This just got me thinking, if Oda didn't exist, Dazai would already killed Mori and become the Porto Mafia Boss. The Armed Agency wouldn't stand a change and eventually the whole city (if not the whole country) would be under Porto Mafia reign.
there's a light novel named "Beast" (spoiler alert!!) it's basically an alternate timeline wherein oda survived. the catch is, oda never knew dazai because he left two years before the war against mimic. dazai did become the port mafia boss but it wasn't because he killed mori. because oda wasn't there during the war against mimic, mori was killed by mimic and dazai took mori's place as the boss. the port mafia's influence was much greater under dazai's rule than mori's though.
@@MirkaImagination true!! with his intellect and the fact that (spoiler alert!!) he has both chuuya and atsushi on his side xD some characters' lives in "beast" were tweaked not just dazai's and oda's. it's a really interesting take on the "what if"s.
The biggest difference between Dazai and Fyodor. Dazai has no particular goal but he has the highest intelligence(after/ along with Ranpo as Dazai almost always has complete control over every situation) and best gift in the anime. Fyodor has a goal and having a goal makes every plan more effective, organised and that's what gets in Dazai's way. But Dazai has people who's determination are higher than anyone else, Ada and Mafia members.

God, when Dazai just casually said "Nice cafe, huh?" In the manga i got chills. Like all hope is lost and man just comes in with a cup of tea and solves everything

Dazai were in the two state of emotions, one is depressive yet never really shows it out, the other side of him is giving up on how cruel human can be that he find no hope of trust on people but still tries to follow what Oda said to him before his death. It's like forcing yourself to live on a life where you can see all the blacks and whites so you decided to show the hidden anger on humanity without knowing you're mad I have been like this once, so I kind of understand why is him like that. Can't tell if it's a personality disorder but I can say the creator wrote Dazai's personality really well
From how much every thought in Dazai's mind and the way his story is written relate exactly to my life and how I see this world until today. It's a whole complex combination of mental disorders started by the one and only ADHD. as it has it's bad side, ADHD is probably the main factor for that huge ability to just... see though everything around us? almost completely but never perfect ofc -.- so maaaaybeeee Dazai is a resemblance of that... damn we are so awesome.. too awesome for this world to handle (jk)

I love how Dazai causally asks Ango how he's doing, and then out of nowhere, pulls a 360, takes the gun out of Ango's pants, (near the back) and then asks: "You mf...You thought I forgot didn't you?? That's cute." Ango be like: "Fck, he's on to me..."
I love his character development. He doesn’t just become a happy-go-lucky guy with not shame or ties to his past. He obviously deals with the heavy burden of having worked in the PM. But he has a type of apathy towards a lot of things that to normal people would seem horrible. Apathy is a result of trauma. He was only 15, so he obviously was badly traumatised and hen turned that pain on Akutagawa. It’s really sad but interesting.

you know, if Oda (Dazai's friend who got killed, he told Dazai "Be on the side that saves people. If both sides are the same, then choose to become a good person. Save the weak, protect the orphaned. You might not see a great difference between right and wrong, but... saving others is something just a bit wonderful.") never died or maybe even never met Dazai, Dazai would've probably killed Mori and taken over as Port Mafia's Boss. Armed Detective Agency wouldn't have stood a chance, especially since their members are extremely less Compared to PM. Fukuzawa (ADA's President) probably would've been killed and Kunikida, Kenji, Ranpo, Tanizaki, Atsushi and Kosano (ADA's members) would've either died too or joined PM. PM would've been much more bigger if Dazai have been the leader, especially since he was ruthless before Oda died (Oda told Dazai to be better and stuff before dying, Dazai took it to heart and left PM to join ADA). The Guild might've stood a chance, especially since they are really wealthy but it would've been a full fledged war. Glad Dazai joined ADA, though it cost Oda's life.
I love how 100% done Ango is with Dazai at 1:07 lol. His expression is so calm, it makes me wonder if he knew that Dazai was only trolling and wasn't actually gonna kill him. 😂
The fact is, even if Dazai were to be a Mafia boss at any point in his life, the mafia would fail. Because Akutagawa and Chuuya aren't there. Not there to guide or help Dazai, and not there as a support to the rest of the mafia with their strength.
