I have found the sanding stages/ prep is where the bulk of the work is being done and when you out that initial effort in before the buffing pad or airwave hits the metal then the polishing stages will become a lot easier. When it comes to sanding, I feel like there's even more technique involved and risk to make mistakes with applied pressure, different rotational angles and generally trying to keep the surface finish flat before the next sanding stage. I'm always impressed by the consistency of your prep work. Throwing thanks at you from Oz

Ya sanding is 100% the bulk of the work on most pieces!!! Thanks for watching

@@DCSuperShine absolutely, I can't thank you enough for the education you give and the knowledge you've imparted has directly resulted in my own personal improvements. Across the globe from you while you're asleep or doing an over night polish job, let that sink in for a moment.

How much metal is removed during the sanding and polishing steps? Reason I’m asking is because I have a polished aluminum sided hopper. I’m thinking of polishing the exposed hopper portion underneath but I’m worried about potentially weakening or puncturing through the walls of the hopper. I know this is an older video but I hope you’re still monitoring the comments. Thanks for any feedback you might offer.

Hey Jonathan, thanks for watching… I always say to be careful when sanding rims cause they are rated to withstand a certain weight and safety is important with heavy loads… when polishing anything else I pretty much sand to my hearts content, of course using common sense. :) As an example I’ve had some customers for over 15-20 years and some still have the small old trucks… I sand the tanks every single year! And they’re still good to go for more! In most cases as long as you’re not sanding out a huge gouge out you’re taking very little Material off. Hope all that made sense. :)

Hope i don’t compromise you with this question but how much would you charge for those step sides or an approximate? Specially if they are diamond plated

Got a question Dennis… I noticed when you was done finishing the steps you could still see buffer lines in the light and I run into this problem all the time, that being said will those disappear after a few days or are they only visible in the led shop lights? Any advice is appreciated…

The lighting plays a huge part yes. Is it possible to get the 100% out… I never have. And ya they seem to lighten up after a few washes. Aluminum is soft… nature of the beast unfortunately

theirs much better methods and the sanding could be done much smoother. I use high speed dewalt inox grinder ( variable) with sanding pads and stop at 800. get much better results in my work thats very heavy buffer trails and sub par results in the end.

@@technetrium hey man thanks for your comment! I’ve mentioned this many times in my videos.. I polish work trucks not show trucks… going the extra mile for a smoother sand result, thus giving a better “end result” not only does it make no sense for a work truck. but most of my customers won’t pay premium dollar for the extra time needed. Just has been my experience. The important thing is that my customers are happy, I’m happy whether you think it’s sub par work is irrelevant to me. Thanks for trolling… I mean watching 👍
