The implications of this Overvoid is DC's out of jail card when they want to expand their universe. This could be the blueprint for a whole lot more than 52 universes and maybe even franchise-warping crossovers.
The Overvoid concept opens up a potential crossover into ANY story ever told. That hints the Marvel-DC crossover event that is supposed to happen. I believe that will happen when Marvel has something like a "crisis" event.
@@koasu1095 But not just Comics but Everything in general like books and anime and video games and much more so it makes sense WE are the ones with infinite possibilities and we are the reason why everything does not end.
@@normandy2501 if you could define it by what you understand then it wouldn’t be God. Everything has a Creator..only beings that have been created think that way. Everything started somewhere, somehow, except God, that is the definition of the title. God-that which has no beginning or end.
@@normandy2501 Let me explain it a bit more since I've brought this idea since a child, the void is a representation of the highest idea we sentient beings we can have even tho calling it void is not accurate and it's accurate, this "place" is supposed to be existance and its opposite would be nonexistence, the imaginable and the unimaginable. Now we will never know if there's a beyond that or not, since it would stand behind everything and nothing. Anyways, everything that is real or you can imagine is creation, is existance, but what's the unimaginable doesn't cross with us because isn't meant to (probably we would blow up or something if so) now neither we know what's on this side but still is part of this "void" and there's supposed to be some kind of bridge between the two but it's without the presence of each other, so it's like a mutual feed. So basically yeah, if there's a god is just a step higher than us but not the top, there might be a huge line before getting there. Btw I'm a philosopher and have a quite complicated mind that got me to discover this thoughts in first place so I'm not speaking some random bullshit, so hope that helped you understand the concept more
Grant Morrison is a mixed bag for me. Great storytelling and characters but I agree with you to some degree. Sometimes his meta textual commentary just gets in the way, making rereads more work than they should be. That being said, his Kid Eternity run was pretty solid and I have a soft spot for his run on Animal Man.
The 52 thing comes from 2006 where there a weekly run for a full year of one-shots featuring supporting characters only (52 weeks in a year). This was to account for there being a year-long gap in the timeline after Infinite Crisis without the major players, and this explains what went on during that period. This is also where the "New 52" got it's name, and where the idea of 52 universes came from.

Rob, I think your mind and imagination is just like the great Jack Kirby and stan lee. Your love and knowledge for comics is unrivaled!! Comics is a dying topic and ( for me) you keep it alive and breathing. My hat goes off to you and your crew. Bravo my friend, bravo👏👏👏👏
Even following this explanation, there is still something I don't understand - If the Overvoid represents imagination, then this guy the Chronicler either sits beyond the Overvoid (which would seemingly be impossible and not make any sense) or travels freely throughout the Overvoid. If he travels freely throughout the overvoid, that means he can exist in any and all other multiverses, so theoretically he exists with Marvel, or at least can visit the Marvel multiverse. Further to this, it also means that if I create a story of my own, it would exist within the omniverse, and as a result the Chronicler can visit it. At this point, one of two things happens. Either I have the power to write the role of the Chronicler within my universe as I see fit, in which case I can erase him from existence, or he cannot be controlled this way, which makes no sense either. Can someone clear this up for me?
@@disposable_hero1725 believe it or not ppl don’t know there’s another version When I’ve said Superman prime They think Superman prime one million lol And I’d like to see him vs RKT But strange visitor Superman VS RKT Is the fight to make..
The repetitive use of 52 correlates with there being 52 weeks in a Year/Publishing Year idk who talked about it a while ago when they were going into the New 52 might of been G.Johns
In terms of the Overvoid or Canvas... It (the idea, not the Canvas) is a collection of Metaverses, Omnivores, Multiverses, or any scale of level You can think of. Imagination just give all of it power.
the overvoid is the black sheet of paper from which the writer (aka the presence.) made dc own. now as for his size, well you see first you have a universe, with galaxies solar systems and what not in it. now you have a multiverse, a endless versions of that one universe, but where the people from that universe had different choices in life. like for instant, what if batman decided to become a cop instead of becoming batman. that right there is what the multiverse in DC comics, you flip a coin and two alternate universes are created. after that you have what's called a megaverse, which in the case is the regular Multiverse, the dark multiverse and the antimatter universe. aka multiverses... and a single universe, that operates so different to the main multiverse that they can not be counted in the regular universes. then you have a omniverse, which are megaverses, multiverses and universes that has nothing to do with one another. which in this case is like the scooby-doo stories, loony toons and so on that DC publesh. now beyond that you have what is called a hyperverse, which are planes of existence and dimensions that are too high up for them to be accounted in any thing else other than themselves. finally the overvoid is what all this is built on, as it is infinitely larger than infinity.
The Overvoid is the black sheet of paper? Don't you mean the white sheet of paper? As as I'm aware of, Scott Snyder's version of the Overvoid isn't meta at all, where it is the canvas for fictional work. How is The Presence the writer?
I've always assumed DC chose the number 52 to be their special number because there are 52 weeks in a year (which probably has something to do with how they release comics, since it's usually a weekly thing).
Yeah I always thought as much, the Overvoid is more of a concept than an actual being, but I keep seeing people trying to interpret him as a character so they can rank his power in comparison to the Presence or TOAA, so stupid.

I won't lie, when I try and think of how big that 'Gate'-looking thing on the actual Overvoid page (that is what we see at the start of 12:06) must be in scale, I struggle to imagine something that impossibly huge. And it looks like something you really could just enter or exit like any gate. And yet I get the distinct impression that that isn't a 'gate' as I would know it.
Problem is this overvoid is still not explained more. Because the Hands or Supercelestials create Multiverses so they are from the Omniverse. And then you have that recorder guy who records Multiverse stories as they collapse. Let's also not forget that The Source is over the Hands and the Source is heavily applied to be the Presence. I know people will disagree but I think it goes Presence > The Hands > Overvoid > Multiversal Beings The overvoid is a canvas the Hands create multiverses on using the power gifted from the Source @Comics Explained
It's okay if it's a lot of speculation Rob, the reason we enjoy Grant Morrison's writing is because he's completely fucking insane in a bizarrely wholesome way

X of Swords, X of Swords, X of Swords. I feel like I have upset you with this Rob, that is not my intent. You are the only RU-vidr that I consistently look for. Please take that as the compliment I mean it to be.
It's pretty clear it's not meant to be inclusive of DC only, it's meant for all imaginative creation culminating in the interaction of ink and paper. IMO, it's the best explanation for all fiction to be in 'one' place. Nothing confusing about that. Yes, Marvel is included as well.
*Overvoid, shows up in his skintight outfit, makes a big show of it* *goes back home* *unzips, completely letting himself go* *lounges in his Easy Chair, put his feet up, and continues reading his Omniverse*
You don't think Alice in Wonderland has a multiverse? So the Disney animated film, the live action Johny Depp movie, the Whoopi Goldberg TV mini-series, and the original novel all exist in a single continuity?

It's obvious the White Space is the literal blank page of paper yet to be filled with Comicbook art but that's also one of many ways to interpret "White Space"
I don't know if this was done, but DC could've just written on the covers of their comics the Earth it exists in. So when you pick up a book of the Crime Syndicate, it would say on the cover Earth 3, and if you picked up a book of Flash of Two Worlds, it would say Earth 1 and Earth 2. But besides that, very imformative video. Keep up the great work.
Batman who laughs: "💁♂️👀 🤡 Prepare to have your ancient ass taken b**** because them cheeks about to get clap clapped" Perpetua: You evil creature I'm older than you. *proceeds to destroy entire universe full of hope*
First of all... should have tried to use Fringe for an example. Second of all... Even though it may not be an alternate timeline type universe, the regular World England the Alice traveled from and Wonderland that she traveled to... Could easily be separate universes. Get with the greater understanding of quantum fractal Dynamics Rob
So I'm just finding out that aside from the presence there are a lot of figures that could beat him such as Pralaya, Perpetua, The Source, the Empty Hand, and now the Overview. Will someone just give me a definitive answer as to who the most powerful character is?
@_oblivion_ I mean the presence is the definitive most powerful so of course they're below, but who's the most powerful aside from him? Also not including Elaine Belloc since she was basically as poweful as the presence. I also learned about the endless recently but not sure where they scale. There's also Lucifer Morningstar and the monitors as well as Meshta, the great evil beast, and Rama Kushna
There is technically an Alice in Wonderland Multiverse, not by one creator no, but by the many different versions that have sprung up Since Lewis Carrol's version, there is the Disney Version, the Live-Action Version, the Once Upon a Time in Wonderland version, there's the Syfy Miniseries version, there's the American McGee version, there's even the JAGs Wonderland TTRPG version, and probably even more that I don't know about.
So this Character literally knows everybody from Comics, Video games, Anime, Books and etc, and pretty much sees everything in existence and is responsible for it too. Dam that's crazy.......
Not everything. He explores them but hasn't been to them all. This is his first time ever seeing Dc comics after all. Think of it this way. Imagine being in a library, you have access to all the books but haven't read them all
Dumb people. Also, Marvel and DC don't hate each other. Typically fans are fans of both. Disney has ruined Marvel for me, and I've also avoided DC for most of my life. For the most part. But now I love DC comics and don't even wanna read any Marvel comics other than Jonathan Hickman's stuff or whatever Rob recommends, if I read more good things about it.
It's so odd watching this video and learning about this concept for the first time. Last weekend I had a very weird dream that I was part of a team who explores different realities and multiverses. Someone had stolen the device I use to jump in between universes. Luckily there was natural portals you could access if you know where to look. I ended up in a universe that I called "the angry simpson universe" It was full of discarded simpson characters that the writers had thought up and/or designed but never made it to the show. They had to live their life in this world and they were full of hatred, especially towards the simpsons. weird....
So based on that assessment this being sent there to record their history should arguably be on a power level that would exceed even the gods of an given multiverse correct?
Not neccessarily. Generally speaking, yes, but It's not entirely uncommon for someone to step up from their plane of existence and over power someone at that higher plane. Al a Superboy Prime beating the crap out of Myxlptylyx.
I think you go to the afterlife you believe in or to the one you have connection with, for example, gamma affected people go to "the below place" while Jane Foster was welcomed to Valhalla when she died, and you go to a Hell if you made a deal with Mephisto etc.
What if Ra's al Ghul got the Ten Rings What if Dr. Fate became the Sorcerer Supreme What if Darkseid got the Cosmic Cube What if Ultron invaded the DC Universe What if Deadpool got the Mask What if Thanos fought the Justice League What if Darkseid fought The Avengers. What if Thanos got the Anti-Life Equation What if Shang-Chi was the Iron Fist What if Superman landed in Asguard What if the Batman Who Laughs invaded the Marvel Universe
Chronicler is essentially the second strongest possible being besides the literal writer itself. He claims to have beheld multiple stories meaning he has seen and oversaw other multiverses besides DC. He speaks lightly of and categorizes beings like Perpetua as if they were breed of puppies. Nonchalantly resurrects A dude whose chair was used to amp up the batman who laughs. Where do you possibly go from here exactly?
*Insert another comment which isn't about the video or its quality, but only about who should have a Beyond Omega Level video, here.* Welcome to RU-vid, where people don't care about what they see.
