DC Rebirth: Aquaman Rebirth #1

I've always liked Aquaman, especially the nineties and new version of him. I learned to spearfish when I was six, and back then, although his character wasn't "hero"ish, the concept of him made it easier for I to fish at night beyond the reef. I didn't feel the same about Namor because back then, he was alway a bully type of character and there was more than enough of them in the waters.

Aquaman is my favorite I'm so glad you're doing this! Finally finally thank you even if it doesn't stick but I hope it dose!

For 20+ years I had always thought Aquaman was a joke, but as time goes on I have come to view him as one of the top members of the Justice League.

I would love it if you kept doing Aquaman stories he's one of my favorite super heroes.

I do have a question: why is it that DC gets all the crossovers? Ninja Turtles, Alien and Predator, Star Trek.... Are those properties that are owned by vertigo and dark horse?

The fish talking thing was a problem for Aquaman but also... look at that costume! Also, the Aquaman of the 90s is such a hilarious overcorrection that it only serves to embarrass him in retrospect (SO GRITTY! MY SON DIED! MY HAND'S A HOOK!). The best version of Aquaman is Batman The Brave and the Bold! It embraced the goofiness, but made him into a lovable adventurer Errol Flynn style.

His Flashpoint version and the new 52 Geoff's run made the character a badass, unfortunately thanjs to the shitty old cartoon, his reputation among people that don't read comics is still of a silly guy talking with fish and riding giant seahorses

I always enjoyed the character of namor the submariner better bc of his dont care to be a hero just want my kindom to thrive kind of attitude. But aquaman is more relatable in the fact that he is getting judged all around even by his own people and is doing the tight thing but is seen the wrong way.

I dont look at it on terms of he can just talk to fish. I see aquaman and think, this guy can summon a kraken to wipe out a fleet of ships or have a dozen hump back whales cause a tsunami and destroy the whole eastern sea board. look at all the things flash can do, and he's just fast......

Considering the vast space of the ocean , they should have Aquaman creating his own team of water breather super powered individuals for example what if a alien that breathes only water had the same powers of either superman or Martian manhunter,raised in Atlantis or a Atlantean who became mutated due to human illegal dumping in the ocean into a super strength mutate ,a psychic atlantean who can use telekinesis , but can only breathe water .what about a Batman of Atlantis Black Manta could portray that saving people all the while Aquaman who rules is away on the surface. While keeping a secret identity.

What I never got about Aquaman is like...why do people care so much if he talks to fish? Talking to fish is neat. Talking to fish can be a good thing. Yet all the die-hard Aquaman-fans get up in arms if you even say he talks to fish, even if the person saying it *likes* that he can talk to fish

AQUAMAN is AMAZING! I would love if you would do more Aquaman content. Throne of Atlantis was amazing, and Aquaman's role in Flashpoint and Injustice was awesome.

Aquaman is my most favourite Comic book Character. I grew up with the old Comics from my Father and he only had one Aquaman Comic but this Comic was so good it was about Aquaman who hunts Black Manta for killing his Child. And the Art was so awesome and Aquamans struggle un-aliving Manta was perfectly shown. That's how I ended up a Aquaman Fan.

If he sends out some type of "signal" and the creatures of the sea understand it, that at its base form is communication or "talking" if you will.

I typically don't bother trying to correct people who say that AQUAMAN _'Talks to Fish!'_ My perspective is a bit different. I think of him as someone who *COMMANDS the SEA* and all its inhabitants. Thus, I consider him to be *EXTREMELY POWERFUL*.

Ive ALWAYS liked aquaman. I thought he was cool since I first saw him, I grew up with Paul Dini and Bruce Timm's Batman and Superman in the mid-late 90s to early 2000s.... but I didn't grow up with that hook-hand version of him I first saw him in the later years of superfriends or whatever it was when they gave him black boots instead the all green one with fins on the back, that's all I rmbr lol I was like 6 watchin it on boomerang......but I loved the badass Aquaman when I saw him from Dini and everybody in the DCAU.... to ME, that IS what D.C. Canon is all based off of for me, I always judge everything like films and stuff how well they follow the storyline by the ones from the DCAU and 90s early 2000s era Comics that is the D.C. I've always known and loved....... but I loved NEW52, Snyder's Batman was epic af , and Geoff Johns is great at writing Superman, like Men of Tomorrow it was Epic AF too but the first writers didn't do very good I've never like Loeb at all idk WHY they would put HIM on ur biggest title that makes no sense. But Johns and Tomasi n Jurgens ALL wrote Superman great in NEW52 I loved it...., im just now starting on Rebirth and I rly like Tynions run in detective Comics so far, so we'll see how it all goes I can't wait to get to the Metal event... but I might pick Aquaman up too if it's supposed to be this good. I've always liked him a lot anyways

I've just started the Rebirth run of Aquaman, and for the first 3 issues, we've got (so far) 3 different artists. Hmmm...I really hope this is better than the New 52 version, as I quit reading after the first 30 or so issues. Was it bad? No, it was much, much worse - it was just so depressingly average. It was the kind of crap Marvel used to push on readers back in the eighties, and that stank. You're on probation, Mr. Curry. I felt the same way about the New 52 Flash, too. Grrr...

Rob, please do the New 52 origin for Aquaman. I recently bought and read the Geoff John's 4 volume run on the character and it's AWESOME!! I can say that I am now a fan of Aquaman and I think people will enjoy the content if you can present it to them.

Aquaman is very true hero. Only who cares about life on Earth. Without him there will be no existence on land. Ability witch should have is evolute and deevolute beings. Love is emotion what Aquaman realy wants and gets, beacause he is lonely king in all sea. 100% water Romeo and in his charachter must incorporate alturisam with philantrophy. Like Silver Surfer but with allot hot girls and sexy adventures. Look at this guy real peach among babes :) :) :)

Stopped read Aquaman because of this very reason. Its always a 10 issue investment then they change writers and it goes to crap. He needs a writer and artist to commit to minimum 3 years of solid investment before I can spend money. Aquaman's history, potential and elements (science, magic, politics, inter-conflicts, surface interest and fear) far surpass Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman by miles. Atlantis/Aquaman should be the the Inhumans of the DC Universe.

Why are people angry over Aquaman talking to fish? I know fish don't have visible genitals, or sideburns like Elvis, but that's not Aquaman's fault. He was born a part human, part merman.

Ok. I'm not a big Aquaman fan. But, as a kid, I thought he was pretty cool. Especially in his own adventures. I think the problem with Aquaman is that when he was created, a guy that could breathe underwater and have those kinds of adventures was pretty cool. In this day and age of more and more powerful heroes, he just kind of fell by the wayside. Most writers just didn't know what to do with him. This new take on me reminds me of the 70's version I grew up with. And it seems pretty good. I'm not adverse to good Aquaman stories.; So, here's hoping it keeps getting better and better from here.

Aquaman is a great and very interesting super hero. His conflicted nature of being not accepted neither on land nor on Atlantis always haunts him (at least since Geoff Johns took over in New 52). Geoff Johns run was great, Jeff Parker's run was good (not at the level of Johns' but very decent) but then it took a hit. Thankfully Dan Abnett is doing an interesting series now. Glad you did a video for Aquaman. If you have time (and/or read that series) you should do one for Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps.

good job explaining. i never cared that he talked to fish, i thought it was more GRAND. as he controlled all sea life to do as he willed. i thought 90's Aquaman was cool, but it wasn't until the Injustice comics and Flashpoint Versions that i really started to respect him.

Dan Abnett is the bomb and will do justice to Aquaman. What I personally want to know is: of what material is the orange armor/clothing made and the green clothing? Is the orange armor from some defeated sea-beast? Why doesn't he have webbed shoes? Swimming with his green shoes is much harder, even though he has superhuman strenght.

Aquaman had a cool costume .In a 80's mini-series which was cool ,At the time came out but DC did not keep it ! And it was post Crisis on Infinite Earths at that time ,Then before the 90's they were trying to give Aquaman a little bit of edge .But don't remember the storyline since it was ages ago .

Aquaman Re Birth is the bomb I love it , I got # 9 on order the story is great , and it's not that he talks to fish he can manipulate them to do what he wants. He is part God and his kingdom is 70% water to Earth , and I was one who never new why he got disrespected . Later as I got older I learned of the Sub Mariner, but another story, but I Love Aquaman ReBirth it will make you a Aquaman fan if you weren't one all ready.

What Mera were people used to? From when? The 90s? Was she even around during the early 2000s? Wasn't Aquaman not even Arthur Curry for a while? Did Aquaman have good Post-Crisis stories with a good Mera? I don't get it. If the stories were silly until the 90s and Aquaman wasn't even around after that until New 52, where was Mera?

Well, anyone who says Aquaman talks to fish obviously hasn't read his comics. Unless the New 52 wasn't set in stone. Can he talk to fish? Or just push them psychically? Talking to fish wouldn't even make him lame. Aquaman is awesome.

DC needs to start treating Aquaman with the same level of respect that Marvel gives to Black Panther. We need "Aquaman" and "World of Atlantis".
