Cheers Colman, very much appreciated, it was Shane that gave me the tip, saved looking for a tall press to take the shaft to bits. many thanks Barry

That went well Barry, a great tip from Shane. Watching this reminded me of when we were building the 90 & 94 series Tractor Cabs at Leigh, The early fixed frames for the glazing was made from a PVC type material which was quite soft but when we changed to a much better rubber frame they were difficult to fit and had to be heated in shallow tin baths full of hot water, this softened the rubber enabling it to be stretches around the glass panels and made it malleable enough to fit into the Cab and Door while it was still hot. Good luck with the reassembly into the Rear Axle Casing!

Cheers Terry, just waiting for the battery to charge so I can start the engine again, should have thought of that a week ago. many thanks Barry

Yay! It worked!! Yep, I do believe the grunts and groans are required when doing this o-ring stretching procedure. Thanks for the shoutouts and links!

Hi Shane, you get those grunts and groans free, once your past 64, I'm thinking of doing a dictionary of local terms and grunts as part of the 24 christmas special, thanks for the video clips Barry

Great video Barry. Very informative and clear. Provides lots of confidence to get stuck in yourself……… but maybe not on valve chest work just yet. Excellent as always.

Crack on Barry. Things are coming together nicely. Neat little trick, heating the O-ring like that. Simple but effective. I like that. Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰🔧🚜

Hi Barry, that is one hefty bit of kit, good luck with the fitting of it. I do like the way you introduce engineering terms - I haven't clagged anything for years now, perhaps I'll do some on the Fergy Another excellent vid mate, keep them coming!

Hi Ken, I love using the correct terminoligy, I'm thinking of publishing a dictionary of NE speak just to help those unfortunate soles not familiar with the jargin(northumbrian), lol your fegie will love you for it. many thanks Ken Barry

Good one on getting that O ring in. I used the winch on the Polaris round a pulley to get the rocker shaft in on my996. There is a lot of weight to move and with the valve chest able to rotate you will need 3 hands. I sure you will get it done. Good idea to use a levelling bar on your lifting device.M 😀

Hi Marshall, I'll be using the engine crane, also taking the offside wheel off for ease of access, Hopefully the next week and we'll get it in out the way, Cheers Marshall Barry

Another top class video Barry. Just as an option maybe to think about. When I re-installed my own valve chest I wasn't keen to have the right hand casing sort of dangling on the end of the rock shaft - it seemed to me it would put a lot of twist on the thin bearing in that housing.. Also it's a big old heavy set of metal and with that quadrant lever shaft quite delicate I didn't want to risk swinging the weight of the rock shaft around as I tried to line up that quadrant lever shaft to fit through the axle casing - if it gets bent it would ruin all the settings for the quadrant lever controls. I had no way to support that casing at the same time as supporting the main weight of the shaft. And its pretty easy to fit the valve chest housing in place first with the height/depth push rods in place and just the cam to fit on the studs, so I opted to fit the rocker shaft back in once the casing was in place. Just need to leave the bolts loose to angle the shaft in place to the bearing housing. Just something to consider but coming along nicely. Never knew my hydraulics relied on the donkey dick!

Cheers Andy, that was the original plan, but others where saying they had trouble getting the shaft in afterwards, but I might try thst first, it might work as the back of the tractor is fairly well open, If it fails it's not such a big job to whip it back out and put in on the shaft, all options open, many thanks Barry

With the back of the tractor in normal set up there can be a load of things in the way - the seat, the PTO high/low shift, hydraulics pipes, the top sensor and so forth. But as stripped down as you have it then it's really easy to install the valve chest housing, leave the bolts loose, and then get that cross shaft installed without risking the bearing damage or the quadrant lever shaft damage. Anyway all a personal choice and depends a lot on what lifting gear you have to stabilise everything for the re-assembly. My wife was my only possible assistance on this and she said "forget it" so that was my limiting factor - keep up the great work - will help so many DB owners for years to come!! @@manfromthemist1958

Barry brilliant have the same problem with the same o ring on my little 885 who wouid of thought it wouid stretch over that casting not quite the job I thought it was going to be I may stop putting it of now and give it a go cheers Shane and barry

Hi Adam, must admit, I wouldn't have tried it if Shane hadn't told me he was successfull with it, as it's a long way to stretch an Oring, really supirsed it went on so well and regained it's OD. big shout oput to Shane for trying many thanks Barry
