Glad to hear that! That being said, SwissMicros does not lie about the DM32. Their business is to build faithful recreations of HP historical calculators (to the point where they don't want to make a DM48 based on my firmware because I'm not 100% compatible with the HP48). It's like when you go to a hommage concert, you know it's not the original artists. It's just that for the DM32, it's a hommage to a calculator that I find uninspiring personally.
@@christophe3d dm32 is too expensive to be just a hp32 replacement. I invested extreme early in the dm32 because I was under the expression they would build the ultimate calculator. Two shift keys, big display… bit now it evolved into a expensive brick
@@christophe3d If you want a faithful reproduction go to something like the HP15C Collector's Edition (worth it for the lovely manual alone!). SwissMicros already made so many improvements to the hardware (the vastly better display for example) that they may as well improve the firmware too! I prefer your philosophy of 'in the spirit of' i.e. evolving in the direction HP might have gone taking the same concepts forward as hardware became more capable. I still want a Voyager form factor, but with a fully graphical monochrome display filling the whole area above the keypad. That would allow a full row of 10 softkeys! I'd make it myself if I could find an LCD the right shape and size!
@@markusfischhaber8178 HP 50g/HP 48g was the correct combination of elegance, simplicity and technology, DM42/DM 32 doesn't come close to these masterpiece.Integral, Equation Solving and Matrices can be done better on new Casio Calculators than DM 42/DM 32.
great work sir, I was getting bored with the DM32 and now It's interesting again. 'History' navigation.. (2 pushes) need to move the cursor to beginning of word. I'll try to find the best place for this observation.
Hi @rainer4030, there was a bug like this in an earlier release (github.com/c3d/db48x/issues/955) but it was closed on 0.7.7. Can you confirm that you are still seeing the problem in a later release? The only way I could create something like this is with symbolic values, i.e. I can have -(-X)/Y which shows two minus signs. But that is intentional, or more precisely, it is a simplification that is not implemented yet.
I assume that you are on a DM32. There is an unresolved issue on this device, where the system dialog seems to be confused by the DB48X keymap. It's documented here: github.com/c3d/db48x/issues/1002. For now, the workaround is to not use the "New file", but to overwrite an existing file. The good news is that you can create the new file from the command line using "STO". For example, 42 "/state/savefile.48s" STO will create a file named "savefile.48s" in the "state" subdirectory (where the state save files are stored by default). Then you can use save to save the calculator's state in this file. Sorry for the bug, I'm working on it.
The browser version is a nice idea (while I save up for hardware!), but the click zones are misaligned with the key images (on my browser and screen resolution) making it very hard to use. Towards the bottom of the keyboard, you have to click right at the top of the key for it to register.
