It's amazing the attention this is getting and so I'm glad to annouce I will bring you guys more interviews just like this one, so stay tuned to the channel and in the mean time check out all the cool DB stuff I buy and review!
Yeah thanks for this this guy is a great voice actor doesn't get enough credit for all the voice acted everything from Dragon Ball Z to Yugioh GX as far as I know but I bet you was done more than that this guy is very talented thank put this up there
He also voiced Dr crowler in Yugioh GX I most people are probably not aware of that I just found out while back the guy has talent voice acting that's for sure
Me too man, like the japanese voice of goku she's pretty old so hopefully sean sticks around for years to come. its amazing that toriyama created such a timeless anime that we all still enjoy to this day.
Nah. He's an ok Gokû, I guess, but Masako Nozawa, Peter Kelamis, Patrick Borg or even MasakoX are way, way better. That being said, Sean Schemmel seems to be a really nice guy.
I actually met Sean at a comic con for my birthday. it was an amazing experience to see him up close. I was waiting in line while he was signing autographs. I got pictures with him and gave him my drawings that I made for him. when he saw my drawing, he legitimately did the Goku voice, I was shaking with excitement. damn, that was a good day
Ikari Jiren I met him like a year or so ago and told him he was the coolest person alive. His response was: "Um, but what about Prince? Oh, wait he's dead. So, yeah I guess I am the coolest person alive."
"I hope I did it right" I'll put a picture of Sean Schemmel when I grow up on my desk so my children and grandchildren ask me "Who's this guy ?" and I'll answer "Some of the few people who actually did it right" *tears of nostalgia*
he may be goku but he doesn't understand that akira isn't really writing super....in fact no one is..its a toei thing mostly..the manga is coming after so that's why it feels like no story and everything goes back to normal..cause its basically modern gt...a bunch of random arcs ..ironic isn't it?..
its scary as fuck...it topped even lindas freeza cooks super buu and sabats king piccolo..its that frightening...and I its hard to surpass those for me...he really nailed it..
Tbh the 1st time I actually did not know Goku black and Goku have the same VA I thought someone like copy's the voice of Sean but make it more evil sounds
dmario washington Most of the Japanese VA in general... But for dub... I prefer Chris over Sean... Haberkorn is great.. Bosch, briner, Trina and Caitlin glass are all amazing for English dub too.. (I prefer sub) . Just for animation in general there's Hamill, Conroy, Cullen Hammond and Tara.
I think Sean is really going to enjoy doing the Tournament of Power. And I think he'll especially like Ultra Instinct Goku. Not only voicing him, but just as a character because it's something different. I can't wait to see what they do.
Ive always loved Sean he does his job so well. This video makes me wanna meet him more. It makes me happy how he like, so passionately understands the show too
I will not dislike as he is the one who is my motivation to keep increasing my power further beyond but Don’t expect me to like 😒😏.Kakarot is naive and Why will I like the video featuring him
I met him a few months ago at a comic con, he's such and amazing and fun loving guy. He's really down to earth and just really happy to see all these people line up for hours on end just to get a picture or his autograph and see what an impact he has made in all our lives.
Voice acting is probably one of the coolest fucking jobs to exist. I wish I had some talent, I would totally change career goals to voice act in something that people connect too if I had what it took. Sadly I'm no Sean, Chris, or any amazing voice actor that exists.
Man, you can be a voice actor. Buy yourself some mic, find some room and start practising. But watch out, you should take some clases on how to scream etc. You can lose your voice if you scream too much.
My dudes, I am proud to say I met Sean in person, shook hands with him, got his autograph n pic and actually told him how much I loved Goku black!!! He told he appreciated it and told me he worked very hard on Black's voice. Sean is my hero 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sean Schemmel is my favorite voice for any cartoon. Goku sounds so bad ass. Its so powerful and fits Goku so well. I don't know the Japanese voice actor for Goku, but Sean stays true to the laugh and a lot of her voice idiosyncrasies. I'm just glad Sean is as excited about the continuation of the Dragon Ball series as any of us fans. He certainly showed his fan colors towards the end of the interview and I seen him on youtube at the comic cons as much a fan as the fans. I truly believe Sean Schemmel's voice for Goku made the Dragon Ball Verse here in America as big as it is today.
Sean shemmel, has been an amazing, voice actor, people person, etc. I just love Sean shemmel. I just respect him so much not only as a voice actor for goku, king Kai, etc. but as a person. I really ❤️ his personality, and his sense of humor, from what I could gather, he seems to be a really outstanding kinda person. 😘
Sean is truly unaware of just how many hugs, high fives and bro fists hed get from EVERY fan of DB ever lol He clearly knows how most felt about the Goku Black voice from Xenoverse 2 and you can clearly see how bad he felt about that, its awesome to see actors put such passion forth for the craft and the fans. We love ya Sean and everyone else on the English Dub cast! :D
No One First time I heard the original Japanese I absolutely hated it, especially Goku, but after I had to listen to it for DBS when I got ahead of the dub, I got used to it and I don’t really mind it. The Funimation dub and the DBZ faulconer music are still my favorite by far but I love both
Seans definition of Zeno and Goku's relationship is exactly what I was always thinking. Goku says "Zenchan" where everyone else only says Zeno Sama. BFF'S!
Yeah. It's really sad, looking back, how Sean was chased off Social Media for his take on Goku Black in XenoVerse JUST cause of the audience's ignorance. This is why I have a "love/hate" relationship with the fandom. It's toxic af. But also, probably one of the most supportive. I mean, Vic Mignogna was in a similar situation after he told his fans that he was Christian and believed in God etc. People just instantly assumed that he was a homophobe cause of this and there was this whole "Boycott Vic Mignogna" movement when he was going to play a Gay character... English Dub Anime Fandom is Cancerously Toxic
I hope he never stops doing Goku. I've been watching since it first aired in the US! Used to watch it growing up at dinner everyday for YEARS. Huge fan!!! They did amazing with super. I hope they do more!!
Whitney Sharpe what time did you eat dinner? Jesus hahahah. My mom used to lick me up from elementary and I’d get home at 3:58ish and turn on Toonami and watch most if not all the shows in the 2 hour block.
Whitney Sharpe well shit at least you had a full stomach while enjoying the greatest anime of all time hahaha. I’m guessing you’re on the east coast then?
I came SO CLOSE to meeting him at a Con a couple months ago, but didn't due to a relative needing to leave at a specific time and she was my only way home.
@Slim Reaper Some people don't like Sean's opinions and how blunt he is when it comes certain topics. He also got some kind of ego at times according to some people. In other words, he's human with issues like the rest of us.
I love this guy insane talent literally made my childhood better I love his view on voice acting too he does 3 character 2 of them are goku but he makes them sound and seem different which is the exactly what was needed
You hope you did it good? My guy...there is nobody on the face of the planet that can do goku's voice like you can. I think I speak for most people when I say that you have done the very best that ever could or would be done. There's no words strong enough to say how excellent you are at voicing goku. So thank you for all of your hard work and dedication that brought us here in the USA the greatest anime of all time. Goku's battle cry is absolutely epic and all inspiring. Thank you again.
@@verycoaljohn4890 The classic, other coworkers in FUNimation and himself included make accusation towards the original voice actor for Broly, or better known as the voice actor for Edward Elric in Full Metal Alchemist, which claimed that he was sexually harassing women in the workplace as well as some other things. Sean made accusations with no proof of it and technically the woman who made the claims didn't have any proof either she just said he did it which was proven false. Sean and some others just bandwagoned on and were like "yeah he did do it" for whatever reason they did it for. Either way Vic (the VA for Broly/Edward) got fired and is working for other companies now. The MC of Bleach voices Broly now.
Sean Schemmel has evolved into Sean Soy-mmel But it's really a shame, or for me at least because i loved him as adult Goku. I grew up with listening him as the tenacious super sayian ever since the Namek Saga (and DBZ games) because I missed out on the Ocean dub during the Saiyan sage. But as much as a douche as he has became in a single month...you got to admit, the guy has perfect lungs for a super saiyan...that Super Saiyan 3 scream is the stuff of legends...
@@chrisdrivesasubaru457 lets just say he basically became rude and just an immature person because he insulted and stabbed Vic in the back without proof if Vic actually did do the stuff people claim he did. It is really a shame since he one of the pillars of my childhood. Also now for some reason he is now just rude to his fans now and I don't know why he became like this suddenly since he was a down to earth guy before. And sorry for this very long comment lol
Dragon ball wouldnt have been possibke without Sean Schemmel and I hope to keep on hearing the voices of sll the Z fighters and villains to keep on giving everyone the thrill of excitement
Goku hitting his head has little to do with his childlike state. He was raised outside civilization not knowing the evil of mankind or the allure that comes with living your life around others. That and his grandfather taught him to be kind and pure. The hit on the head just knocked out the vicious nature of his saiyan genetics.
He would’ve destroyed the inhabitants of Earth and fallen into Frieza’s clutches. Eventually he’d either die in a revolt along with Vegeta and the other saiyans or remain a high ranked underling. I’d say the bump on the head had a great deal to do with his character and state of mind.
The pod "programmed"/"brainwashed" him with the mission to destroy the population of Earth the entire time of the journey while he was traveling to Earth. So yea, the bump on his head DID help knock out some of that "evil" programming. He was still affected by the pod even if raised outside the civilization and not interacting with his fellow Saiyans. It's still a major plot point of the early DBZ show that still holds, lol. You're forgetting how the pod brainwashes/programs the babies to follow their mission (kill all life capable of resistance on whatever planet they are being sent to) and instill destructive tendencies in them if not already present.
Besides what everyone else has said, I will just add that you seem a but confused. Or, you were just ranting at that point. Anyway, yeahhh, "mankind" in Dragon Ball isn't really the same "mankind" of the real world. Hell, or even the other, worse versions of humankind in the countless other forms of pop-culture throughout recent history. So, this 'evil' aspect that you reference is very, very, VERY limited. And, I only give you some slack because Krillin IS a cop, and WAS shown taking out two bank robbers. It was rather pathetic though, and was not nearly as 'evil'. Keep in mind, though, that I speak from only what I have seen throughout the years from the Dragon Ball franchise. HELL, as a matter of fact, more often than not, Mankind and the other lifeforms that live on DB's earth are shown as the aloof, goofy, almost happy-go-lucky VICTIMS. lol
The way that he describes goku in this kinda makes me feel sympathetic to him. He plays a character that undergoes practically no change. How sad Is that. Imagine being your same 10 year old self for 18 years
Every character in every show that doesnt have continuity (The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc..) doesnt change, so its not a bad thing at all. In fact, its pretty normal stuff
I don’t know why people say Goku doesn’t have development. It is just bad writing in Super. In Z he had development that in Super they choose to ignore and regressed his character. Even in classic Dragon Ball he had major development. Toriyama can’t complain when he himself couldn’t portray Goku like he “ wanted” . In Z he goes from wanting to fight to pass the torch to the new generation and being a master. Now in Super they just make him stupid just for comedy purposes.
@@baddestislandgal5744 that's not true at all. Goku's personality and behavior has not really changed at all. He's usually goofy and oblivious (this is especially true when he's in the Kais' world) but gets serious in battle and always enjoys the thrill of it. If you think otherwise, then you're just one of those people who hates on super for no good reason.
Sonicfan640 Where do I say I hate Super ? You must likely are one of those who knew about Dragon Ball because of Super. I clearly stated that they have regressed his development, something they did. I didn’t talk about his personality. At least between Cell saga and Buu saga he wanted to train the new generation and pass the torch and in Super he is annoying and only wants to fight even a bug. Sure he was goofy and naive, but not an completely idiot as in Super. By reading the manga or any anime version of DBZ that is not the english dub, DBZ Goku and Super Goku are two complete different people. I have seen the movie and this Goku is the Goku of DBZ, a goofy and naive Goku. The Goku of Super would act differently towards Broly. That’s why I said in Super they have bad writing and they sure do.
geekdom101 and other tubers gonna be quick to try and get an interview with this dude so this video won't become as popular. watch it happen :( nice video and interview.
Dude, Geek already had a Schemmel interview video recently, lol. He's just been waiting to release part 2. Part 1 was pretty darn recent already. He already landed the interview and recorded it well before this, so your comment likes kind of funny given that information ;)
As much as i hate Sean I must say he is an amazing VA and the perfect choice for Goku. I did grow up with Sean but I quit liking him after the Vic mignogna situation but I do still think he should keep voicing Goku.
