Yes it was made special for DBN, but it was a good few years ago and I cant remember which company made it for us, sorry.

Hi Eric, I use 25mm depth for my Musket units and Jager Units and 30mm for my LI, all as per DBN version 2.1

Yes, because of the ground scale and with DBN you will find it is mutually beneficial to pre-measure.

@@DBNwargaming Why not play a hex-based game? It sounds like you are doing that but not doing that. The formations are artificial, your pre-measurement is artificial. You are faking minature wargaming with boardgame rules. Just play a boardgame. Even your bases do not give a good visual representation of the battle. Oh, And I will not find it beneficial to pre-measure against the enemy's firing range because I will not be playing such a poor rules set. I will stick with good miniatures wargaming rules.

@@MegaParillo Thanks for your permission to not play a poor rules set. That is a comfort to me. I don't play Stratego either, because it is also a poor game. DBx rules are not miniature wargame rules. Look at any DBx game presented on-line: units blocked up absolutely side-by-side to benefit from the artificial rules that end up looking like no battle that ever happened in history. That is a big sign of a poor set of rules for a supposed wargame. Warhammer rules are also shit, but at least their miniatures look good.

Large bases would make no difference to the rules or how the game played. The only golden rule is that all base frontages have to be the same. The ground scale increases with the base frontage e.g. with a 40mm base frontage the ground scale is 25mm (1") = 100 paces. With 60mm frontage 40mm = 100 paces. The 12 point game would be played on a 60cm x 60cm with 40mm frontage and 90cm x (0cm with a 60mm frontage. Simples ! Hope that helps

It almost feels like there should be a withdrawl option that only uses a pip. The austrians pull back all their cavalry behind their infantry on the left hill and there lights behind the occupied building.

Hi, DBN is played in a 'grand tactical scale' therefore in this particular game, one infantry unit represents a Brigade sized force of 2000 - 2400 troops. Equally it could be played where the unit represents a Battalion of 600 - 800 troops. DBN easily offers this flexibility, the main point here is that one 'base' is one unit.

Sorry, I mean miniature figure scale. I have 1/72 napoleonic figures.
