finally getting time to watch the whole thing. Beautiful guitar again! I think it’s funny how many euphemisms you and I use that are similar, like drivers who drive like “bats out of hell”! We must be using the same urban dictionary, lol! BTW, today in Dallas, which is North Texas 😉, it’s a nice balmy 70 F / 20 C for the high today, in the middle of December!
