I still to this day randomly say Mahogany and laugh to myself. Anyone even mentions Mahogany I think of this and laugh. Do not underestimate how brilliant that was.
As a selfish fan, I constantly hope these series will come back someday. Meanwhile, I can only support them by rewatching all the seasons once or twice every year.
Hey if that creative spark comes back in full, and it's able to carry them all the way through the buu ark, that would be great. It's unlikely yeah, but it's a hope I hold onto
I love that they think “oh I’ve grown as an artist, and the best way to display that growth is to mock and alienate the people who connect to my art” 😊
@@nateh9764 How are you reaching that conclusion? They're pointing out their own errors and giving us background info on how they decided to put the parody show together. How/When are you feeling mocked and alienated by them?
@@DracoInduperator It wasn't, I even had to go back to watch their episode 8-9 commentary again thinking I missed it. This totally threw me off but everything has to go Super Meta now
Yeah, tien and yamcha’s dynamic had to be one of my favorites. Two assholes that are friends because they both are weak, otherwise they wouldn’t care enough I mean they are strong for humans but still
You all and Taka have every right to be proud of Nappa. Him and Nail sticking around in Piccolo's head are probably my favorite things you changed from DBZ.
It really helps sell the feeling of it being a forbidden technique, absorbing other Namekians. Because he keeps talking to himself, and making other people frightened/uncomfortable/confused, it's great
@@phreak811 I feel that's particularly relevant to this Vegeta scene, because we all know that he was thinking "I traded Nappa for this?" when he screamed.
MsDBZbabe did a short animation of that scene where there is literally gumdrops and ice cream inside there. Video title is exactly what you think it is.
That first Yamaha death absolutely ruined me as a teenager. I had a anxiety attack because I couldn’t breathe from how hard I was laughing. The quick edit before his scream just cut to my core. You guys are awesome. Made my favorite show as a kid into something more. Thank you.
I grew up with DBZA :) thank you for taking over of my favorite shows, making it a million times better, and bringing it back for nostalgia commentary.
I wonder if I’m the only one that realizes that the joke of Nappa Going to college to study “Child Psychology, With a (minor, as a noun) in pain” is a double whammy 🤣
I was introduced to this series watching the season 1 finale and I got hooked. Tried getting my friends into it by starting them from the beginning; it really turned them off to the series even though I told it only gets better. Should have started them on the Frezia saga.
@@theq86 Honestly, starting on Frieza Saga is appropriate: I came into DBZ somewhere on Namek, and I'd imagine plenty of folks did, too. There's always Season 1 Kai to get 'em up to speed otherwise.
4:11 There are abilities that can change the type of normal type moves (pixilate, refrigerate, maybe others, I'm not sure), so headbutt actually CAN be super effective.
It's so hard for me to get past the first 10 seconds, hits so hard and is so funny, after being a fan since the beginning and hearing Nick say that kaisers reaction was the perfect response, still can't wait for the future of your guys' channel
Yeah, season 1 was ROUGH. They said before, while the show was still going, that they'd totally remake it. BUUUUT after having this account be slammed with copyright flags multiple times; they decided it against it. That's also half the reason why the show ended to begin with, aside from burnout and the Buu Saga sucking.
I still remember first being introduced to the series by a friend through 4th and 5th grade in 2011/2012 Not even sure if the cell saga had began yet, i just remember the first time that i finally found the channel and decided it o subscribe around the first few weeks of middle school was when j was there for the first time a new episode dropped Forgot the episode but it was around the time 17, and 18 were chilling on the mountain side My dad was already on my case for not doing well in school on my first weeks in, my sister scolding me for watching abridged instead of studying, and i was just feeling confused and alone due to middle school not being ehat I thought it’d be and most of my friends being in a separate school than me Watching abridged back then completely new for the first times was one of those anchors that reminded me of a constant that was once in my life, and of the passing of time on how things move on. It makes it all the more wild that the series later ended when i was in about 11th grade right around the time of my birthday. I’m 21 now, but its wild to sit back and remember how long of a journey this all was for not just me, but EVERYONE involved in the watching AND making of this amazing series
In all honesty. Y'all did an amazing job with these series. To this day I say DBZA is better than the original DBZ. All the filler taken out, adult jokes, clever references, clever script writing, the character development, the voices are done really well, and everything else. This was a masterpiece. Also Hellsing abridged, and attack on Titan abridged were equally well done. I really mean this. Well done fellas.
It’s amazing to see how they’ve grown, like Lani doing picallo’s voice now compared to then and you can hear the evolution, same with Popo. Man I couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve rewatched the abridged series, far more than the actual show/manga and I do love that but dbza has a special place in my heart. I am glad Lani made the comment about the reaction videos though because I was wondering why I was seeing “old reactions” to like episode one and wasn’t till I saw I couple I noticed they were brand new. Hope this renewed interest maybe brings the guys back into the fold for the buu saga, I know they could do it!
"WE GET YOU'RE FROM SPACE" Just wait for season 2&3 with all the "space Dennys, space milk, space radio shack, spaceys" My favorite is Spaceys, the space equivalent of Sonic and I LOVE IT!
Im so glad you're doing commentary on seasons! I remember the rewatch marathon a few years back but I really love you guys doing a commentary video in general. Very fun
Discovered DBZA in 2017 by a roommate with shared interests. She used the "Best of" character compilations. Been a DBZ fan since 99, so I immediately understood what you guys were doing, and was all about it. Early season awkwardness is to be expected, I had already seen that it would get better.
Was always wondering what the fuss was about. DBZA didn't disappoint. The whole series except episode 60 were released, so no waiting. Pure awesomeness
I want to just say this, I joined the DBZA community around the beginning of the Cell Arc, I got all caught up that very day/night I found this channel, all the movies and episodes got watched in one sitting and since that point in time I became a DBZA junkie and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I listen to it to fall asleep almost every night (I still fucking do and I’m 23 now) cause you guys got me through a rough time back when you were still uploading episodes (even though it felt like years between episodes towards the end) but I couldn’t wait for the next upload cause it was able to take me away from reality and that’s what I needed and you guys through this simple act of creating something you love, have helped me and I have no doubt has helped many others laugh and get through a tough time in their lives, I just felt like that needed to be said its a bit long but oh well fuck off xx
I was 5 when y’all started found it at 8 Been watching this for 12 years now 20 (Girlfriend hates that I say all the lines) This is now my comfort show
Thanks for making all episodes. I've been around since close to the start. It's been a huge pleasure to watch all the seasons you made. This was fun to watch, you watching your own creation!
I’m watching the commentary with them live, but I still get the urge to rewatch the series ever time. Such fond memories, such a fun series! And its great learning even more BTS about the production that despite after all this time offers so much info
I was in 6th grade when I first found you guys. There were like maybe 4 episodes out at that time .... I've been finished with college for about 3 years now. Time really flies
Wether you laugh or cringe at this, this show is a milestone in its own right! Taking the masterpiece that is Dragonball, Z, Super etc. and remaking it to its own identity is in many ways a nod to the old and intro to the new. This has given me so many laughs - even when I didn’t want to - and has inspired MANY other abridged series of anime and it wouldn’t be here without you!! So thank you Team Four Star for everything you given, it’s great to see you again!
Thank you guy's. I have quoted you daily for years now. My lady actually watched abridged before the series and is now a DBZ fan. Someone that never would have watched the actual show love's it now, I thank you guy's with all my heart!
Y'all got me through some hard times in highschool. I got my brother and friend addicted to the show and we would quote it at work all the time. Killian count and Killian plays are the best things ever
Really is nice to see these commentary guys. Also, it's funny hearing Lani talking about reactions to DBZA. I started watching some new reactions after this commentary started, and I've seen Lani comment on several of them 😄
You guys made a masterpiece 👏 thanks for all your hard work. Truly watching dbz abridged was one of the best moments of my life and you made it better than the original in my opinion.
The editing for the ad add-in was superb. Only of the very few, if not only the crew that actually makes people not hate to watch the ad plug-ins or actively want to watch the ads. Love y'all.
Odd I was just randomly reading that TFS has talked about not liking their first episode (on TV tropes) and then they released this video a few minutes later where they are doing just that
roflmao, greatest advertising break ever. bahhaha. yall have brought so many people so much joy and comedy entertainment. i really want to thank you for all the hard work your team has done over the year. and from the the center of my heart. thank you.
I happened upon your content just the other day. I had no idea this wealth of nostalgia and parody was here. I just finished S1 and my nineties kid soul is very happy. Looking forward to watching literally everything. Piccoyoshi and Ghost Nappa killed me...
Thank you guys for the immense amount of your lives you gave us. Just to breathe new life into a show we love. How does it feel to know that somewhere someone is trying to watch DBZ and all that's in their head is your dubs. Did any of the cast ever give you guys respect foreign or domestic?
I was in Jr. High, or Middle School I guess, when I got into DBZA. It’s what got me into DBZ, I missed everything growing up for some reason, but from 8th grade all ‘til the end of the series, I was die hard and even to this day, repeat lines from this series. I can proudly say now “I am an adult”.
Now I need a version of episode 9 with this addition edited in without Kaiser and Lani's responses Just piccolo Staring in silence occasionally responding, to no one only his side of the conversation
I've probably watched this series over many times and I never quite caught the "arm doesn't bend that way." bit. You really learn something new everyday.
I get the same excitement seeing these commentaries as I do for actual new episodes and HFIL. And DragonShortZ, but that’s in development hell right now due to tech issues.
I didn’t start watching TFS until like 2012-2013 when I started middle school but I was born in october 2000. I started watching right when they released the Vegeta vs Android 19 episode (47??) but I’ve been watching and loving it all since then XD
This is gold and I love that we got Lanipator and KaiserNeko reaction and saying on what went on in the DBZA series. This is a start of something amazing. I miss this series
Been subbed since like episode 20. Yall are probably my first sub. Glad to see yall still hanging arouund. I remember when i first saw yall. Episode 6 had just came out. Yall did a great thing here. I really believe yall are the reason DB Kai exist. (Dont worry i dont blame yall for it) I hope yall will pick this back up again. 60+ episode was not enough!
I discovered dbz abridged after it concluded and never had to wait for an episode lol, god it elevates the material so much, handling material better than the original
From its first episode to its last, Dragon Ball Z Abridged is a masterpiece in showing what fans of a franchise can achieve with enough creativity and dedication! Thank you TeamFourStar! You've inspired me to be kind and forgiving like Goku, a good role model for other people's children like Piccolo, and to always remember the Shamoian safe word, "broccoli".
Naw. This show was peak from beginning to end. The gradual growth throughout the series was what really made it amazing. Thank you for all the memories.
